POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Maybe, but both sides played on it. One of those sides is a bottom 4 team. That was the team that won the game. Don't blame the bloody ground. We were very ordinary today.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
In Goody's presser, I hope to hell he does not say we still have things to learn. I really hope he says that our performance today was totally unacceptable and no-one's position is guaranteed. Controlled anger can be a constructive emotion occasionally.

GAMEDAY: Rd 13 v Collingwood
Head in my hands. Sad for Neale. If we needed anything to fire us up today, Neale's plight should have been enough. So they send Buckley out with a win? Given he is no longer their coach, WTF does that mean anyway? If our players could not adjust to that aberration, then they need to sit down and have a mid season chat. Pathetic really. Line in the sand from here. Start again, with a new focus guys... BTW, other than the draw, which doesn't count, I've tipped one winner this round. .

Demon Night on the Front Bar
Sorry, it's OK, clearly it's after Big Smother. Geez I love TV these days.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
No evidence of this, but I think the filth precipitated Buckley's departure, because they have intel that Teague is on the way out. As a result, Collingwood did not want to have to go into a bidding war for their preferred candidate as a replacement for Buckley - whoever that may be.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
I think Buckley has gone out with class, but he remains a very wealthy man. Having given up his job, he is a long way from going hungry. That said, like a few on here, I am more than a little worried that the Pies will fire up for their game against us, given it's Buck's last game as Coach. If there is still room for the old fashioned rev up from coaches, I hope our staff remind the players, that this is Neale Daniher's game. A man who is going through the greatest battle in life, that anyone of us could possibly imagine. The game has taken on even more gravitas, since Neale began his health battle. The Big Freeze is a Daniher franchise, but as a life member of the MFC, Neale has decided, along with his family, to make this game the marquee for his cause. Buckley will be fine, but as Neale's mortality ebbs away, we owe him big time. So, the motivation on Monday should be all about Neale, not about Buckley's departure from a club that has been moribund for some time - and we all know how that feels. Let this footy club get it done for the Reverend. Go you mighty Demons.

Neale Daniher on AFL 360
A mate of mine's son is married to Neale's other daughter. Not only is Neale part of the fabric of the MFC, an inspiration to all, but he has a family, of which he can be rightfully proud. Bec's support of her father, while remaining focussed on the cause, leaves me awestruck.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
Sorry Guys, but on game day, I will never come on to this site again. For 3/4's of this game, you would have thought we were getting spanked by 10 goals. Celebrate your Dees, but look at the positives please. BTW, I think we might be on the verge of something special. Enjoy the ride, but in future, I stay out of here on game day

Migrants usually follow AFL clubs, that most closely resemble the soccer teams they followed so passionately in their home countries. In times gone by, many Italians barracked for Collingwood, because of the colours replicating those of the Juventus. Similarly, the Greeks followed Norf, as their colours were very close to the Greek National colours. Same with Inter Milan and Essendon. As we keep getting better and spread our good news to the general community, the rest will follow. Today's new about Santa Teresa oval, will not only garner more indigenous followers, but more from the general community.

My 3 word player analysis V Bulldogs
I love Joeboy's analysis, but I think it now needs to evolve. Previous analyses were when we were down, but with players potentially on the rise. Now, we are playing like a REAL team, minus the egos, as per the Age article.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Western Bulldogs
I hope the AFL let us wear the indigenous jumper in another round. Probably next week would be appropriate.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Western Bulldogs
I just love my footy club. Finally, I can say it with pride and real belief. Dad, I hope we can do it for you. If we do, I'll make sure the fridge is stocked with Abbotsford lager. By the way, can you please have a word with the big fella up there, to make sure he smiles upon us for the rest of the year and tell him to have a word to Norm and let him know it is ok to let go of the curse..... finally

COVID & AFL 2021
All I can say is, if this virulent curse and the containment of it, is all down to the States, then I am not sure why, at the moment, we have a Federal Government. So much for the Constitution.

COVID & AFL 2021
The "real world" And where might that be? Is it where 100's of K's have died? Operating under the auspices of the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs, we have the Australian Border Force. What are they doing? Hotel Quarantine has been an abject failure and as the feds have been warned time and time again, by health experts, hotel quarantine is not fit for purpose.

Umps got it wrong - need a please explain
Spargo kicked it it off the ground, toward the close proximity of a team mate. The Adelaide player hand balled along the surface of the ground, giving his team mate no chance to collect the ball. If the Adelaide player's intent was to find a team mate, before the ball went out of bounds, then hand ball it in the air, so your team mate has a much better chance of gathering the ball and clearing it. A ground ball, toward the boundary line is nigh on impossible for your team mate to gather and move on down the field. As for the missed holding the ball. That was far worse, bordering on unbelievable.

Umps got it wrong - need a please explain
I could not get over the ease with which Walker took the subsequent mark, after the missed HTB. Very un-May like. But as others have said on this thread, a failure of our 'leaders' to stand up and set up properly, was the greatest disappointment that I took out of last night. Thank goodness for Clarrie. In terms of the umps, it is not the number of frees for and against that matters most to me, it is when and where the frees are given (or not given). We only ask for consistency. For mine, to many umps seem to be want to be media performers, rather than adjudicators who have an innate feel for just how footy is played. I'm still gutted that we lost the way we did.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Why was Petty played on Walker? Spargo handballed, while under pressure, 'towards' a team mate. Result? deliberate. If we got beaten by 3 or 4 goals, I maybe could swallow that. Off our game? Sure we we were, but to lose by one point, against interstate, home ground umpires hurts even more. Some of our so called stars have been off for a few weeks. Which means, with the BIG tests coming up, they need to have a good hard look at themselves. LEAD guys. Please, lead. A point loss, under those circumstances? I am gutted

Reward the Ball Winner or Tackler
When I played VFA footy - admittedly in the dark ages - a handball over your head or shoulder, was considered a throw. The hand upon which the ball sat, needed to be stationary. Otherwise, it was a throw. Now, it is almost considered to be an art form. When I played, before the game, the umps would come into the rooms and speak to the players, about what they would be looking at. Particularly, if it was wet weather, the umps would advise that the bloke playing/going for the ball, would be protected. Last Sunday, it was very wet in the 3rd quarter. ANB gathered the ball, was tackled from in front and behind - sandwiched. How was he expected to legally dispose of the ball? Incorrect disposal was paid against him. I agree, the umps have a very hard gig, but we used to have umps who had a feel and understanding of our game. Unfortunately, today, too many of them see themselves as media performers, rather than officiators of elite sport. The nuance is not understood by the decision makers. All we ask now is for consistency. Is that too hard? It is not how many free kicks are paid, rather it is where and when they are paid.

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
I thought Weed's commitment to the contest was good, given how long he'd been out of the ones. His endeavour and positioning was far better than BBB. Weed at least positioned himself well for the contest, even if he couldn't clunk the marks. That said, the weather and delivery into the forward did not help his cause. I would be happy to have both LJ and the Weed this week. As a result, BBB, unfortunately, will be dropped.

Viney on Brink of Surprise Return
Did I miss something? Wasn't the initial prediction 2 weeks on the sidelines?
