  1. First game I've liked from Bartram and Bruce in a fair while, and Miller didn't waste a disposal, which was pleasing. Wheatley tried hard all day, but turned it over a few times. CJ showed a bit, PJ is the best (maybe only) 200cm rover in the comp and McLean continues to bust his gut. Green has transformed from the silky skills outsider in his first couple of years to a tough, hard tackling, strong marking leader (however I think his kicking has dropped off a bit). On the other hand, although a big fan of Ooze, his disposal has to be better. I guess he had about 15 touches, 5 were up to his usual standard, 5 were average, but not really penetrating or putting it on someone's chest, and the other 5 were poor. I think the fact that he got a couple of clearances, battled hard and took a fewstrong grabs might save him, but he has to improve. I also have been a big fan of White, but he was poor. Did you see the contest where he tapped it to Yze who was tackled by 2 tigers straight away, with another hanging just off the pack, but Jeff didn't provide the second effort to help out. Yze managed a 20m handball which bought us some time, but the tigers eventually launched an attack. It was the last quarter, so I'm hoping he was completely out of steam. Wonaeamirri is the best shot for goal in the league from <35m. Because he keeps the ball low and straight with a simple technique, not much can go wrong. But from >35m, he struggles to get the ball over 3m above the goal line. He should be informed to pass it off from this range.
  2. It was obvious he was injured. Kicked off his left when it usually wouldn't be necessary. I don't know why he was out there in the last quarter, he couldn't use his main weapon, I'd rather have a couple of younger kids run round.
  3. There was only 2 seconds left in the game. The last quarter ran more than 2 minutes too long, maybe the players were notified. Paul Johnson din't make the correct decision despite the outcome. A 40m shot 45 degree angle PJ would kick maybe 40-50% of the time. Kicking backwards to 60m out and then hoping a free target is found would maybe a 25% chance of a goal, going by an average inside 50 to goal ratio.
  4. Rhino, I don't have any stats for score assists over the last decade or so, but I'd be willing to bet Yze has the most of any Melbourne player. I can think of 1 kick on Monday which could be considered selfish and at least 6 or 7 which set up opportunities. Your constant bagging of Yze is at least on par with YM's of Bruce.
  5. One of Oozes 'shots' was a pass to Wonna running towards the square, just too far out in front for a tired young man. I thought he was one of our best apart from his last kick. I actually thought Bruce wasn't as bad as he has been, although he always has at least a couple of poor efforts that ruin his game. Same with Bartram, did some good things today, but I doubt he'll become a consistently good player. Morton has played a couple of good games early in his career and I think he will turn out to be a gun, but he should get 0/10, worst game I've seen by anyone since I've been watching footy (and I've seen more than enough games by Dale Thomas and Cameron Ling that actually benefit the opposition). We are going to have to find some small defenders soon, because Bell and Bode shouldn't get another game this year, and Bailey must have something against Wheels.
  6. Petterd in the 2's? Should get 50 touches if he plays the whole game.
  7. Tom Garland- I thought it must have been a different Garland playing last week, thanks for clarifying.
  8. No. Players named in the starting Sandy team can play for MFC (and I'd expect at least 1 or 2 of those this week). Same thing applies for Sandy 2's starting players.
  9. I'd say the last time Yze played 4 quarter of good footy was against the bulldogs in round 7 last year. Yze has played 3 games since then. The 3 games before that one he also played good games, including 38 touches against Freo, a day when he was clearly the best for us on a day when not many stood up. He also turned more than a couple of Queen's Birthday clashes our way, and played well in all 22 games of the 2001 season when we won only 10 games. I probably would prefer Maric to be given a chance, but I wouldn't expect to see him in MFC colours in 2008. The best performers for Sandy should be promoted regardless of age. There is no point giving a youngster a game if he doesn't deserve it.
  10. We could squeeze Ana Ivanovic on a flank, Rob Gel would be a wet weather specialist.
  11. Have a soft spot for: White, Yze, Whelan; all have been guns for a long time Green; actually a very tough player despite a reputation he has earnt somehow among opposition supporters(although I don't rate his field kicking as highly as some others). Rivers;the best player on our list IMO. PJ;talented big man Last year's Juice; did some amazing things at VFL, however struggled this year before suspension I'll also add TJ; would've liked a few others to be considered for trade ahead of him Players that regurlarly annoy me: Carroll; not big enough to be first tall defender, not skillful enough to be anything else. Bell; should be a good player, is fast and strong, but just seems to constantly make decision making errors. Jamar; if I can compare my footskills with any AFL player favourably then I tend not to appreciate them. Bruce; ball use has deteriorated, what happened to the player that would kick 7 from midfield. Bartram; didn't rate his first year as highly as others, always turned the ball over too often. Miller; mainly the handballs backwards to players under pressure, however I didn't see it at all against Freo and I'll admit he plaayed a great game Moloney; not creative at all, just bombs long, tries to burst through tackles when giving off a handball is clearly a better option. And while I'm at it, I may as well add the 2 worst All Australians in the history of the game, Campbell Brown and Cameron Ling.
  12. I barely remember that game at all, but I've never let myself forget that it was the worst umpiring of a game I've ever seen.
  13. Regarding Yze, its pretty hard to be consistent in a forward pocket of a struggling team, and I wouldn't say any other of our experienced players (Neitz, Robbo, Bruce, White) have been more consistent than Yze. If he plays well enough (and judging by the Sandy games I've seen this year he just about has) he should be selected. Giving a joungster a game who doesn't deserve it sends the wrong messages, and to be honest, some of them would learn more at Sandy this year rather than not getting a touch for MFC.
  14. Jamar and pick 53 for Adelaide's pick 59. No I did not make a typo and yes I think this is fair. We actually need to give a club some kind of benefit for clogging up a spot on their list.
  15. Chapman's injury really hurt his chances this year, however he was robbed last year and is undoubtably one of the cats' best. As mentioned, Mooney in ahead of Riewoldt, Franklin and Lucas is surprising to say the least. Campbell Brown is not half the player that Jed Adcock or Nick Malceski are. Steve Johnson had 16 good games, Ebert had a good whole year and Ling IMO should struggle to make Geelong's 22 let alone the best 22 in the comp, really doesn't have a clue what to do with the ball when he gets it, one of the reasons he failed as an attacking midfielder. Even Godfrey shut down players this year, playing in a much weaker side, and he got delisted. How hard can it be to stop one player in a side which won convincingly for most of the year.
