  1. So you think every single player in the side is ignoring the coach and blazing away? That’s harder to imagine
  2. It feels like the questions should be put to Simon Goodwin, rather than going after the players (ANB’s howler aside) If it’s being instructed, take the heat off the players and own up to it, it’s certainly no big secret to anyone what we do
  3. Either our players have the lowest collective football IQ in the game or they are being instructed to play this way. I firmly believe it’s the latter. We don’t have many good kicks in the side and the game plan is tailored to suit that but someone training every single day of the week should be able to hit a lead from 25-30 metres in their sleep
  4. Agree. I’ve never seen a player kick so many grubbers in my life. GWS have a great example of an inside bull that can kick, in Tom Green. He’s a gun.
  5. This is something I’ve often pondered over the last few years. We love having numbers behind the ball because it makes it harder to score. Yet we invite numbers into our forward line through slow ball movement, making it harder to score. I understand that we are playing the percentages and it’s minimising risk but it must suck the life out of the players. I think it’s especially evident with someone like Kade Chandler, comes into the side and plays with all the freedom in the world and kicks goals, then slowly the focus shifts to defensive effort and the goals dry up. Ultimately, the goal is to win flags but if we are unwatchable all year to make it happen, I just think it kills the mood
  6. All sounds like symptoms of fatigue to me None of the things listed happen on their own, they require physical or mental exertion. That ability drops off with fatigue My opinion, our game plan requires forward line players to do far too much to maintain structure and pressure, which means they are cooked by the time we get a forward entry (Kozzie/Spargs/ANB/Chin etc)
  7. For a bloke that put his mate into next week, Rohan definitely played a good game.
  8. I’d like to know what everyone thinks is the best way forward for Kossie? Since his suspension, he’s been a shadow of himself. Is it ‘playing safe’ to avoid MRP scrutiny or is he just horribly out of form? He still seems to be hitting bodies very late when/after they kick which seems frustration induced.
  9. Agree, Max is in a lot more danger of being dropped.
  10. I know ANB gives a lot to our game plan with his running but he’s the ultimate ‘almost’ man. Almost has a decent game, almost kicks a goal, almost picks the ball up, almost gets rid of the ball in a tackle, almost takes a mark.
  11. There should be a lot of nervous blokes heading into the review. At least 6 who are horribly scared of body contact I’d love to see one game this year where we hit up targets instead of bombing it on heads. Fritta and Kossie are not taking marks against this backline in the dry, no chance in the wet
  12. Horrible place to come back from injury, cold and wet Geelong at night I’d give Clarry another week as a precaution
  13. 100% agree. Being a number 1 draft pick outside of Victoria would be relatively stress free, even if they do eat each other alive in the WA media. The eagles mids might even rediscover some form when an 18yo kids comes in and runs rings around them from day one
  14. I couldn’t care less as these things happen during winter but I was told earlier in the week, not when they lost.
  15. I’ve got a mate that works for CFC, it was a thing
  16. I was worried about him losing some leg speed through last year, very happy to be wrong. He is looking very sharp and confident in his body!
  17. Point of shoulder to the chin, he’s gone
  18. Take the win, onto next week. I hope for all our sake that we can find an extra 5-10% in our skills McVee is the find of the year, he’s a smooth mover, doesn’t ever seem panicked and lands in the right spot all the time
  19. I know it’s tough for the real diehards to hear but I fully understand why we don’t get 40,000 to every game. This is absolutely putrid
  20. Roo is going to be something. Demands the footy and delivers
  21. How does Johnson fit in our side with Fritsch? No way we can afford to play both
  22. I’ve barely seen a less athletic looking AFL player than Hunter, he looks like he can barely run 98% of the time. @jnrmac Even under pressure, teams are not panic-kicking in the air, there’s an effort across the league to keep the ball closer to the ground when playing us. 2021 version’s great strength (Lever & May aerially) is one of 2023 version’s biggest weakness (Lever & May on the groundball)
  23. I’d imagine Fagan & Clarko’s lawyers would be salivating right now
  24. Prior to his injury he could not cement a spot, think he’s most similar to the Fritsch role, rather than a KPF
  25. This is the way I see it pan out also. He takes the defensive role and we can give Petty a proper go with JVR and Brodie/Max @Redleg Tom McDonald’s size is not a worry, he just can’t get out of a trot and he can’t turn.
