James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
But it’s a 2 way street Ohio. Collingwood showed no loyalty to Treloar and Stephenson so you can’t blame players for making decisions that are in their best interests. Loyalty left the building when the AFL went professional. Perhaps revert back to the amateur status, take all that TV money and distribute it to clubs and grassroots to spend on facilities and junior coaching. Players play for the teams in the postcodes where they were born. It’s the model used in Gaelic Games in Ireland. You play for the county team you were born into. No transfers. It’ll never happen, too much money involved, but it’s the only way to ensure genuine loyalty to the Guernsey.

Punt Road redevelopment
I learned a new word today. Bumboozer: A kind of large marble in children's games. Not what came to mind when I saw bumboozer in Wiktionary but there you go.

Adam Treloar
The latest from the HUN below. I reckon the pies are trying it on but without written agreement how do you go about proving what was agreed? It’s the pies word against the doggies. I think it’ll be the AFL or the courts who’ll have to adjudicate. Also, how does it work in practice? Would the doggies have a contract with Treloar for the full amount and a side agreement with the Pies for their contribution? Or just the one agreement involving the 3 parties? Could Treloars and his manager be the tie-breaker. Wouldn’t they have been privy to the negotiations? “Figures close to the standoff say the Dogs are adamant they will not be paying Treloar a cent more than a “watertight” five-year, $600,000-a-season contract agreed with the cast-off Magpies midfielder. It would mean Treloar is still owed $300,000 a year — or $1.5 million — under the terms of his original Magpies contract. But Collingwood insists the Bulldogs agreed to further negotiations over who would pay what to Treloar after the trade went through, which the Bulldogs absolutely dispute. The Dogs are confident any money owed above and beyond Treloar’s new arrangement at the Whitten Oval is simply a matter for Collingwood. The only concession the Western Bulldogs did offer Collingwood during the frantic final days of the trade period, one figure said, was an offer to front-end some of Treloar’s wages in his new contract to assist the Magpies with management of their salary cap. But if Collingwood’s position is right, the Bulldogs effectively agreed to a trade for Treloar without knowing how much they would pay him. The clubs agreed to the trade one minute before the AFL exchange period deadline. But no paperwork outlining any financial details has been lodged with the AFL by either club.”

you just beat me to it @DeeSpencer

Tasmanian Team
A Tassy team would be no different to any other team as regards retention. If they’re successful they’ll retain and if not then they struggle. The same argument could be said if the AFL were starting a team in Geelong now. All the youngsters want to leave, who would want to live in Geelong rah rah, whereas as in fact, Geelong is cited as a lifestyle choice, amongst its other selling points. Why can’t Tassy be the same? Hobart is a beautiful spot.

James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
And another thing, the assumption that a flag at the Hawks has a lesser value than one he would have won at the Dees is bogus. A flag, is a flag, is a flag. Pretty sure Brian Lake wouldn’t swap his 3 peat with the Hawks for a flag at the Dogs.

James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
Not saying that any D’lander is a hypocrite (God forbid), but in the interests of full disclosure and transparency I think we should all declare, before passing comment on chip, whether we have ever a) changed jobs in our life b) choose an option which resulted in a greater financial return to us c) choose an option which provided us with greater opportunity I tick all the above. He gave 7 good years of good service when we were a rabble, (the last year club and player had separated in spirit) and we got pick 3 when he left. Won his medallion at the Hawks and has now taken the option of an extra year at the saints. Are people seriously saying he should forego a years income, at a level that he’ll probably never be able to earn post career.

Tasmanian Team
It’s a mystery to me why Tassy hasn’t been given a team yet. Its footy heartland. Participation rates are the canary in the goldmine. Ignore at your peril Gil. It would be a shocking dereliction of duty to ignore the base and lose Tassy while wasting time and resources on a vanity project in the Gold Coast. Btw this Godfrey bloke appears to be just the type of hard headed realist needed to head up a strategic review of the Suns.

Adam Treloar
The very public nature of his departure from the pies and the continuing wrangling over his salary can’t be doing Treloar’s confidence any good. It’ll be very interesting to see if he can settle back down and produce decent footy for the dogs in 2021. I won’t be surprised if he under-performs.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
I think his kicking is fine. He’s had off days for sure like every player but broadly his stats match-up with his peers. It’s the double grabs that are the big knock on his game imv. Cut those out and he’ll be a real threat for us. I don’t think the MFC have done a good job developing Sam. KPF will have off days. It’s important to persist and Goodwin hasn’t done that dropping him after some bad games, not picking him at the start of this season, which has obviously dented his confidence. Sam has had runs of games where he has been very good so he definitely has the ability. This year he needs to be backed in. Told he and BB will be our spearheads. Sending him back to the 2’s serves no purpose anymore. Let’s see what he’s got this year with BB beside him. I think he’s got the goods and will deliver 40 odd goals for us. Over to you Sam.

Fair enough Axis. Good points well made. Still reckon less talk and more action is the way to go though.

Why You Should Wait Until After Trade Period Before Printing Calandars
I think the question should be Why do we need footy calendars at all. The kids are into ipads these days so I think their day has passed. btw the Collingwood calendar is probably worse than Norths

Gawn: Dees Ready for Success
Something along the lines we’ll let our footy do the talking when we take the field. Actions not words. I get he has to front the media and I get why some supporters don’t pay too much attention to these articles. Fair enough. For me I’ve heard it all before and it irritates me. Sorry, that just the way I feel about it.

Gawn: Dees Ready for Success
It would have been best if you read my post in full and not strip out one comment and then interpret it out of context. I know he has media obligations. I know it’s a fluff piece Who said he needed to self-flagellate? The messaging could be different and still cater to the whole fanbase. Hearing the same thing each pre season without follow through makes the words had to swallow. That was my point which you’ve conveniently decided to by-pass.

James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
I'm an optimist by nature but I have my moments of doubt but I genuinely think we have a list now to break into the Top 4 and challenge.

James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
I can’t wrap my head around the concept of switching allegiances like that. If Maxy, Trac , Oliver and May decided to de-camp, on mass, to a rival I still wouldn’t be for turning. Even if there was a time machine that took me back to the fateful time when I got hooked on the Dees I still wouldn’t change my decision. That said I do wonder whether I should inflict the Dees on my kids. It’s a hard road.
