sorry. please eggscuse my lame pun

If we do pick him up lets hope we're not left with egg on our face

It would have been best if you read my post in full and not strip out one comment and then interpret it out of context. I know he has media obligations. I know it’s a fluff piece Who said he needed to self-flagellate? The messaging could be different and still cater to the whole fanbase. Hearing the same thing each pre season without follow through makes the words had to swallow. That was my point which you’ve conveniently decided to by-pass.

Why do you say?

And cover TMac's salary which would be far in excess of what Chip will earn.

James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again

I'm an optimist by nature but I have my moments of doubt but I genuinely think we have a list now to break into the Top 4 and challenge. -
James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again

I can’t wrap my head around the concept of switching allegiances like that. If Maxy, Trac , Oliver and May decided to de-camp, on mass, to a rival I still wouldn’t be for turning. Even if there was a time machine that took me back to the fateful time when I got hooked on the Dees I still wouldn’t change my decision. That said I do wonder whether I should inflict the Dees on my kids. It’s a hard road. -
2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Fair point but I was being a little flippant. I thought it a strange comparison -

They sure are interesting comparisons! I’ve just been put off Finlay Macrae because he’s been compared to David Zaharakis! Really hope this kid finds his way to us: Bailey Laurie Height: 179cm Weight: 78kg Weapon: High footy IQ Player comparison: Brent Daniels, GWS GIANTS Haven’t seen much discussion about Zac Reid in any threads (presumably will go before our picks). Just seen his highlights. Liked what i saw. I’d add composure to his weaponry. And the comparison to Harris Andrews! Could be the long-term replacement for S May? If we are looking at KPD then wouldn't be surprised if we moved up the order to select him. Zac Reid Height: 202cm Weight: 83kg Weapon: Overhead marking and absolute reach Player comparison: Harris Andrews, Brisbane -
Because it was rushed. Gotta say the dogs look foolish here. You'd think salary split is the no. 1 item to get right in the deal and particularly given the circumstances around treloars contract.

Let’s agree to disagree. Both great players.

Your reaction is the same as most Dees supporters. The trouble with those words is they sound very hollow because they have never been backed up by deeds. I would prefer if the messaging was different. Acknowledge past failures and shortcomings. Say we’ll let our footy do the talking when the season rolls around. Something other than the usual guff. I find it a little insulting tbh. Yes its fluff but I do question the value of these pieces and why they have to be published at all.

Direct quote: “There’s a few things we’ve got to make sure we gel, and a strong pre-season should be able to do that for us,” he said. Yep. We're just one good preseason away.
-
And we really have to come up with some alternative options with our kick-outs. Surely the brains trust can come up with some ideas.

Jim Stynes was the best ruckman we're ever had and arguably in the history of the AFL Redefined the ruck role to one of mobility and getting around the ground. There would have been no Dean Cox or Brody Grundy types if it wasnt for Jim Stynes. Won a brownlow, 2AA and 4 bnf’s. 244 consecutive games is testament to a granite will and extraordinary pain threshold. His durability and hardness is legend. Not to mention everything he did off the field. I love Maxy but he’s no Jim Stynes.

Burgess knows what he's doing and Maxy says himself in the article he feels no lingering ill effects.

This trade period has been a PR disaster for the pies. They have clearly shown themselves to be untrustworthy and have tried to spin this salary dump as a strategic move when it’s nothing of the sort. Ned Guy’s trainwreck interview will go down as one for the ages. Trade period shambles, Jungle drums beating for Eddie, Lumumba case, De Joey in court. I think the pies will crash and burn in season 2021.

In other words game plan and intensity. Both the responsibility of the coaching group imv. No more drop-offs in game and oppo defenders rebounding gleefully, midfield to function better and optimise Maxy ruckwork (Yze to sort this out) and better conversion of I50's to scores and we will make Top 4. Bulldogs, Saints and collingwood made finals this year and all miles off the flag. Competing with these teams to win a final doesn't cut it for me. Either we're mixing it will the big boys next season or Simon has to go. 5 years in that has to be the expectation. Plus, I though Roos handed him a finals ready list 4 years ago!
-
If we start 0-3 should we pull the pin and be done with it? Likelihood of making finals from that start are slim.
-
Hilarious. Player managers will be looking on with interest. Good luck pies signing any FA's over the next few years.
-
Top 4 minimum. Otherwise we're just wasting our time and this group of players isn't getting any younger.
-
Were those 9 tackles an outlier or is he typically a tackling machine? If typical then he has to get a run in the side sooner rather than later. Forward half pressure is something we’re sorely lacking.
-
The club did a great job sorting Brayshaw's concussion issues (at the time i would have advised him to give it away) they probably thought they could do the same with KK. He never got close unfortunately. Terrible luck for the kid. He had one great season with GC where he looked a real player. BEst of luck KK. Sorry it didn't work out differently.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN

I agree. When you think of the KPF taken over the past few years including Tom Boyd (although his Norm Smith level performance in the GF alone probably means he was a success), Jonathon Patten, Paddy McCartin and our very own Jack Watts he compares favourably. Probably Harry McKay taken at pick 10 in 2016 is the best comparison. Looks the goods but hasn’t quite put it all together yet. Jury still out imv. -

The most wooden pair of hands I can ever recall seeing in the AFL But a great kick.
