  1. Walters just done a hammy. Now that is a game changer.
  2. I think it works in our favour the doggies playing a full-strength side. Give our players challenging for a round one spot a proper test.
  3. Rory Lobb has gone down in the 1st quarter. Nasty looking knee injury so quite possible out of round 1. Hopefully not too serious and he's right for round 2 but certainly not sorry if he doesn't face us.
  4. We’ve 1 female VP, Kate Roffey, accordingly to the website. Have I missed someone else? I think we could have more. No reason why we can’t have a female coach. Bec Goddard has won a premiership and is commentating because she can’t get a full time role. I’d have her over Stinear. Agree it’s difficult to grow salaries above current levels. Anyways, I think the above are much more worthy of debate than whether Bartlett appears at a non-MFC event at the Australia club.
  5. Carlton have received a dream draw again. I'm no conspiracy theorist but jeez they are blessed when it comes to the fixture. Our best is good enough beat the Crows and Lions but i'm not sure we can produce when the chips are down against the good teams. We're an outside chance at best. We'll rue the bulldogs loss at the end of the season.

    radio interview. he sounded interested.

Per Goodwin BB expected back rd 3 or rd 4 but the club will be cautious. Weid the same timeline.
  8. I wouldn't use social media as a barometer. If the club wants a balanced female perspective then use a survey or similar to gather feedback.
  9. I agree it’s hypocritical and Bartlett has set himself up for it by making meaningless gestures. If the club really wanted to advance the interests of women it should support and further objectives such as: Attracting more female leaders to sit on club boards and committees Create pathways/opportunities for female coaches to work full time at football clubs. I would love to see a female coach of our AFLW team (and would probably be better than our current male coach) Figure out how female players can earn a decent living The above requires more than lip-service. It requires genuine commitment and hard work. But rather than focus on these issues we waste valuable oxygen on pointless gestures and debates that effect no change and don’t fundamentally advance the cause of women in the AFL. This event will come and go and I guarantee you than 5 minutes afterwards everyone will have forgotten about it. And if Bartlett delivers the home base (and my faith is wavering that he will) nobody will care a jot that he attended this event either.
  10. I’ll listen to the views of our female members (and happy to be corrected) but I doubt if many of them are losing too much sleep because they can’t join a musty old boys club. Trust me ladies, you're not missing anything. Like plenty of similar clubs their membership is aging and dwindling. Let nature take its course. I think there are more pressing problems to deal with such as building our home base and getting our team to win footy matches.
  11. Bannon has real footy smarts. she paddled the ball and soccered the goal to evade the pressure from the defender. The type of play we haven't seen thus far in the AFLW. Most players would gather the ball and end up getting tackled.
  12. After a fortnight from hell we'll take that. Too many gettable goals missed this evening with Zanker the main culprit. Adelaide next week is a must win. We have to kick straight to have any chance.
  13. A nice percentage boost would be handy
  14. Better but the handball habit is hard to shake. Daisy experiment going much better than i thought it would. Zanker in the thick of it, Gay is clean and composed and Hanks having a dip as usual. St Kilda are very poor. We should be able see it through from here.
  15. Tom Phillips finding plenty of the ball.
  16. Sure are. I think its a genuine 50/50 game.
  17. read the terms and conditions
  18. The wily womenfolk of Judea solved this problem 2 millennia ago. As faithfully re-enacted here by Month Python, all that is required is a fake beard, some modern male garb (I suggest and suit and tie) and to speak in a low baritone voice. Problem solved
  19. True
  20. Agree. Richmond look primed. They always get such an even contribution across the board. Mason Cox looked dangerous. Kicked 3 and could have had more if he held all his marks. If he can produce some consistent form he’s a nightmare match-up for anyone.
  21. Over the last few years our good is very good but our bad is terrible. The inconsistency and yo-yo performances suggest mental fragility and weakness. We let our intensity and effort drop off. The Bulldogs last year springs to mind as a classic example. A 3rd quarter disappearing act. Everybody but particularly senior players need to held accountable.
  22. Confidence rock bottom. We just need to stay alive so I'll take a win by whatever means we can muster.
  23. If Richmond make the grand final again i know who i'll be putting my money on to win the Norm Smith

The Collingwood approach to list management! I wouldn't advise we go down that path.

Grundy had a poor season last year so they are regretting it now. 4 years is a big commitment and vote of confidence in Gawn. And although he is 30 he doesn't have the same miles on the clock as other 30 year olds because he didn't play much early in his career. There is a trend in sports of players enjoying extended careers. Tom Brady, Zlatan, Ronaldo all playing well into their 30's and early 40's. Perhaps with advances in sports science we can extend Maxy's career? He certainly looks in top nick at the moment.
