  1. I take your point. Wasn’t a comment specifically on the Dees women more a general comment. There are some in the league who I think could be better conditioned Perkins is a very good player and uses her bulk to very good effect particularly in marking contests. But I think she’s the exception to the rule
  2. It wasn’t a very good game last night. We’ve played well in spells this year but we haven’t really found our groove yet. There’s been definite improvement skills wise over the past few years but the comp is expanding too quickly imv. It’s diluting the overall quality. And more teams joining next year. I guess the rationale is more teams more interest but I’m not sure its such a good idea I’d prefer to watch a higher quality game but personally whichever team is wearing red and blue I’ll support them. It’s not like we haven’t sat through some god awful football served up by the blokes for long enough I think your point about the condition of some of the players is valid. Part-time or not they should be more mindful of diet and nutrition and present in better shape for the season. Whatever about skills and experience you do have control over your conditioning. Speaks to a lack of commitment Who knows whether its political correctness of not. Some of the rubbish on primetime TV nowadays leaves me scratching my head Anyways, hope you can get along to some games this season OD
  3. 5 Mithen 4 Zanker 3 McNamara 2 Birch 1 L Pearce
  4. Not that convincing but we got the job done Contested game much better. Mithen BOG. Her best game for a while Zanker, McNamara. Paxy, L Pearce and Birch best of the rest A few players down on form still in particular Kate Hore. We need her firing if we’re to beat the best teams If we can bag the W against GWS next we’re in decent shape heading into a tough run home Go Dees
  5. McNamara all class, Zanker and Mithen cracking in. Libby Birch very solid down back We’re the better team. Just need to convert our chances.
  6. effort is there. No polish though. This will be a grind
  7. I think he's on Trac. Pun intended
  8. "It's life Jim but not as we know it" Great report as always @picket fence. You have found your true calling in life Great to see everyone going hard. Hopefully those you mentioned only have minor knocks I can't wait for the season to get going. I can smell it in my nostrils
  9. Omicron is much different compared to previous variants in terms of its risk and consequences Yet public policy hasn’t moved to acknowledge this obvious fact. Talk of mandating the booster makes no sense. There is no evidence to support it reduces hospitalisation (so says the FDA in the US) QR codes, pointless waste of time. Masks, there’s no need anymore (certain limited scenarios accepted). Let’s get rid of the passports and mandates. We should stop demonising the unvaccinated, denying them access to society and robbing them of their livelihood. As much as I dislike the Eagles and enjoy watching them flounder, Jack Darling should be allowed play football. I want society to get back to normal. I want to attend the footy, unimpeded by pointless unnecessary rules and regulations. They may be another variant which is as transmissible as Omicron and as pathogenic as Delta. Make sure we’re ready if it happens, stockpile antigen tests and continue to refine and improve the vaccines. If the worst happens be prepared Other countries are dropping all restrictions. Denmark, hardly a bastion of reactionary right wingers, has lifted practically all restrictions. Hospitalisations are down, ICU admissions are down. We are vaccinated. What more do the powers that be want from us? Even with restrictions lifted people will return to society at different rates. We’ve been through a pandemic so not surprising people will be cautious. It totally understandable. And let’s not forget immune compromised and at risk people. There are quite a few around. They will still need to follow certain precautions The first step to normalcy is governments, state and federal, dropping the restrictions. It will be the signal to people to get on with their lives. I want to see full houses at the G to cheer on the mighty Dees. I think its time.
  10. We badly need to get the Adelaide loss out of our system and our season back on track The Suns have improved. This will not be an easy game. I want to see a consistent 4 quarter effort. And a more direct style of play. Oppositions know that pressure disrupts our handball through the corridor approach so don;t invite them onto us. Hanks is a big loss. she's a super player. But we should still have enough to win this game Dees by 15 points
  11. Great to see this thread going strong Fond memories from 2021 but I haven’t looked at a replay or any snippets for a while now. My mind has turned to 2022 and our quest for back-to-back flags. I can’t wait to get back to the G for the games Go Dees
  12. Hanks is our best player across the first 4 rounds. Huge out Suns have improved. We tend to have mid season form losses. This is a definite danger game
  13. Does anyone actually know what’s going on with his contract or are we playing a guessing game? My guess. 5 years which will take him through to the end (or close to) of our window. Can’t see why he wants to go home in the next couple of years when he has done all the work to get us into a position to contend? Why watch a replacement capitalise on his hard work? I say this as a long time critic. He has earned the right to stay on his terms. The players love him, the footy department love him. Benchmark against Hardwick, Clarkson etc. and pay him the going rate.
  14. it went into remission but can flare up at any time
  15. 5. McNamara 4. Goldrick 3. Hanks 2. Gay 1. Sherriff
  16. Big time reality check. We avoided a smashing because the Crows were woefully inaccurate so not too much damage done percentage wise. And thankfully we won;t play the Crows every week We will not win this comp trying to weave pretty patterns. Game plan is not fit for purpose. Leaders? Where were you all? The reality is we've played 3 good quarters this year. the rest has been pretty ordinary. Way too disjointed. The gap between best and worst is a chasm. The coach has work to do. He's been there long enough The Suns next week so we have a chance to get back on track. We can't let this defeat turn into a bad run of form like prior seasons
  17. Goldie having a crack as usual. She needs some help
  18. Crows bringing the heat and out-muscling us. They appear physically bigger and stronger. Lucky we're not further behind. Badly need to wrest momentum back here somehow, stick some tackles, or it will be a long day
  19. birch should have knocked that away for a rushed behind, not smart adelaide red hot. we need to settle
