  1. Love the gameday threads. When you're not able to attend it's the closest thing to sitting in the MCG terraces surrounded by passionate and sometimes slightly inebriated supporters (and the odd nuffy).
  2. Interesting. I heard that more as disappointment with their lack of discipline giving those away, but either way I'm delighted we're provoking those responses.

Yep. Some fair players have donned that number, even if we only go back to the 90s.

Delighted for JVR. May he have a long and prosperous career in the Red & Blue!
  5. There was an observation in the gameday thread I recall that said Oliver had a spew before the game started. Could be something there.

If there's a silver lining here this gives him some valuable time to recover from the thyroid issue, also he'll hopefully have fresher legs at the business end of the season.
  7. It's a shame there wasn't recent history of MFC talls heading to freo for the go-home factor only to struggle with sky-high expectations and cop grief from fans and the press over there.
  8. Has Luke Jackson taken a mark since H&A 2022?

I cannot express my relief at this news. I felt sick last night and feared for Maxy's career this morning as the consensus was settling on it being an ACL. That would have had huge ramifications for our season and would have been a tragedy for Max's career. If we go deep this year and he recovers in the 4-6 week window, he could still crack 200 games this year. Fingers well and truly crossed. He is so important to our team and our club.
  10. I'll take an 11 point loss given the first 3 and a half quarters.
  11. Oh a monumental boo-frickrn-hoo. Caught up with a Hawks supporting friend several years ago. Asked him how many flags he'd seen in his lifetime. His honest response "I can't remember." I was pretty sure it was about 10. 1 for every 4 years of his life to that point. Long may their descent continue.
  12. Fantastic to see how much it meant to him at that presentation. Well done to the club and all involved. Speaks well too to the fantastic engagement with former players that has been fostered over several years now.

Lo and behold we play West Coast in round 4. Vested interest much?
  14. Tomlinson looked so much more assured with his body than after coming back from his ACL last year. Hats off to him, I thought he was done. Wonderful to see. First game live for my two boys tonight. Great way to break them in. đŸ˜€ Carn the mighty Demons!
  15. The fecal matter content of Ugle-Hagan's bed is immense after that quarter.
  16. Superstar Koz.
  17. Crowd really noisy that qtr. Great football.
  18. Spargs on track for an 80 goal season
  19. To be fair it felt a little more like crowd [censored] for tat after the boos Hunter was getting from the Dogs fans.
  20. The bars were packed in the Olympic stand. Ppl finding their way to their seats now. Sparse in AFL members and Ponsford top decks though.
  21. The power imbalance (captain vs younger teammate) adds a disturbing overlay on this.

It'd be a bit safer if we only included players that had actually signed on to the year in question.

I'd expect the chances are pretty low - 6 games is more than a quarter of the season. Surely in terms of forwards in 2023 we have BBB, TMac, JVR, Fritta all pickable ahead of him (granted the first 3 are bigger fwds than Melksham's role). We have Kozzy too - Melksham isn't replacing him. Nor does he cover ANB's Kms. Would he be ahead of Chandler next year? Even if so, there's got to be multiple injuries between him and senior selection. I'll always have a soft spot for him - his 2018 was great, but I'd worry for the state of our 2023 season if he's getting 6 games.
  24. Really enjoyed his work with the club. Sad to see him go but was inevitable I suspect given his media talents.
