  1. "Zero defense"? Had 6 tackles and 15 pressure acts in 60% game time while playing mostly a different role at the other end of the ground. Not a very accurate call. Had a poor game, but look at the context of why.
  2. Not sure that's true mate. Jacko only had 3 centre bounce attendances against the Dogs and spent most of his time near the wing. 9 hitouts, I wouldn't call that 'ruck first and foremost'. 3 CBAs. 9 hitouts. 60% game time. Weid was in our top 5 for distance covered per game last year. Unless you're meaning 'athletic' in terms of leap? Gawn barely leaves his feet in the ruck, so not sure that it's absolutely crucial. Sure, but not if he's doing hardly any rucking. No one is an 'alternative' to Jackson. There's very few players in the league who can do what he does. But in terms of the ruck/forward role; of course Weid is an alternative given that's the exact role he's been playing at Casey.
  3. I agree Jacko is out of form, and before this game I was keen to rest him as well, but maybe he's not actually tired? Maybe the club have looked at his training, fitness and GPS numbers and just decided he's simply not involved enough? Just a thought. Given he hasn't been rested, I'm expecting a tweak to his role.
  4. Need to get Jacko involved more and also get some unpredictability in our hitouts... Seems an obvious fix there for mine. Hoping Jacko gets a lot more ruck time and Gawn is left to float more, especially forward.
  5. Reckon we're going to see some changes in their mix and roles this week.
  6. Personally I think we should be looking to add a more specific lockdown small into the backline mix before finals. It's gradually becoming more and more of a concern how easily we're scored against once the ball is on the deck inside defensive 50.
  7. Not totally sure, but my guess would be that he's perceived as more of a pure small lockdown defender and our defensive setup this year seems to require more rebounding small defenders.
  8. We're allowed to train on Optus apparently, so you'd think they'd do that a bit...
  9. Semi-related, but this is FANTASTIC from our sponsor: And to make their stay even more comfortable, club sponsor Red Bull have already come to the party. The energy drink giant is arranging the installation of a golf simulator, table tennis tables, video game consoles and even a basketball ring in the corporate spaces inside Optus Stadium.
  10. Nah, going by AFL site all the games on Sunday are on Fox. Would think due to Olympics, but still, not great.
  11. Weirdly though, Ch 7 are only broadcasting two games.
  12. Fair enough mate.
  13. "UPDATE: Clubs preparing to fly in and out of Queensland for Round 20 All parties are increasingly confident the AFL will gain an exemption from the Queensland government to stage two games in the state this weekend. Although there is no formal word, Port Adelaide is preparing to fly in and out of Queensland on Sunday to face GWS and Melbourne has been told it should be ready to do the same on Saturday." UPDATE: Clubs preparing to fly in and out of Queensland for Round 20
  14. Latest word around the footy journos is the most likely scenario we fly in and out of QLD on Saturday.
  15. I think it's probably just the TV thing. Agree they're coming up high more, but not sure they're getting 'cheapies' up the ground.
  16. Ah ok. Hilarious.
  17. You've got your wires crossed somewhere there mate...
  18. Has been playing clearly sore for a while, and apparently has had a very very light week on the track - Which could either mean he won't get up or they're just managing him towards the game.
  19. I'm not sure we call Hibberda lockdown defender after the Dogs game tho, and he's been very fumbly below his knees the last month.
  20. It would clearly be more than 1 week given the time between games, traveling, quarantine periods and potential for worse. Nothing 'soft' about putting your family ahead of your job.
  21. Interestingly, Goody mentioned today that the quality of where we're getting our shots from isn't what it should be.
