You want to include praccy matches? Get serious mate. I literally did, and then you decided stats don't tell the story, but ok...

Mate. It was a short sharp production about our premiership with a bit of context to how much it meant, not a 2 hour episodes, 10 season epic on every single aspect of our history...

His last 5 performances in 2021... v Crows - 12 disposals (10 kicks), 4 marks, 1 goal, 5 tackles, 5 score involvements v Cats - 14 disposals, (12 kicks), 4 marks, 3 goals, 3 tackles, 7 score involvements v Lions - 7 disposals (6 kicks), 1 mark, 2 goals, 2 tackles, 3 score involvements v Cats - 13 disposals (9 kicks), 3 marks, 3 goals, 1 tackle, 6 score involvements v Dogs - 4 disposals (2 kicks), 0 marks, 0 goals, 3 tackles (all inside 50), 1 score involvement I'm interested as to which 4 games out of those you're classing as poor? Statistically I guess you could point to the Grand Final as a 'poor game', but his forward pressure as well as his blocking and shepherding were valuable contributions. If you want to do a purely stat-based comparison to his first 5 games it works out like this (average per game): First 5 Disposals: 9 Marks: 2 Goals: 1.6 Tackles: 3.6 Score Involvements: 7.4 Last 5 Disposals: 10 Marks: 2.4 Goals: 1.8 Tackles: 2.8 Score Involvements: 4.4

I'm sure you'll get a bit of everything mate. How about you wait for the complaining until you've actually watched it? Just an idea.

To tell the story properly you need to give the context to it. I love the 'redemption' tale and the whole Norm Smith Curse stuff, it makes for a fascinating back story to our incredible premiership. Much more so than just 'the Dees won heaps of games and then won the flag'...

I mean, it hasn't even aired yet...

Didn't wanna start a new thread when the doco airs tomorrow, but felt apt to post this here...

If your model is 2016 or earlier you'll have to search for "Freeview App" through the Samsung Hub/Store and download/install it.

I agree, there definitely should be 50s for genuine abuse. IMO they set the bar too low for it in our game though.
-
Actually thought the delay ones were fair tbh. Lingers has been taking the [censored] with that for a fair while and I hate it when players do that fake pointing thing to delay the game. The Oliver one has been an automatic 50 for as long as I can remember, honest mistake or not. I'm keen on cracking down on the delay of game ones. The 'abuse' ones in our game tho.... sheeesh... Hopefully the backlash and attention from our game will mean it will settle in before round 1. Always happens with new rules, I remember tons of 50s the start of last year when players standing the mark lost their balance, moved a foot slightly or sneezed, but that settled in after a while.

Would love another one, more like the traditional family day, I just think given COVID is still hanging around that perhaps the club decided the premiership celebration would cover that base? It's always a great day, my kid and my friends kids that all go along together usually enjoy the animals and the ice creams more than anything footy related though, so I just reckon the big day at the G has given us something unique in that way. That's just my experience anyways. It's just a different scenario to usual unfortunately, so I'll hold fire until I see what the club does to engage kids more once there's more certainty around which way everything is going.
-
My young kid, who hasn't reached an age yet where footy is a massive interest, is still talking about the big day at the G and how good it was. Club did an amazing job on the day, and I don't recall there ever being 35k at a family day in the past. Pretty clearly that was our family day, and I reckon we've got more excited kids still buzzing from that than the Hawks or Pies do from watching training and seeing a mascot from at least 1.5m away.

Love Petty and I personally would have him ahead of Tomlinson currently just on recent form, but people have forgotten how good Tomo was early last year. He also had the best loss % of defensive one on ones before injury. I don't think you have to be quick or dominate aerially to be All-Australian. There's more than enough players throughout the history of the AA team that point to that too. I don't think he would have ended up AA last year had he not been injured, but you have a short memory if you can't recall people talking about how important he was. Tomlinson, who will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, conceded just one of his 21 one-on-one contests this season to have him ranked as the most miserly defender for contests lost. https://www.afl.com.au/news/621252/the-young-forwards-coming-for-tom-hawkins-crown The fantastic form of defenders like Steven May, Jake Lever and Adam Tomlinson has been crucial. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/the-demon-denial-why-melbourne-s-defence-is-at-its-best-since-1965-20210420-p57ks4.html Melbourne – Adam Tomlinson Melbourne’s defence are finally starting to find some synergy and after superb performances from Jake Lever and Steven May in Round 1, it was Adam Tomlinson’s turn to impact the contest. While he didn’t light the stats sheet alight, Tomlinson was a rock in defence as the Saints tried to claw their way back in ‘Spud’s Game’. The 27-year-old finished with 17 touches at 94 per cent, an equal team-high 11 marks and four rebound 50s. https://www.aflplayers.com.au/news-feed/stories/unsung-heroes-round-2-4 Melbourne- Adam Tomlinson With Steven May substituted out of the game before half-time, Adam Tomlinson had to step up, suddenly presented the challenge of playing on Tom Hawkins. And he did. Tomlinson kept the reigning Coleman Medallist to only two goals, which forced Geelong to search for alternative options going forward. Tomlinson, despite only touching the Sherrin eight times himself, was as important as any Demon on the ground. https://www.aflplayers.com.au/news-feed/stories/unsung-heroes-round-4-5

Underselling Tomo I reckon. There were stages early last year people had started talking about the possibility he would be AA.

9th in the entire league for average tackles inside 50 in 2021. (2nd for us) But sure, he doesn't tackle.

Probably the most flat out incorrect thing I've ever read here. Bizarre comment.

Another Pert fail... ;) -
I don't agree that's his role.
