  1. That was a key strategy taken from the review at the end of 2020. It was put in place by the club that Yze would be in the box and Goody at ground level, and they would have very defined separate responsibilities so that Goody was able to be more player support and feedback focused and Yze more tactics and strategy focused. We've talked about it a bit, but really that review and how Goody took it on board has been the making of both him and a premiership.
  2. Hibberd's calf not too bad apparently, confirmed will miss, but not too far off. Also interesting we did the captain's run at Port Melbourne.

Liam Ryan now too (if not already mentioned).
  4. Agree to disagree. Didn't mean to start an argument mate.
  5. The theme seems to be "start a revolution". The other things are just things he referenced in his speech: "Beveridge referenced some of the world’s greatest problems such as the recovery effort from COVID, climate change and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine." “On a more football-centric scale our Bulldogs revolutionary intent is to establish ourselves as a benchmark of the competition over a sustained period of time and through this generating a groundswell of support that challenges the highest memberships in the competition, broadcasters of the game and nurtures partnerships with existing and potential people and entities.” “I can say that I have great confidence in the fact we have exceptional people who are searching for their own personal power and their own capacity to firstly make the choice and take up the challenge for our club and secondly to be someone we can rely on to be first-class citizens and influence society in the way our community foundation does." Beveridge plots revolutionary road for Bulldogs Doesn't seem too crazy to me.
  6. Haha yeah the song thing is getting ridiculous hey! We don't know exactly how he presented it, did you think Goody 'filled the young kids heads with show tunes' last year? My point is, Bevo is a smart operator, he'd be looking for a way to make them move on from obsessing over that loss, perhaps that whole thing is his way of doing it. I don't think it said anywhere their 'theme' for the year is all of those things you mentioned did it?
  7. You never know, there could be method to his madness there. After such a devastating loss it would be hard for them to move past it and easy to become obsessed with that one game. I wonder if he's deliberately chosen to put a lot into their minds before the season as a way of distracting from it? Would be exhausting for them trying run off revenge all year.

My guess would be in that scenario MFC would not have wanted it getting out that Jackson was open/looking for a trade before Cerra had decided who he would nominate. Cerra and his agent ruled us out because they couldn't see how we would get the deal done, which is always a bit of a nightmare for agents and player (see above comments re Bobby Hill). Look, I'll cop the blame for maybe not explaining it clearly enough, maybe because I understood what I was saying I thought others would automatically get it (standing aside the usual posters who like to have a crack no matter what), but given our lack of attractive picks, our lack of attractive future picks, and no obvious link with other players who would attract decent trade value, I don't see why people seem so upset that it made me worried Jackson could be linked. I get it that others may not agree with my way of thinking about it, but honestly, the personal attacks and screaming down has been over the top. (Not directed at you obviously).

What do you think we planned on trading to get Cerra then?

I'm not the one who has kept it going. Demonland, clearly, isn't just for facts.

It's been explained now, so that's not my problem anymore mate. Because from what we can tell, the trade was shutdown by Cerra and his agent as they couldn't see how MFC could get the deal done. Would be too much of a risk for them not getting a deal done and Cerra having to stay (which if you've watched the series is a pretty devastating outcome for Bobby Hill). The agents are way more involved in facilitating trades it seems judging by the doco. I agree Jackson would be worth more than Cerra. As I mention above, perhaps Jackson wasn't in a panic go get out in 2021. This is 100% just a thought, an idea, not sure how much more I can clarify that before certain posters start getting 'upset'.

Shock horror, someone is giving their opinions on a footy board. Thoughts and prayers. Put me on ignore champ.

Not sure how you fail to see it tbh. Jackson is yet to re-sign and is from WA, it's not rare for players to request trades home. We were going after a WA player with seemingly no way to get the deal done with draft picks and with Jackson as the only immediately obvious currency. Personally, I don't think Dogga has fully made up his mind about going home or staying in Melbourne, which I think is why he hasn't re-signed yet. Absolutely no chance we put him on the table as far as the club instigating it if that's what you're suggesting? If, and I repeat IF, Dogga had said to the club 'I would like to go home, but there's no rush to get it done this year (2021) if you can't get a good deal' then to my mind that would make sense of both situations: 1) Going hard for the Cerra trade 2) Jackson not re-signing yet. I hope he signs, and gut feel is he's more likely to than not.

Good one mate. My point was we were going pretty hard for a WA player when seemingly our only trade currency was Jackson. Obviously there may have been other plans on how to get it done, but with all the talk about him and him yet to re-sign it's just a little worry for now until he puts pen to paper.
  16. I reckon Jason Taylor would have been remembering the similar highlight he showed the coaches when talking about him pre-draft that Goody and Richo both loved.

Oh good, you're still stalking me. Perhaps you can read the bits where I said "makes ME a tiny bit worried" and then "but hopefully"... Pretty clearly that's me giving my own thoughts on that and not attributing it as a quote by anyone. I appreciate your concern about my own internal thought process, but I'm not sure you need to be continually posting about it on the internet. You seem to often be upset by what I post, so might I suggest for the sake of your mental health you just put me on ignore. Have a ripper day Ethan Tremblay.

I'm more than happy to apologize if my post was misleading, but I've read it back numerous times and not been able to draw the same conclusion as you. Can you quote the part where I said a player agent said Jackson would be traded? I'll absolutely concede my mistake should you point it out, so instead of going for personal attacks maybe show me where I went wrong.

Nowhere did I infer an agent said the club was prepared to trade Jackson. Quite the opposite if you read the post properly. I said the Dees went really hard at winning over Cerra despite seemingly not having any trade currency other than Jackson and that worried me a little bit. If you read my post properly you'll see the only thing I said re agents was that they thought Melbourne had no way to get the deal done. Perhaps try reading the post again.

That's me giving my own thoughts, that's not paraphrasing, and I hardly think a random posters thoughts on a footy board are "dangerous".
  21. Lord Nev replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Right, so what part of my paraphrasing is incorrect?
  22. Lord Nev replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Nowhere did I say anyone said Jackson was going.

Yeah thought about the future picks, but the agents are all over who has what draft picks, future picks etc so they would have known what we were capable of doing in that space. TBH I more took out of it the positives with the presentation, it was a similar story with Dunstan too, in both of them MFC rocked up with Goody, Yze, Tim Lamb and Richo, definitely showing how much they care.
  25. Lord Nev replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Watching "Show Me The Money" and they've covered MFC doing the "best presentation I've ever seen" (Robbie D'orazio) to Cerra. Not explicitly said, but insinuated a fair few times that they only didn't pick Melbourne because they thought they wouldn't be able to get the deal done. Dees basically said 'don't worry about that' in regards to how they'd get the deal done, which makes me a tiny bit worried about Jackson, but hopefully the agents not thinking Melbourne could get the deal done means Dogga indicated he wanted to stay.
