  1. Thanks mate, good news! Not 100% sold on picking Preuss if he's coming in with only 1 main session with the full team and possibly only 2 with the mids. Plus, his fitness would still be a while off wouldn't it?
  2. You 100% sure? Seems a tight deadline. Quarantine is two weeks, and it's only been 2 weeks and 5 days since MFC announced they would fly up the rest of the players.
  3. 2 games with a lat injury. Don't hate it tbh, gives us unpredictability in the middle for a change. Some people have talked about Preuss, but given he was one of the players left in Melbourne originally is he even out of quarantine yet? Edit - Apologies, 2 games, not 2 weeks.
  4. Might be wrong, but don't think he's quite ready yet. I actually don't totally hate the idea of us having to change it up in the middle. Makes us less predictable. We went on a bit of a run a few years back with Watts and Pedersen doing the rucking I seem to remember?
  5. Rumour is Max will miss the next two games with a lat injury.

Where did you hear that? It's not what's on record: “They asked us to come out publicly support it and as a playing group, we said no. When you’ve got great Melbourne people sitting here saying this is going to happen, you almost get a sense of inevitability given where we were at.” ‘I’d had six or seven pots and didn’t make sense’: How two clubs avoided major AFL merger

The people who run the Dee Army are fantastic people who put in an incredible amount of time, effort and money into what they do. They, and some of the more 'senior' cheer squad members, are among the most 'salt of the Earth' type supporters you could meet and from what I know would not be happy with this kind of thing. In saying that, some of the younger members have shown some appalling behaviour online and I would not be surprised at all if it was one of them who is either in charge of the twitter or posted that specific tweet. Very surprised it's still up.

Those coaches didn't leave until end of season though, so hard to definitively say that was due to the review. Rawlings chose to leave as well, he's a smart operator so I wonder if he saw the writing on the wall. For mine, the assistant coaching changes made last year were more about getting rid of anyone who challenged Goody rather than developing a cohesive environment of different voices. Stubbornness is they key word.

I agree we're going to have a hard time attracting the big name assistants, but having a review doesn't mean we got the review right. The review was done by one of the people who should have been under review. Plus, all they did was shuffle the existing coaches around.

Nothing to do with my thoughts on him as a player, all to do with your disgraceful comments about someone doing a favour for their dying mate. You go sit next to the bed of your cancer-ridden best mate and tell them "no" as they beg you to help. Stop trying to be an outraged internet person and be a grown up.

Garry had already said he didn't have the experience or knowledge to be involved, then his dying best mate asked him to step in. You're criticizing him for that with pretty over the top language. That's a pathetic effort IMO.
  12. OUT: Fritsch, Brayshaw, Harmes, Jackson, Hannan IN: Bennell, Tomlinson, Rivers, vandenBerg, ANB Jackson fan, but he needs a week rest, you could possibly argue the same for Kozzy some time in the next game or two. 4 disposals, 4 hitouts and 0 tackles is a tired young player. Not TMac's fault the structure was all wrong, give him another game to show some form otherwise he's out indefinitely. Hannan has had 0 impact for 2 games in a row. Fritsch not providing enough pressure and doing some dumb things, could argue Melksham has been the same, but his kicking for goal saves him. Gus and Harmes out so we can try a more 'traditional' setup, hopefully our stubborn coach has started to learn we play better when he doesn't try to be too clever for his own good. Tomlinson has hopefully had the tweak needed to bring greater physical intensity. ANB and vB for pressure. Bennell and Rivers for kicking.

Can we please not back the truck over the whole Lyon/Neeld thing again? It's been done to death and those who have had the whole situation explained to them and are still banging on about it are just stubborn nuffies. Garry has always said he doesn't have the abilities or passion to coach an AFL team, it's not going to happen. I'm also not sure why he seems to be the one former player Melbourne people are obsessed with as far as their involvement with the club goes. IF (and it's a big if) we are looking for a new coach next year it could only be: 1) Ross Lyon 2) Clarko with Yze as successor No way MFC goes for another untried coach straight up.

Ah yep! Ironically I was talking about him in another thread when I posted this too! Ruck setup and goal kicking has been horrible this year, doesn't look good for him.

Saving him (us) from starting a thread for each of them...

We've done the Goody discussion to death. Don't think there's much doubt he'll see out the year and probably more likely than not to be there next year. So thought it might be time to discuss the current assistants and potential targets for next year. A football department review will no doubt be starting soon, and the assistant coaches will be seen as the main area we can improve and afford to change. This is just opinion. Alan Richardson - Safe. Contract and experience will keep him there. Troy Chaplin - Probably safe. Backline has been a strength this year despite the chaos around it. Only thing might be his relationship with Mahoney given Mahoney is a high chance to not be at the club next year. Justin Plapp - Gone. Have always liked him, but can't defend how poor our midfield has been both in skills and connection. Ben Mathews - Probably gone. Highly rated in AFL circles, but feel like if we don't lift in his areas then he'll be moved on or he may just feel it's time for a change. Matthew Egan - Gone. Couple of his mates in McCartney and Jennings gone, players either not developing or going backwards. Max Rooke - Gone. Was told he was gone last year but somehow survived. Almost identical to Egan in his KPIs surely not being met and his mates now mostly gone. Sam Radford - No idea tbh. Probably safe purely from the Casey connection. (Have I missed anyone?) That would leave us with a lot of holes to fill. So who do we realistically go for?

None of these have anything to do with Taylor. I'll now wait for you to start a "Sack Tim Lamb, Josh Mahoney and Darren Farrugia (is he even still there?)" thread.
