  1. Valenti's future might hinge on what Luke Ball decides to do in the coming weeks...
  2. Hey I'm no expert, not even close, I tend however to think that there are a few people on here that really know their stuff. In the same breath I find it amazing that so many people on Demonland just write players like Mumford off, suggesting he's not even worth considering. Yet an expert in the field, Paul Roos is willing to offer a 4 year deal worth over one million dollars whilst the current premiers, who just lost him, publicly state their displeasure. Reminds me of the same bunch that wrote Prismall off this time last year and wouldn't entertain us forwarding an offer of Pick 35!
  3. Considering that it is Carlton interested in Bell the option would be Bell and 50 for either 27 or 43. The later more a reality but not particularly appealing for us.
  4. I hate it when people on here get personal, but I'm going to because you need to be told. Demonland was a much nicer, friendlier, more relevant and engaging place when you weren't here Rhino. No hard feelings, but your ego is flat out tiresome.
  5. Interesting to view the Picks as they Stand link on afl.com.au http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=85726 Amazing to think back to the Melbourne, Richmond game earlier this year. A game that for me showed me what real trouble Richmond is in. I thought at the time that they would be active in trade week, trying as best they could to improve their draft position, but I have not heard a thing from them all week. Compare our 4 Picks in the top 18 to their, 4 Picks in the top 44 ! Stunned mullets should be trying, but don't know who or what they have to offer?
  6. One advantage of this trade might be that at least Carlton haven't been compensated with Brisbane's first round draft Pick which they might have spent on a Key Position Forward. Brisbabne less likely to do so given they may have both Brown and Fev.
  7. Interesting. I think Jamar and his manager have the belief that he is about to have a breakout year and this contract allows him an opportunity to boost his currency this time next year. Rather than the so-so ("you're all potential thus far") contract that would have been offered to him this year. I am happy to have the Russian on board, I hope he does have a huge year. We need to start winning games to give our younger players some hope and without a genuine ruckman in the middle like Jamar this was going to be very difficult. I have a small wiggle of faith that Brad can play the role we want him to this year, even if it is just to provide a presence up forward of the physical type. To state the obvious, he needs to kick goals and with our new look midfield, hopefully the delivery into the forward line will give him plenty of opportunities. A interesting, satisfying result.
  8. 23. I like him and suggest that there is plenty of upside to his game with regard to his work around the ground. Also considering his age you would have to think that he is coming into his peak as a ruckman. You would have to think that he is possibly the player we are steering toward the PSD, SB may not be available. I would go so far as to offer a high pick for him and a player if that were to improve our chances.
  9. Apparently this rumor has made it's way onto SEN (big deal, but yeah) Seems absurd though, Brock for 11, 11 for Burgouyne and we lose Jamar... crazy. Especially with even a slim hope of a pathway through the PSD. Think a few bozzos have just equated the rumor of Davey, Harrington and Burgouyne being seen together and Port's interest in Jamar, thrown in a Pick and Bingo !! Crazy talk... surely.
  10. Not happy Jan. Wont go wild as this is just a rumor, but not good on so many levels. This deal would leave us with: No genuine 1st ruck option. No opportunity of drafting a serious KPF prospect. Shaun Burgouyne, no doubt an extremely talented player, but coming in as a mature age recruit under an injury cloud. As other posters have suggested he will draw good opposition player away from our younger more inexperienced players but at what cost? More than happy to receive Shaun through the PSD, Pick 11 + Jamar is TOO MUCH !!! Opps, promised not to get to wound up!
  11. from afl.com.au MELBOURNE is still trying to secure further draft selections in this week's trade period, although any further deals the club is in involved in probably won't occur until Thursday or Friday. Club list manager Tim Harrington said the Demons were pleased to already have four picks in the top 18 of next month's NAB AFL Draft, but gaining more would be sweeter again. "[We're] trying to improve our picking position, really" he told afl.com.au on Tuesday. "We've got 1, 2, 11 and 18, which are great picks, and the others at the moment at picks 34 and 50, so we're just trying to wind those down as best we can. "It'll be the bigger deals that actually go first and then ours later on." After trading midfielder Brock McLean to Carlton for pick No.11 on Monday, Harrington said Melbourne was unlikely to take part in another trade of that profile. "I would think now that the Brock deal is done, we won't have a whole lot of play in trade week," he said. "But that's what we're doing – ringing [clubs] and getting on the front foot and just finding out what's happening out there, so that we might improve the position of the club. "That's what I'm working on in the next couple of days."
  12. Duly noted, frank comment forwarded, doubt will be published. Pathetic. If we were to involve ourselves in Trade week and further (I am hoping we do not), then for me I'm most keen on doing something constructive with 18 onwards. I don't want Jamar or Buckley to leave the club. Jamar will be our number 1 ruckman next year and I'm really hoping Messen can return and show us what he's got and Spencer can continue to develop on the Rookie list. I don't know where PJ fits in amongst all of this. If we were to lose Jamar I believe we would have to pursue another ruckman and in this instance I would hope it would be Mumford. Buckley deserves another opportunity. He has pace is willing to take the game on and I believe that there is plenty of room with a player of those attributes in the side. I am interested in Everitt, when compared to the speculative nature of potential draftees at the 18 mark I just think it would be sensible to trade for a somewhat known quantity. Pick 11 is our chance to speculate on the depth of this draft. 34 for a smoky.
  13. Surely we would only entertain trading Jamar if we could pick up another ruckman? I wouldn't be opposed to trading Pick 50 for Mumford.
  14. This has been confirmed by Jon Ralph on the superfooty Video Blog. Quote: "... they (The Demons) say they're pretty keen to push someone through to the PSD as well, that's part of their strategy. It remains to be seen who that would be."
  15. Good to see you back Vince. Haven't seen you around here in a while. Cheers
  16. I for one am sold. Just to join the groundswell. 20 touches in a side that loses by 40 odd points. Kept up the intensity when others seem to have conceded. Stood up in tackles, ensured he got the handball off, tackled hard himself. Seemed to read the play well. Sound disposal by foot and hand, yes he missed the odd target, but this was of no real concern. Big tank as well, ran the game out when all others seemed stuffed. Good size and reckon the Buckley comparison not too far off.
  17. a few posters posting on the main thread page under SANFL Grandfinal thread.
  18. CleAring kick and run from Trengove out of defense. Great defensive pressure a highlight from Jack so far.
  19. Sorry just going to type random things as they come up. Trengove on the wing. Commentator; Trengove destined to be top 3 pick inn draft. Goal to sturt started with tackle from Jack.
  20. Great effort by Jack to stand up in the tackle and get the handball off.
  21. you'd have to suggest that playing against men at this level a definate head start against other recruits. Dogs kick first goal. Jack skirting the packs. Dogs kick another. Centrals 14 Sturt 2
  22. Great tackle earning Jack a free, first inside 50 of the match.
  23. As Wrathchild has said, this is really just the start of his senior footy in the NT. But he has committed himself to playing in the NTFL up here to give himself a shot at being drafted. I believe he will have to prove himself for at least a season up in Darwin before he comes into consideration at AFL level. I think it is just inspiring to have the cousins and relatives of two of our players (Jurrah and Jetta) getting motived and considering their possibilities because of the achievements of our indigenous boys.
  24. The other Liam… Cousin Liam of our Liam. A goal kicking ruckman. I saw some footage of him playing for the Wanderers yesterday that made me sit up and take notice. Was named best on ground kicking two goals and has got people talking. Again a “project” player, and to be honest this is the first I have heard of this Liam. But a possible smoky/rookie option in the forthcoming years? http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2009/09/2...71_ntsport.html Like his Warlpiri cousin and former Yuendumu teammate Liam Jurrah, Patrick is eyeing his first senior stint in the Top End as a pathway to the AFL. http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2009/09/1...11_ntsport.html But Lajamanu looms as a big threat with Liam Patrick in good form through the middle and up forward… http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2008/09/0...28_ntsport.html SWAN-turned-Crow Liam Patrick put on a haunting performance to earn Arnhem direct passage to the Katherine AFL grand final. Patrick, a former Lajamanu Swan, put on a hulking early performance to give the Crows the edge in their 13.9 (87) to 11.7 (73) qualifying final triumph on Friday night.
  25. Black, who lays carpet for a living in Bunbury, is a powerful, 193cm goalkicker. After kicking bags of six and seven majors in the wet in the WAFL Colts in June, he has soared into first-round calculations. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/pair...f-1225782496517
