  1. Kids always lieโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜‚
  2. Surprised nobody has picked up on this already. FA end of this year. Throw silly money at him to pry him out of Geelong. Double win. Will immediately improve our forward line. Gives us more options.
  3. Is anyone surprised here. Every week it is clearer and clearer what HQ and the commission want. This is just unbelievable.
  4. Question is how many more 5-day breaks are we going to get vs the other teams. Some teams havenโ€™t even had 1 yet.
  5. 100%. My statements are purely on the result. There is a process our club must follow. It is deeply rooted in a culture which prides itself of mutual respect and method. These are intangible. If we follow our process and apply our method, then what i said above, applies. 6+ minimum. Whether that result is achieved by limiting them to < 40 points or us kicking higher than our average of 80-90, im not too fussed (although i'd like it to both).
  6. Welcome back Trac.
  7. Yeo is not playing. he is 30 with recurring groin issues. They will not risk a 2-3 weeker for a potential season/career ending. They are not challenging for the flag but more blooding the new players. I will be shocked if he plays before the mid round bye. WC will finish bottom 4. Bottom 4 teams should be beat by flag contenders comfortably. A comfortable win (in my definition) is 6 goals minimum. Logic is logical.
  8. They are banged up and missing key players (Allan, McGovern, Waterman, Yeo, potentially Darling) pass mark is 6 goals. i would hope that as a response and confidence boosting performance we aim for 10+ goals.
  9. Didnt want to start a new thread but grabbed this from SEN's "Whately and King top 4 weekly rating" and saw Whately with this 3. Melbourne โ€œI've got Melbourne at three because if Christian Petracca is going to play like that, theyโ€™re three with a bullet. โ€œExcept I know that he won't, but I just thought theyโ€™re at three.โ€ Is it me or is that extremely disrespectful re comments on Trac? i was actually really surprised at that comment (in fairness i wasn't listening live so am missing a bit of context). Whately is usually really measured so again it plays to this media narrative around Melbourne of late. Daicos goes missing for 6 games this year and he has one game and suddenly he is the GOAT. Trac has had a far better year so far and has only been below his best (not by much) for the last 2-3 games and is likely second or third in the Coaches Votes. His game against a very good opponent was a class above. Almost like a 16yo playing in U12s - the absolute monstering of that performance was undeniable. Had Melbourne won, the narrative surrounding just how good Trac is would have reignited the whole Dusty 2.0.
  10. It will take a generation or two to change this perspective. We have been irrelevant for almost 4-5 decades with the odd few years where we good but not good enough. Our numbers just dropped away. But in the junior leagues the amount of kids i see wearing Melbourne kit are extraordinary. I hold hope that we will prevail in the longer term. What will secure this and potentially accelerate it, is another premiership. It is just the external perspective that you have to take on board. Its also an easyfix....
  11. Losing Harmes, JJ and Gus in one season. They are 3 premiership players. And you wonder why our midfield has fallen off the face of this earth. Yea a little dramaticโ€ฆ but point to be made.
  12. Sydney will come back to the pack. Happens every year. They havenโ€™t had too many hard games just yet.
  13. No Yeo or Waterman or Allen. They are a bunch of kids with washed out seniors hanging in for dear life. if it ainโ€™t a 10+ goal win, we just lack the ruthlessness that is required to mount a serious threat.
  14. If he ainโ€™t playing afl games in the first 1-2 years, I wouldnโ€™t hold much hope.
  15. Agreed. Itโ€™s very contagious. Similar to last night how Chin, Petty even Fritta all missed easy set shots.
  16. Hayward with 3 goals. Sydney covering the ground so well. They are so fit. It super talented but just have great team discipline and athleticism
  17. Gotta take Cameron off. Big fine coming if they donโ€™t.
  18. We need Freo to beat Sydney to effectively neutralise last nights loss.
  19. โ€œLooks like Cats are off again. This will take the sting out a little.
  20. Why am I not surprised.
  21. i agree with this statement. Its in the same vein as the 5-0 first quarter. You need to assess the whole game in totality. Carlton owned us in the first quarter. Q2 and Q3 was an arm wrestle and we owned them in the last quarter. Walsh, Crippa and Weits had the ascendency in 1st half. Gawn, Lever and Trac in the 2nd half. This game was tight. It was always a goal in it either way. What burns, really burns is that our fate was decided by something beyond the control of the team...umpires. I would take a 10 goal thrashing better than i take a game lost by a dubious umpiring decision. It finds us all too regularly. The Pies and Blues seem to get the roll of the green all too regularly. I have to avoid this thread as im still livid and just recreating the same emotions of last night.
  22. The Blues were shot in that last quarter. If anything we had the advantage. Let that percolate.
  23. This needs to be a 10+ goal victory to make up for last night. No excuses, no mucking around. Get to work and get it done. We need to get on a 5-6 win run to bolster top 4 chances. Top 2 is almost out of reach atm. Cats and Sydney wont be dropping many more games from here.
  24. I looked at it frame by frame last night with what was on the telly and said it wasn't clear enough. My gripe was more aimed at the dangerous tackle which was far more conclusive and the officiating in the first half.
