interested to why the calf strain is associated with the elder statesman of the game. Anyone have a clue?

Looking back at OMac and Frost as our key pillars now makes me shudder. I think we have to really invest in another KPB as May is on the wrong side of 30. He's going to be really difficult to replace as he was more than just a defender as we all know. There are only a few in the comp that could be considered similar - that is they play exceptionally well in the zone, 1:1 and can often initiate the rebound. It is what makes him so valuable. Tom Stewart really is the only other one that comes to mind that is a current player, Moore maybe as well. its a consideration for this year's draft for sure.

But it doesn’t sound like a 1-2 weeker either. My guess will be 3-4.

So the Blues, with 3 talls, struggled all night to keep the ball in their F50. Gives us a taste of Sat night. As long as the Doggies talls arnt clunking it, they’ll struggle to keep it in their forward half.

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years

I’ve said it many times before I’m the LJ and this thread. There needs to be compensation for walking them to the PSD. Until then it’s an incomplete system. -
Robbo reckons Shai top 5 in comp! He is good but top5 ? Please!

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Gawndy the Great replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The fox coverage saying May has hammy but I’ve read Richo’s comments on selection sighting calf. Hopefully it’s not both and that it’s only a 1 weeker. Will need him more next week at the Gabba. -
None of these teams are top 8 material from what I’ve seen let alone top 4 as some have predicted. Time for this game as season kick off to end. I love the GF rematch as the season opener.

So Tommo in… ok then. What are the matchups given Doggies are playing 4 talls? You could have lined Turner up on Darcy, kids played like 2 games. Petty takes JUH Tommo Naughton Lever to Darcy Gawndy on Lobb We really need to dominate midfield and not allow clean clearances to the Doggies otherwise it will be a goal fest. Also read May has a hammy not a calf. did anyone else see that? -

The team seem to really adore him as well. I think he has the potential to become something special, just needs an opportunity. -

The media sure loves to pull us down and talk us up at the same time. It is to be expected when we are at the top. So i choose to take it as a sign of we are doing something right. -

I was afraid about Mays body at this age given his history of soft tissue injuries. I hope it is just a 1 week injury but suspect it’ll be more. Pity given our hard start to the year. Can see the Dogs definitely going with 4 talls now to try and stretch us. -

I agree, that turf is ready grown before it’s shipped in. The big question is has it settled on the deck. -
Same here he is just another Geelong mouthpiece. It’s funny how all Melbourne supporters in the media can maintain a neutral profile but others like Derwayne, Derm, Bucks, Hudson, Whately cannot. Drives me nuts.

Those that got it last year were offered the same for the first three games this year.

Dees Miss Out on $1 Million Champion Club Award

Typical. We would have won it the last two years. But should challenge this year.. Lions are our only real threat. Didn’t think the Cats aflw side was any good. -
Analysis of the Demon’s Forward Line
Gawndy the Great replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Also fails to mention BBB playing on half a leg, Gawn battling through multiple injuries, LJ putting the cue in the rack, Trac playing with a broken leg and the midfield running out of puff after a reduced preseason. Easy to look at TMacs injury as the trigger but that is grossly oversimplifying a year that full was of many issues both on and off the field.- 87 replies

I watched thebi tee ire Trac. It’s hard with Trac - he starts saying he’s super confident, then once pressed was less certain. End of the interview I was just confused. -

That’s a big call I don’t think anyone was definitive on LJ come to think of it. -
Watched the footage of JV’s suspension from a few years back. His elbow was into Collins neck for about 4.5second. The amount of force applied also looks negligible as Collins doesn’t react initially - comparable to when i scratch the belly of my cat for the same amount of time - both then realise what’s going and proceed to freak out. Cotchin’s had much more of a driving force , and from what I can tell seems to apply the arm for about 2-3 seconds. The situation was similar enough, with the same intent and arguably higher force. Loved the way Robbo and sidekick Whately just wave it off in 360. I had to pinch myself as I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
-
How on earth does Cotchin only get a fine when Viney gets 2 weeks? I remember Whately really pushing the case for Vineys suspension but doesn’t seem to care so much about Cotchin. Its pre season and already the MRO has lost credibility.

I agree, there has to be something in it for the club if they decide to make that move. For example. if you march him to the draft, the club gets the pick immediately after the one used to snare the uncontracted player. So if Kozzy was to go this year and was taken at pick 3, we would then get pick 4. Doesn't really help with interstate players as go-home-factor would probably put-off a lot of Victorian clubs and its not always going to be equitable, but at least the club has some bargaining power. -
Granted its pre-season and there is always a 'predictive' component as a retrospective top 50 is boring. I think Petracca is going to have a history making year. His form in pre-season looks so good - I don't recall ever seeing him play this well in pre-season. Max also has a point to proove, given the way we exited finals.

So he wasn't happy with the way he was being played and now he is in an increased midfield role in contract year... So clearly we are going to great lengths to keep him - its a pity it takes the impact of a contract year to make these types of changes. He should have more midfield time last year with Chandler / Bedford getting more of a run up forward.
