Brisbane were not that good last night. We were just plain terrible. Hard to say whether we were shell shocked from Gawns injury. Collingwood play with no fear and have a game plan that is all out attack. Question is whether they can sustain that all year long. All it takes is a single team trying something different to break them down and then all else will follow if it works. It’s early days and declaring flag favourites right now is plain old ridiculous.

Which hopefully will all go to Pickett when he signs.

Is Petty confirmed ? He just had a hyper extended knee and hopefully with some ice and rest, should come up fine with the 8 day break. Even so, Daniher kicked 5 on him so maybe give him a spell with May coming in. I’d look at bringing Hibbo in to lock down Papley and have Rivers take Hayward. Otherwise we match up well elsewhere. I’d look at giving the ball to Hibbo, Bowey coming out of HB. Brayshaw should go back to defensive wing - he’s a liability atm. Maybe we can get Hunter to play a deeper wing role to help with a quicker transition. Because when we do it we are seriously unstoppable.

It’s funny he mentioned that because I did think through out the game, players don’t seem interested in planting there feet and pivoting sharply or trying to evade. They probably had no familiarity with the surface, which let’s face it doesn’t excuse the entire performance but does explain some of the clearance issues. If that is due to surface, then F Me why are we giving these teams an edge? GEELONG with their narrow wings, Sydney and their shorter pitch etc. why can’t we have a level playing field literally and figuratively speaking. Every ground should have the exact same measurements, soil and surface conditions etc or you find another ground or cough up 4 pts.

Best time for it tbh. You can bank 5 of those and we should win at least 6-7 of them. Biggest test next week.

You can read it both ways. No pain = good, so what caused him to leave ground? Instability = bad. However instability can be from any knee ligament injury = good.

I’m not a Physio or work in the medical industry but have read a number of clinical sites which are all non conclusive but suggest that a grade 2/3 ACL or MCL (partial / full year), the pain will almost always prevent you from walking unassisted. Whilst there’s always exception to this rule, given his walking without assistance and what looked like without a limp, suggests there is a good chance it’s only a minor tear to a knee ligament. This is what I’m telling myself anyway to make the minutes go by.

Im assuming the club would know by now. Max would have gone straight to Olympic park imaging from the airport as he lives on the peninsuLa so would have to travel all the way back to the city.

Am with you. Too much focus on a perfect season. We going to lose some early this year and ensure we are fighting fit in the 2nd half where it all matters

I’m sorry but the words and demeanour used by Goody and Richo in the media were not reflective of 95%. Something just doesn’t add up if that test wasn’t positive. I read that even a partial tear of the ACL is also essentially a reconstruction.. I always thought it was only for full ruptures. Which is perhaps what we maybe dealing with here.

I thought the same as well. I think we should expect the worse and hope for the best. As much as it sucks we do have an another AA back up ruckman… not all is lost.

I put that down to really bad planning , communication and leadership in the middle. the coaching group need to have a defensive setup to neutralise this part of the game when it gets out of hand. Goody and Yze were just too slow to react and we never recovered. A major factor was Grundy just not connecting with the mids - that'll get better as the season goes on. We win the hits for crying out loud but got pants. That’s two on the trot to Brissy …. Who’s in who’s head now?

Brisbane were red hot? I didn’t see that at all- it was a bit like Carlton last night - nothing impressive. We were not just a bit off. It was off by a long way almost 2019 like. The signs were there before Maxy went off, but perhaps the game didn’t take shape and we never really took the game on. The finish will give them something to hold onto but deep down they’ll know it was the Lions switching off.

Yeah funny how you wouldn’t know that we were missing 3-4 quality players, 3 potential AAs. I want to call out BBB. 8 goals in 2 games. Great game. Players will get a huge reality check, train hard this week and go into next week with an extra bit of umph. Defensive efforts were wayyy off tonight.
