Yes but the trick is Smith is supposed to be overseas for most of the year. i think we will see him as a board member then assuming Presidency end of 2025.
-
It’s a big call to make especially when we are on the precipice of irrelevance. It’s hard to read 2024. In hindsight was all the off field issues and dodgy preseason the real reason or was it our natural decline. If it’s the later, then you don’t go after him and invest in a mini rebuild, if it’s the exception then you go all out. The reality is we don’t know what the true state of our playing group is, whether Trac and Oliver can return to their full potentials, will Petty come good, can we reinvent our game plan etc. Only the club will and I hope they make the right call for now and the future.

Tayla Harris Out for the Season
Gawndy the Great replied to Demonland's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Let’s make sure we keep in touch with her throughout the surgery. As Andy would say “Too soon?” -
Only so his brand doesn’t suffer. At least on that the club and player have overlapping interests.
-
Well for one he needs a pre-season for the pre-season. If he is having to sit out another month or who knows how long before getting back to full running, then he'll have limited runs on the board when pre-season starts. Instead of doing an Oliver, i think we hold him back and add another fitness block when the season starts. End of the day i dont know what im talking about, but gut feel is he wont be ready by Round 1.
-
The same segment mentioned his frustration with other players not working hard enough or putting in the same amount of work as he does. Be keen to work out who we all think falls into this category. Buckley’s comment mid year comes to mind around skin folds.
-
I dont think Trac plays Round 1. i think he misses the first 4-6 weeks of the season.
-
He is still contracted at the end of 2025. If we address the core issues, then he really doesn't have a leg to stand on unless of course there are other reasons he wants to leave. We shouldnt repeat the same mistakes with Oliver. Dont start Trac until he has effectively completed a preseason where his fitness is close to what he has achieved previously. If it takes an additional 8 -10 weeks for the season, the so be it.
-
I think its more so the trip to Noosa and how it was handled rather than the post injury itself. I think the disconnect between the playing group and himself personally was the crux of the issue and potentially the optics of Trac as a result. I dont see how a disconnect like what is being reported happens though, surely someone had enough brainpower to call him up or even Richo up and be done with it. Still feels a bit trivial though.

Serious? He was looking for an out. 100% can guarantee you that.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
Gawndy the Great replied to Demons11's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have heard an unverifiable rumour so chose to ignore if you wish. Roffey will depart and be replaced by Steve Smith (I think that was the name I heard) former MCC president. -
I did a second coat of some trim upstairs . Not more than 30mins

Yeah I’m with you. Damage is done. I don’t think he’ll be with us in 2026, but by then Pies will have picks for us to use. I think we start an offical death ride Pies thread. Top 5 pick is luming.
-
Exactly. Even if he doesn’t play a single game next year, I’d rather him out of the spotlight so he becomes irrelevant in a football sense. The Trac camp would be stupid to let that happen. It’s 1 year lost in the twiglight of his career. We just have to hold firm.
-
Exactly. I think if push comes to shove, we will absolutely play these cards. 1. Unhappy with med treatment and post injury Comms and want out? Here’s the list managers number for Norf and Richmond. Both have satisfied our trade demands. Take a pick - no need to go down grievance route. 2. Unhappy with standards, game plan, direction etc? Sit your [censored] down and help us out. We will see you at day 1 pre season. If still unhappy we can better deal 2025 draft and get you the Pies who’ll have cap space as half their team will have retired. Well also take their first pick and F1 too. 3. Want to build brand Trac? Good luck with that. If you want a trade to Blues , you must hold a press conference declaring the reasons you want to go otherwise See you day 1 pre season. This is how I’d play every scenario.
-
100% - said this a few days back. The Trac camp is trying to change the narrative back to med treatment on KB. As the brand Trac narrative was damaging.
-
I said multiple times throughout the year that something was off - yes there were personnel issues, but I think this thing with Trac has been eating away at the whole team all year. It’s a good thing this has all come out as I think it will get addressed now.
-
Good one. Any chance you’d want him to goto Collingwood or Carlton too.
-
I seriously think Trac camp is somehow working with the media outlets to bankroll some of this trash. i mean why else would they put this stuff to paper. Even the Kozzy stuff has gone quiet after people realized it was horse****.
-
Jack Silvani? Brodie Kemp? haha they surely are taking the mickey here. Mitch Lewis off an ACL with a F1... This is why its extremely unlikely and why Trac is trying to create an untenable situation.
-
So we have established that she did reach out whilst he was in ICU. Trac confirmed that himself. Now we dont know what was said, but one would presume to offer her best wishes and support and that to let her or the club know what support would be needed. So if we can accept that, the legitimate question i have is, why would she phone him or family up again? She has already done what needed and should have been done. My opinion is from that point, it becomes a FD matter with Pert keeping an eye on the situation. We know this happened, because they suggested or at least agreed to him heading up to Noosa instead of attending games in his recovery. We also know by overhearing Trac apologize to club staff and players in one of WCW training video's that he wasn't responding to sms while he was away. And by extension that club and players were in regular touch. So frankly im not buying anything that the Trac camp is selling in this space, because frankly its smells like [censored]. Like many in the industry (not media) are saying is to do, man-up, help the club rebuild the image that you have damaged, work on the things that need to be fixed, help your friend and leadership peer and captain in Max take the steps required to put this club back in contention. The reality is, none of that is the issue IMV. His main reasons to want to leave are selfish reasons - bigger club - more publicity. And that is something we cannot change or fix right now.
-
It was a very good interview. Pity, nobody in the media circus will pick this up and instead focus on all the speculation or negativity.
-
Right now, any player that doesnt feel under siege is kidding themselves. For those that want to bugger off for whatever reason, can, in my view, bugger off. They are not the players you want to stick around. Trac & Kozzy as good as they are on the field, if they are not completely invested in the club's success, should be traded. And for crying out loud, lets do some character analysis in recruitment. We can still recruit interstate players, Riv, JVR good examples of those that relish playing football. What buggers me is that its for 10 years of your life, 15 if you are lucky. Go home after that. The 'homesickness' maybe there for Kozzy, but it is no doubt bought to the forefront with all that has been happening at the club and it broad lack of leaders. Gawny cannot be fighting on all fronts.

And their CEO ‘stepping aside’ after rumours of yet again racism from the top? Not as much as a bleep.

Best thing about the awards tonight is how little I heard about Daicos. Good job Howie.
