Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
Simply cannot see how she sees out today as Melbourne President after todays interview given what she said back then. Time to go Kate.

Surely there will be nothing nefarious in any of the communications from this PR exercise. He's not exactly going to come out and trash his brand by trashing the club BEFORE a match. If I was a betting man then I would put money on this being a watered down version of his meeting with players during the week. Clearly none of the clubs he would want to get to have the draft capital to make the move happen so for now he will have to remain a demon. May even be some platitudes about how he is a contracted player and he looks forward to next year getting the Dees back into finals.

And that’s precisely my point to those dismissing this as a non-story or just another piece of clickbait. Yes, there’s undeniably a clickbait element at play here, as there always is this time of year, especially when it comes to star players and clubs teetering on the brink of crisis, whether real or perceived. But what concerns me more is that none of the statements coming out of the MFC have directly addressed the underlying issue. The elephant in the room remains untouched. In fact, the way they’re implying that they’ll hold him to his contract, suggesting that supporters don’t need to worry about whether Tracc will remain a Demon next year, almost seems to lean into the narrative that Tracc is, indeed, unhappy and possibly looking to leave. It feels as though they’re saying, ‘He might want out, but we’ve got a contract, so he’s staying, end of discussion.’ This brings up a troubling thought: If he does, in fact, want to leave, will the club really enforce his contract? And if they do end up parting ways with him, will we receive fair value compensation in return? Or will we be left feeling shortchanged, watching a star player walk away for less than he’s worth? I suppose that’s the next issue we’ll all be losing sleep over.

Regarding the discussions surrounding Tracc and whether he should comment on the situation, I strongly disagree with those who think he should stay silent because it's a "non-story." In reality, this narrative has taken on a life of its own. The statements we've received from the Melbourne Football Club, whether from the CEO, the coach, or the captain, haven't been particularly reassuring. They've mostly focused on the fact that Tracc is contracted for next season, with Goodwin stating firmly that he will be playing in the red and blue next year. But once again, this implies the club is relying on his contract to keep him, rather than providing any clarity on his desires. What’s notably absent is Tracc’s own voice in all of this. We haven't heard directly from him about whether he wants to stay or leave. Maybe it is just a rumor, or maybe he’s waiting until the final siren of Round 24 to address it. We simply don't know. But dismissing the narrative won't make it go away. It's also reasonable to assume that Tracc isn't entirely pleased with what’s unfolded at the MFC over the past 12 months. Frankly, no one connected to the club, from supporters to the players and staff, should feel satisfied with the current state of affairs. Everyone should be demanding changes to get the club back on track. The only way to definitively put this narrative to rest is for Tracc to come forward and unequivocally state his commitment to being a one-club player with the Demons. Without that, the speculation will continue to grow, and the uncertainty will only deepen leading to any potential recruits getting cold feet about joining a club that their best star may not even want to be at.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Fantastic clubman and I'll be in Oz for the BNF this year and can't wait to give him a well deserved standing ovation when he places in the Top 5 of the Bluey. Love ya Nibbler.

Time to go Goody?
Not gonna lie but I'm on Team McQualter to the Eagles.

Dan Houston
Oh well. We were never going to give Port pick 6 for him so good luck Dan at whichever club you end up at.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Hopefully Clarry can put the season from hell behind him. Get his mind and body fit and healthy and get back to playing his best footy which is the best footy I've seen from almost any of his contemporaries.

PODCAST: Rd 22 vs Port Adelaide
We had two players, Woey and Bowey pull out of the game because of illness prior to the match. Do you think a few other players were under the weather, perhaps with COVID? Clarry, questions marks on fitness due to interrupted preseason aside, certainly seemed off the ball. A few others as well. Yes there are also questions marks on our general fitness and ability, or lack thereof, to run out games but do you think our lack of run in the last could be put down to illness in the squad?

I'm looking forward to another monster podcast this week as my only link to credible information about the club that I love. Thanks for all your hard work guys. Demonland, the match previews and reports, the training intel and the Podcast is so invaluable. You can't imagine how much it is appreciated by those of us bereft of any news, info and banter in our daily lives. Living across the ditch I only get the footy info that I actively seek out which is mostly via Demonland and some social media. As a result I know next to nothing about the current crop at Hawthorn particularly since they have thankfully been largely irrelevant since we knocked them out of the finals in 2018. I know they have an exciting crop of young midfielders and have been ravaged by injuries in the early part of the preseason and may have their Captain and best defender in Sicily out this week. Other than that I know squat about our opponent this coming week. Can you shed some light on what we can expect this week and who is likely to trouble us.

PODCAST: Rd 19 vs Adelaide
Excellent Podcasts the past few weeks guys. Top Stuff as always. I thought our pressure was well down this week. Would be interested to hear what the pressure guage was for this match as Binman will no doubt speak to in his Stats File segment. We had 1 measly tackle Inside 50 to 13 for the Crows. We average 12 a game usually so we were well down on that stat. Adelaide average 10 so they were well up with their 13. The Crows had 69 tackles for the match up on their average 66 a game whilst we only managed 47 tackles well down on our average of 60 a game.

PODCAST: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Thoughts on the Grawndy experiment up forward. It's just not working for mine. Neither of them is contributing much up forward and seem to clog up the forward line at times. I would prefer we play another genuine tall up forward instead and rest the ruckman on the bench or a kick behind the ball. Despite winning the Hitouts I thought they both lowered their colours against Marshall around the ground this week. 30 disposals, 10 marks, 7 inside 50s and 7 intercepts. Comnbined Grawndy had 29 disposals, 9 marks, 6 inside 50s and 0 intercepts.

Time to put the 'Kozzy Form Slump' bias to bed!
I can't imagine Kozzy will be dropped by the Footy Department but he probably should be. He looked disinterested at times and seems to have zero confidence. Not sure dropping him will have the desired result unfortunately. I'm at a loss at what can get him back to sizzling form. I thought midfield time would do it but sadly I don't think that will help.

PODCAST: Mid Season Review 2023
I'll second the Big Love for the podcast. All three of you offer a great insight into both our wins and losses. It's essential listening for me each week and a break from the so called experts in the media. Thanks for your hard work and dedication in preparing and producing the podcast each week. We've had 3 debutants pull on the Red and Blue Guernsey this season and all three have had an impact. Love to get the panel's thoughts on Brodie Grundy, Lachie Hunter and the Juddster. Are we likely to see another debutant before season's end and if so who will it be?
