Nothing has changed with Adams not available it still makes their defence worse. I am commenting and posting an opinion on the Lions defence after watching it for the last 4 years since they returned to the Finals. Nothing other than Coleman in the team has solved their style of defence. He is a very good disposer rather like Salem for us.
-
Could be but I watch them when not down fir Dees games and they are lethal at home. Yes Hipwood will be big this year as he will be fully fit after 2021 injury ( same as Tommo will surprise us all this year for same reason). Ran away from Lever in that last Quarter in the Demi and moved as he had not for 2 years. Will be his best year yet.
-
Probably forgot!!! Smithy is up for his 70 th year of coaching!!!
-
Harmes and ANB plus Hibbo if fit will survive but I would add Chandler. Hope he gets a spot early days along with an extended games program.
-
Backline us still their Achilles heal. Mark my words unless they change (tweak perhaps) their method if defending it will still be opened up like we did to them 3 times last year.
-
I think that you will find Judd has developed physically in the off season and is one of the 2021 recruits that has made improvements in his game. According to some track watchers and MFC officials.

I think both you and I and over 300,000 Dees fans know the reasons and it is when he loses his judgement and has a session on the grog. Both his misdemeanours have occurred with us after drinking spells and we all know the evils and of human beings failings in this regard. Maysie is human so we are at the back of our minds hoping that this does not rest it's ugly head again in the next 3 years. Stephsn is otherwise an extraordinarily well committed player and Club man who if he plays out his career like his last 3 years with us may well be judged our greatest full back ever if we jag another one or two flags between now and the 25/26 seasons. Tassie Johnson is without peer still but Maysie is probably a more overall influence in defence out on the field in the games he plays.

Don't think Riv will bother to kick to the forward pockets unless Fritta JVR or BBB lead there. Anywhere within 50m he is entitled to a well lined up serious shot for goal. Hope Chocco gets to him at training and guides him. About Joel Smith playing forward and missing a practice shot I presume it is the one where players turn side on and and screw the ball around on the side. Can't imagine that Smithy would be able to place the ball side on his boot. Just let him kick it straight or teach him properly how to do it. Ironically we have enough players that miss easy set shots in front from 25m out. We must improve in this area to fully convert our opportunities.

Great news Maysie. Congrats on extending your time at the Dees. Let's make it a big 3 flags!!! Great that you are seeing the promise in the team.

The other great facilities Dogs have one Flag in about 25 years also !!! The ground GMHAB or whatever does not guarantee flags it adds to home ground advantage but it's 40k Is irrelevant really when considering training. The ground is no better and not MCG size! Also One Flag in 2 years at Casey beats 35 years at Whitten Or dome Uni Oval and the Lexus Holden or Other Centre for the Pies. Has much more to do with the human side of Sport or Football than the deck you train on. Casey Facilities are tops and ground surface as good as AFL grounds. The new indoor change and Gym and recovery facilitiesare state of the art. Goschs is a good second venue slightly thinner on the wings but has convenience and they MCG nearby feel plus other items like a scoreboard and gym are serving their purpose. We are not behind it's the office/ admin/ football dept that are not able to communicate as easily as I suspect. As for Casey being too far yes but the MCG is too far for others but never a complaint there!!!

No I am guilty of not proofing my posts regularly but the KB weekend match is well known and always on TV! The other is easily identified and only ONE letter a R for aY. I have never met a group of fusspots as the D/L core of VFL trajics and critics. Items such as fixtures, byes, eligibility, times of day and prob the most important alignment with the corresponding AFL match that weekend.
-
Ask our Premiership VFL players if they don't floor you before they answer you! Yes WAFL and SANFL May be better organised but VFL would still rate above those comps, even with the byes. You may not realise that AFL have 2 byes per team and very little criticism there. BTW Have you seen any matches recently ? Last years VFL Dees Finals ?
-
Mickey Mouse enough for our Casey Dees ( About 14/15 Dees players involved ) to be PREMIERS. Do you really know how hard it is to Run a competition over 3 states with 21 Teams? Served us well last year as a training ground and will give us our next Full forward for the next 10 years. Provides football for all our players as well.
-
The May one could easily be a typo snd it's well known we play aPies on the Sunday at Casey as in the last few years. Also it's prob not the AFL getting out this draw but the VFL and Smithy's fault.

Depends on your approach. Hawks have made Tas good and profitable and GWS go well in Canberra. To say that FBend won't provide some supporters or new fans is simplistic and negative if you have a plan and cover the schools etc plus offer newcomers opportunities to be included a new audience can always go your way. It takes some time and money initially but 20,000 new people are just that and AFL is as good a sport as any to start following.

I think the practice games will give Lachie the opportunity to show how good a winger and link player he is and his footy smarts and experience will add another dimension to our mid field forays to the forward line. I would also expect that despite the wings that they will play on it would be possible to switch them during a game if need be, or if the MCC members "requested" Lingers to showcase his skills on the members side of the ground if we are 10 goals up or more.
-
Don't agree Short stints of Maxy in the forward line yes please but don't clog up the movement if BBB is on fire and Tmac performing. JVR will be ok either way.
-
Agree Stinga good point. JVR won't be left behind or too much in the air as his ground work as displayed at Casey last season was a real strength. His ability to gather ground ball gets and forward them on by deft touches handballs plus his snaps for goal from some of those situations will surprise ( and thrill and delight us all ). This forward line beast can be all things to all forward contests and is never out of the game. With two mates in Fritta and Kossie skilled similarly he will add another dimension to our attack on any conditions as a further bonus. Goody please bring him on sooner rather than later. He is AFL ready both in mind and body and the MCG is ready to provide him with his playground and friends to come and play.
-
Think Lachie is more finished and JJ is still improving. Both could be in our best 23.

Grr-owl understood DS and replied. Point taken though.

Fair enough good point Grr-owl

Wonderful Report Furious. Sounds as though reviews and some soul searching have elicited some missing items in last years season especially in comparison to 2021, not just the fitness freshness angle that stood out. 2021 was always going to be bloody hard to replicate but that's what making subtle changes to the team helps keep all on their tows. I think their is collective agreement within the A team from last season that we were not as committed and unified as 2021 so it's great to see that this standard is already producing a greater overall standard that will undoubtedly be needed along with some tweaks and I think areas of greater player improvement which will make us a very hard team to beat when the whips are cracking. Fantastic report on Coaches Forum has me absolutely convinced we have taken our medicine last year and are hell bent on success this season. Can't wait to see us out on the G winning those last halves instead of falling short. Go Dees !!! Make 2023 our 14th Flag and rule this extraordinary bloody hard competition again. Love the sound of "The Reigning Premiers" or the written words also!!!
-
Thanks Delightful Can't wait to your finalised report on the Training today. Every session brings up new options and prospects for Club to consider. Very good group of young players on the rise and about 10/12 A graders in the list if they return in top form or continue on their rise in our ranks.

Who's Chin please?

Agreed very informative. Think watchers should take into account this is the third training run ( I know others were light Capt Style runs to partially please the special fans who supported the boys so well) this week and some allowance for small jiggles etc is justifiable in match sim esp. But I have to admit I like the fair dinkum one on ones between aspiring backs and forwards and of course our proven stars and also the odd champs scattered on the field. Long May this lead our standards.
