Some Shovel humour on the SA CHO's mega-gaffe: https://www.theshovel.com.au/2021/06/03/afl-matches-in-adelaide-to-go-ahead-without-ball/
  2. Pointsbet Dees 1-100 win and Trac + goals paying 3-1. Interesting to see what the bookmakers are marking some of the disposal and goal odds at. Oliver 1+ goal at 2.45 interesting.
  3. Eh, that is some serious firepower. What has been the differential, ie how many have they let through. All well and good to kick 102 but if you let 98 in... Edit: from The Roar Agree on last point. Reckon the back 6 are going to be hellbent on that. Lever took it as a personal affront that Adelaide scored so highly. Love it.

This is it - keep winning and the business takes care of itself. Sponsors, gate, memberships, TV blockbusters. There's still a chance to get a game to the NT. GWS home game maybe? Adelaide home game? Have to weigh up the 700k (whatever it is) against Fortress MCG - number 1 priority should be wins, not revenue - wins take care of that. We need a top 2. Insurance against losing first week and having to go interstate.

Many sweaty men - a new meme sensation Wasn’t aware sweat was a vector! cannot give Adelaide QBW now - Sydney or Gabba unless MCG can be 50% or similar (I’m betting that could happen)
  6. I always find these pejorative soy posts puzzling
  7. Are clubs able to ask the umpires to watch Max for example based on the Lions’ previously indecorous behaviour ? We could always do the same
  8. There’s probably 30000 Port fans who want to see us k1ck the pants off them /hubrismode

That’s a fabulous result - let’s hope they can concoct something for the QBW game perhaps at the Gabba
  10. QBW game now at risk
  11. 6 days to get tested.

Contingent on throwing open walk in Pfizer for 18-<50. I should have caveated that. I get the sense we are at the stage we can open it up, such is the hesitancy amongst the eligible, and given the available supply. This is particularly the case in Vic. The hesitancy in health workers is worrying.

This is where the idea of vaccine passports have merit. You vaccinated? You can attend with mask and relevant capacity limits and spacing (none of this closed upper deck nonsense).
  14. Play this in Sydney/Giants, get up there ASAP and acclimate. That's nearly 2 weeks for NT quarantine. With nearly 2 weeks quarantine out of the way, and daily testing, we should be able to take the Pies QBW to Alice, get the 700k (TBC $), hopefully the 4 points and head into the bye. Tell them we split the 700k with them if they split the gate next year, and if they won't go, insist to the AFL we get QBW@home next year. If things go t*ts up in Vic in that time - head to the sunny coast (or NNSW!) - no restrictions on Vic entries and then we have the Bombers after the bye, can take that to the yoGabbaGabba, Sydney, or take it to Alice if the Pies don't want to. Then we have the Giants loction TBC and Suns @ Metricon. Month on the road. 3 MCG games moved, maybe. Probably want to try and get the Bombers at the G with some crowds but they have the gate so happy to shift that to Alice! Anyway, we're not paid to solve the AFL's problems, give us a call to arrange Dill!
  15. I made a mistake about the gate - move on - thanks though for highlighting the AFL is able to compensate lost marquee game gates by adjusting next year. We can have next year's instead. People here are making themselves look silly on Covid. Equating a simple scheduling error from 2020 with some of the comments on Covid is inapt. Cool cool cool is a quote from Brooklyn 99. I feel very sad that you have not availed yourself of this comic masterpiece and all the cultural memes it has birthed - nodoubtnodoubtnodoubt.
  16. Cool cool cool - whichever way around it was. The fixture shows it as our home game this year, implying them next year = our lost gate this year and they get it next year. I think there is space to negotiate with the Pies on getting to Alice and splitting it. The Age Real Footy Podcast made a good point - firstly they thought it was 400k, not 700k and Caroline Wilson made the good point that the MFC ought not worry about this - keep the premiership in mind (this means getting a top 2 IMV) and then letting everything that flows from that benefit the bottom line next year. Big games with big gates, blockbuster TV slots, memberships.
  17. That's a good point - you don't want to set a precedent and let (powerful) clubs (especially) hold the fixture over a barrel. I'd then favour requesting a near Vic fixture swap - Collingwood seems the best candidate. Negotiate with Collingwood - split the 700k with them then split the gate for QBW with them next year?
  18. I agree, short back and sides or a 1950s Madman hair do. Definitely not a Don Mattingly sideburns job though.

This is a good point, the AFL would need to drop our play twice clubs - and I'd tell them we want to switch Port, Collingwood, Ess or Eagles to Alice. Given we don't have vaccine supply issues now (RACF appears to be an issue of incompetence) and given Vic has thrown open mass open vax to under 50s for Pfizer, every AFL player and support staff etc should now be getting Pfizer. Derisks things quite a bit.

I'd be surprised if NSW Health recommend a border closure (unless things spiral out of control in Vic). As Gladys said, we don't need a border lockdown when Vic is locked down.
  21. Some thoughts. Being a good corporate citizen whilst minding the bottom line and protecting our chances of top 2 (this should be the #1 goal as it begets so much advantage next year - gate takings, membership, blockbuster TV FTA) and conditioning players to play in front of big (and potentially hostile crowds). 1. Offer to take (subject to QLD Health) the Lions game to Gabba on the proviso we get the gate AND the AFL read the umpires the riot act. One was not amused by the malarkey in Adelaide. 2. And/OR (independent of above) Offer to take the Pies game (subject to NT Health) to Alice (quarantine in Noosa/etc post Gabba, go there now) and split the 700k with Collingwood If and only If (IFF) 3. We get QBW as a home game next year (or split the gate with Collingwood) OR Anzac Eve (again) as compo for the loss of QBW 21 gate. Or another similar blockbuster as home ground - Cats, Tigers, Bombers, Pies, Dogs and no ridiculous heading to GMHBA in 2021. Sick of that thanks. Collingwood lost last years QBW gate - so we need to be fair minded here. Everyone (Vic clubs in particular) is in a similar situation except Eagles and the Adelaide and QLD clubs. They need to be fair minded also. Otherwise, request another switch to Alice - perhaps the Port or Weagles or Geelong (!) games. These somewhat de-risk the home ground advantage they get but they will want compo for losing the home ground advantage and gate.
  22. Oh yes I can imagine how Dill took that ultimatum insert ace Ventura well alrighty then gif
  23. If the Dees Lions’ roles were reversed old mate Jonathan Brown would be schtum on the Lions acting in the interests of rhe game what a load of malarkey
