  1. Expecting to win well. At some point we drop a few games during the season. Still when look at quality across ground Backs - May Lever Petty Brayshaw Bowey Mids - Max Trac Clarry Langdon Forwards - Fritsch Brown Running power - ANB Kossie Spargo Sparrow Hunt Add system and we look very hard to beat! Go Demons!
  2. Wholeheartedly agree with majority of sentiments expressed. Great speech by Pert, with underlying message sacrifice and one in all in for success. But my favourite was Goody at the end: - “We’re only getting started boys” Denasty - hear we come!! Go Demons!!
  3. Back on topic - changes vs Saints: - fingers crossed we’re Covid good Petty - Smith Jackson - Weid or TMac ANB - Melksham Pickett - Bedford Sparrow - Dunstan (stiff) But who knows how everyone pulls up post Covid and if we lose any others!
  4. We have 6-7 premiership players out and look what’s left. Our high end talent is just fantastic, as 50 year plus Demon supporter it’s great to be alive!!
  5. Note 1 Salem in brackets Gus 😃
  6. Smith has improved, but agree that he seems to give away a couple each week. Still FD picked him ahead of Tomlinson this week, so he must do something right in their view. Personally I go: Talls - 1 May - 2 Lever - 3 Petty (improving very fast, will be long term #1 defensive pillar) - 4 Tomlinson (still recovering from acl) - 5 Smith Smalls - 1 Salem (Gus covering short term will move back to wing) - 2 Bowey (looks like a 200 gamer) - 3 Hunt ( has the speed and can lockdown on the likes of Cameron) - 4 Rivers (. Hasn’t looked 100%) - 5 Hibberd (will continue to be a good backup) - 6 Smith (quick can play on speedier players) As stated by many Smith is an athlete and improving player, but not a natural footballer and occasionally gets lost, leading to 1-2 goals a week that wouldn’t happen with the other defenders named. Still you look at quality we have to select from and that’s why we have best backline bar none. Freo may have let through a few less points, but our backline has missed top players throughout the season and not missed a beat!
  7. Deedubs = Dr D only happy when complaining and we have lots to complain about: 7-0 reigning premier win after Covid challenged week there are 17 other teams who would change places with Demons enjoy the ride fellow Demons!!!!!!!!!
  8. Will be much tougher game with five out, but when you bring in two a graders in lever & Viney, plus TMac, Melksham and Bedford our team still has an elite backline and midfield. forward run impacted but TMac and Melksham make the forward line different, hopefully Melksham can slot a few and keep up tackle pressure!! Weid possibly 2nd ruck which should help him get more involved. Still expecting a victory just slightly more challenging!
  9. Your spot on with your views. Reasonable kicking for goal of 15-16 and we win by 50 points! Demons controlled the game aside from 5-10 mins at start and 5-10 mins before half time. Agree Petty looks terrific, great pair of hands, tough and reads the play so well. Will takeover from May in a few years when May slows down. Aside from Robbie who was a magician in crap teams, we are just so spoiled at the moment with not just Oliver, but Trac, and Max all terrific players. Barring injury all will pick up half a dozen AAs. To have the three in one team is pure joy!!
  10. Would just love to see Demons go wild from the 1st qtr and slaughter the Tigers! However willing to accept any win, after years in the wilderness. The 3rd quarter last week highlighted our top end capability and would be brilliant to see it on display a little more often pre the finals! Who better to wallop than the Tiggers!!
  11. Umpiring is obviously exceptionally difficult, you see half the vision, have to make snap decisions and have the crowd noise in the background calling for a free for their own team! The rules seem very technical and interpretation changes from season to season, week to week. Three things I would do are: 1. Swearing at umpire decision 50m otherwise nothing re head nods arms flapping. 2. Staging, each game reviewed for staging and players fined $5k or $10k, would stop them pretty quickly. That Hawkins wasn’t fined was a disgrace, gives him approval to stage as much as he likes. 3. Go back to one umpire, plenty of frees would be missed, but at least remove inconsistency of Interpretation between umpires. Only need 9 umpires instead of 27, hopefully we have 9 good ones!
  12. We need a vote from all Demonlanders on whether we should auction or go to private sale for the Weridee Mansion! Proceeds to Demonland to spend on new servers, then acquire a venue for Demonland social club, that can be loaned to MFC! TMac obviously picked to play Pickett fast running elusive forward flank role, can just see him zipping in and under picking up all Weids crumbs, and kicking 8!
  13. Stevie & ump 34 were both poor! A few changes I would like to see from AFL on totally different topics: - change 50m distance to 30m as penalty - umpires be consistent re talking back on frees, at moment it’s a joke - allow fans to turn up to ground and get ticket, sit with as many mates as you like, vs …. Ticketek which is a pain in the ring! (I particularly feel bad for older people who struggle with technology)
  14. Enjoying watching all the goals, but noticed: Weid kicks one, solid assist in another, dropped three marks he should take. TMac kicks one, directly assists two. Generally TMac does more heavy lifting than Weid! Leaning towards TMac re structure and impact, but wouldn’t might seeing Weid have a crack at CHF! Both are well behind BBB!
  15. Watching on replay, was a shocker! 2nd qtr Coniglio free and fifty, and Hogan free where Petty punches ball only we’re very ordinary. Still ignore the umpires! Demons were electric in the third, just so fast and connected, the ball movement is fantastic. After just over 50 years of significant misery, this team is playing terrific football!
  16. Without Martin they wouldn’t have made finals in 2017! GWS year they win, still amazing the Pies lost Pf to GWS in 2019! No Dusty cats win 2020 flag!
  17. I’m one of those away this weekend, who would have been at the G! The only thing worse than crap 50 metre penalties is the bloody ticketing process. Rock up and walk in is how it should be!!
  18. Smith has the following to me: Pros: - can play tall or small - very athletic - quick for his size Cons: - lacking in football nous and gets caught out of position, he hasn’t played a lot of football but you can see he is improving. Compare him to Bowey at 10 games! - gets injured too often, unfortunately He is definitely rated by FD and provides flexibility off bench or as 23 man. I look back at Lions game in finals and Charlie C pantsed him, but Cameron is a very good player, Smith seemed out of position on a few of the goals. Im okay if he is in the team, but prefer May, Lever, Petty & Tomlinson as talls, and Salem, Bowey, Rivers, Hibberd, Hunt as smalls!
  19. Petty combined perfectly with Lever & May as last season went on, particularly the finals. Tomo still very good, just seems to be moving a little slower off the back off his knee surgery/recovery!
  20. Agree, frustrating to watch Max dominate hitouts but clearance figures don’t match. Max marking and movement around ground terrific, but I feel Ryder & Naitanui both better tapping to teams advantage. I feel his tap work was better 4-5 years back when he had a great connection with Viney & at times Brayshaw.
  21. Spot on. After a lot of ordinary years, enjoying every win is the way to go. And for fun mercilessly picking on Tigers/Hawks/Bombers/Pies/Blues/Cats fans is great after putting up with their arrogance too many times over the last 50 years! Last years prelim final was gold! Also keep fingers crossed on the injury front! Go Demons!
  22. Thanks for your insights and commitment, adds an extra layer to my enjoyment on Demonland and in following the Demons! Congrats to you, George and Andy on the podcasts, always informative.
  23. Agree, no Toby Greene, no training loads, and no Mummy who definitely made Giants walk taller! Be interesting to see Pruess against Max, followed by Jackson! Expecting a solid 5 goal win - even though would love to see a big win, but hard to argue with Demon game philosophy after last years ultimate success! Go Demons!
  24. I like seeing someone dominate in the VFL as the there is a big difference between it and the AFL. ANB dominated at VFL level but took another 3 years to be comfortable at AFL level. Or a point of difference re skill, intensity, vision, running power, or just knack of getting the ball. Bowey as stated above kicking skills, etc. Brown is in a different category, already proven at AFL over many years, just has to show his fitness!
