  1. Yeah its called make money. Quite simple really.
  2. I disagree with this statement. The AFL will do everything in its powers to stabilise all clubs. However, with one big proviso- they wont do it forever, they are running a business not a charity. Once the AFL has bedded down, signed agreements with the club that wins the 3rd Melbourne Stadium then it will move onto team rationalisation. On-field success and past history will stand for nothing - bottomline dollars & cents will be the determining factor if you survive or go. This fixture clearly put the ball in the court of members and supporters, the AFL tenure and Jacksons tenure with the MFC is coming to an end. Fun times ahead
  3. Well said. We have a game driven by business acumen and money - the AFL have a supporter base driven by emotion. Long may it continue.
  4. I never know whether to laugh, cry or cringe when I see MFC supporters take on and openly get stuck into the AFL - you would think we had just won a premiership. Smart man once said never bite the hand that feeds you.
  5. Your naivety is quite funny - you need to take your rose coloured glasses off. MFC would not exist today if it were not for AFL support. "Recommended" - yeah right. You clearly dont understand how the AFL work. Just for the record they also "recommended" our board. "We did receive a one-off grant of 1.4 million dollars" - With no strings attached ??? cough, cough. Get real Macca you read the annual reports - they are a lovely set of numbers now we have an AFL appointed CEO and an AFL approved board. Long may it continue.
  6. I'm going for the old conspiracy theory - this year will be Jacksons last - so the AFL is prepared to test the water and see if we are capable of standing on our own two feet. If we smash memberships and crowd numbers this year they will allow us to elect our own CEO and board. If we return poor membership numbers and crowds AFL will install another nominated professional football administrator ( AKA PJ mark 2 ) and no vote for the members in the composition of the board. Fun times ahead.
  7. I dont disagree with you ... but the AFL on the other hand ... its clear the AFL and the TV stations dont rate or trust us to deliver the crowds and the atmosphere that suits their agenda accept against some teams ie Richmond & Collingwood - who just happen to be the biggest drawing clubs anyway. Again, I 100% agree we have a certain resilience factor from a membership point of view.
  8. Not sure the AFL agree with you on that they have kicked us in the guts - Its up to the MFC members and supporters now, ball is firmly in our court. However, only time will tell if the AFL was right or wrong.
  9. Good luck with this point of view on the internet and social media.
  10. From a football perspective this is a very tough draw. However, if we make the finals with a draw like this we can win the whole f' lot - premiership and all.
  11. Again I'm with you all the way ... but think you are talking to the wrong audience. Try selling this proposal to PJ, the AFL and 17 other clubs. What guaranteed alternatives do you have for replacing revenues after you remove the compromised fixture? Its easy to say the system is not fair/ not equal but you also must detail the alternatives.
  12. As a Demon I agree with your sentiments. Good luck with getting it changed - go for it I will support you 100%.
  13. You would need to have a chat to PJ about that - he would not agree with you. Very egalitarian concept but very costly in financial terms you would need to convince PJ you could derive large amounts of income from elsewhere - good luck with that.
  14. Money makes the world go round in AFL today. Without it you have no chance, with it you are at least in with a fighting chance.
  15. 100% agree & I would go as far to say their hearts are in the right place.
  16. The MCG may not - but the MCC offer us considerable assistance. I'm a bit more positive about the future, club is working hard to re-invent its brand and appeal to a different positive supporter base - which with a few well timed wins. can propel us into the league of teams like Hawks, Richmond, Collingwood. The past is behind us, with massive AFL assistance we steadied the ship and in the very near future we will have to stand on our own two feet.
  17. Good points - but if you as a community criticise people enough they stop listening. Just a thought - if you praise people enough, you will get what you want when you want it.
  18. No problems Gatis - I find your delusional comments as quite ironic. However, your heart is in the right place just your brain is all over the shop. The past cannot be altered, move on sunshine - we have a very bright future.
  19. Absolute rubbish Easier said than done. AFL football is a very competitive sport - you have 1 winner and 17 losers every year.
  20. I dont think that 20K break even is correct, plus you are not taking into account MCC subsides via rent assistance and straight our donations. Geelong get massive help from the local, State & Federal Governments as do Richmond they have had massive assistance from State & Federal governments. AFL also massively assisted us via crowd redistribution/equalisation funds. The bottom line in AFL football is you earn your own draw, our supporters control the financial success of our team in their own hands - on this front we have had an appalling record for decades now due to poor onfield performance. Start winning and all our problems will go away - a drovers dog could run an AFL team if its winning premierships. Alternatively, the best minds in the world cant run an AFL team if it does not have the money to generate on-field success.
  21. What ? Many supporters? Misled ? By whom? What is really happening? Rightfully even more upset? C'mon lets get real - the club could have not been more transparent if it tried. The big problem with many supporters is they draw 100% of their information from social media which includes forums or AFL media - then they form a opinion. So bulldust information in - bulldust opinions out.
  22. Source ? Break even amount at MCG? What other incentives do MCC trust provide us?
  23. Psychologists & Psychiatrist services - we would make a killing out of Demonland alone.
  24. I have one for you this kid seems very level headed, good size and looks to have good footy smarts, good winner of the ball - thomas north eastern ranges
  25. More like Richmond are upgrading Punt Rd into a Boutique Stadium and we will become their tenant.
