Safe solid approach - safe and solid dont win premierships. Tigers dont have the money for Stringer - but it appears neither do we. Tigers have never been scared to take a risk.
-
Think reality is many at the MFC would take the risk, back themselves - if you dont take risks in AFL football you end up with a team of alter boys - we are getting rid of the alter boys. However, more relevant is Stringer wants to be elsewhere think they have a better deal on the table.

$100, $50 & $20 ??? Nothing to do with the discussion. You are wrongly assuming the higher the draft pick the more its worth - that is a failed way to think. Where you are correct is $100 is more valuable when it comes to player development. If I was targeting Macrae and he committed 100% to us - I would get the deal done over holding onto speculative picks - within reason. Anyway its all a moot point - your side of the argument in AFL clubland lost long, long ago. You trade to win premierships, you get the deals done The only place your argument get a say is in AFL fansite forums.

What is Bigfooty?

High draft picks are massively overvalued vs return in football terms - you are thinking in a different era. However, they are a good boost for a club trying to sell hope and hence memberships. Strong draft? Yeah right you wont know that for 5-7 years, its much more important to have a strong club than take pot luck in a strong draft.

Most supporters of a club would. I'm happy with the player having the rights to play where and for whom they want to play for. Then you can execute your strategies with confidence if you look after your players and treat them with respect.
-
Contract or no contract you cant send them where they dont want to go. Put yourself in their shoes for one second - now think about what you just said.
-
Because some clubs put mate-ship and manipulation ahead of honest and fairness. Remove the picks removes the problem.
-
There is no doubt Stringer is a mercurial talent, but its clear he prefers at this stage to want to be elsewhere. Cant see how he gets to the Bombers his 2nd preference - think the Bombers shafted him to get Smith. Think they (Bombers) told him one thing then proceeded to do another. Does he go back to option 1 on lesser dollars or have they also moved on. Could be a very interesting last week.
-
With all due respect I hope the club never factors supporters opinions on who we trade in or out - those days are ironically long gone. Supporters are just not generally professtional qualified to make FD decisions
-
Could he not play as a potential ruckman/forward and offer Big Maxy a chop out in the ruck?
-
I've went for a tad different line-up and only listed what I think are best 22, plus Ive went for the smaller forward/backline combinations B: Jetta xxxxx Hibberd HB: Salem Lever Hunt C: Brayshaw Oliver Petracca HF: Melksham TMac Hannan F: Garlett Hogan xxxxx Fol: Gawn Jones Viney Int: Lewis, Maynard, xxxx, xxxx

The camp I'm now in is - "I cant believe how divided this football club is and how little trust we have in the people employed to run our club."
-
Not sure I went that far - I've always wished the boy well, refused to listen to the internet rumours just like Essendon & Geelong have, thought it was going to be very difficult to land him. However, we are up to our eye balls in this trade because its very important to us.
-
Cheers. The Stringer trade is very important to us - now you can read into that what you want.
-
Not all trades will be super stars, you need your role players. So the answer to your question - yes I'm always interested in premiership players. Richmond have been absolute bandits with their trades since Blair Hartley took over the role.
-
You have nailed it - finally, some are starting to get it. There are three things that will win you a premiership - trades, trades and trades. ,
-
And yes you owe the site a donation - say $100
-
You are obvioulsy new around here your positive approach is refreshing - please never lose that.
-
This is a good fair deal for us, meets all our strategic needs as of today.
-
Think you owe the site a donation - we are well under the 2100 points margin.
-
Next year will never arrive for many MFC supporters - they dont have the patience. Strategy was always to bring forward a pick into this years equation.

This thread has become unreadable. The thread is embarrassing irrespective if Jack stays or goes.

I think this article is on the money or very close to it. As I said earlier Lions were always going to be our partners to getting the deal over the line.
