Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I could see that happening they need a bull midfielder and Trac would extend his cooking channel viewers.

Time to go Goody?
I still believe we can achieve something with this group if Goodwin and the footy department are clean out at seasons end. If fresh eyes come in new coach, new assistants, new footy boss, trade out one of Oliver or Trac + Lever to a North Melbourne we can generate some draft capital and revitalise the playing list. We don't need a wholesale rebuild we have the up and coming talents plus some prospects at Casey who aren't getting opportunities under Goodwin. Plus a decent trade period bring in 21-23 y.o players like Derksen, Perkins, raid some more BWS players we can turn it around like the pies did. This has to be the thinking of the board now too much has gone on, its time to cut the cord give him a grand send off and we start next season fresh with fresh eyes and ears.

After the Great Choke
Nightmate thought. Lyon said at 3/4 these blokes are ready to crack, they are not fit This is what was said and the whole competition knows it. This is what hurts standards have dropped big time.

Time to go Goody?
I'm sure it will, you cant hide what happened yesterday. It was like it was a directive to not apply any pressure or play with energy to finish them off properly. It looked and felt like we tanked in the last. Very sad times.

Time to go Goody?
Have read or do you have access to Facebook or other Demon sites the fallout and commentary has been absolutely brutal. This is the most angry reaction I have ever seen from Demon supporters.

This has happened a few times with coaches that they are desperate to keep their jobs that they are placed on a staff based contract to rule out the a big payout if it all goes south. There is precedence of this happening with the Crows and Neil Craig. 2 seasons into this new arrangement he was under pressure to deliver and never did and left mid season with no pay out resulting. Pretty sure it was after a 100 point belting from the Dees also. The link between Longmuir and Craig's as coaches is that up until their last contracts they had never won a premiership and had no leverage or skin In the game to place demands on what they want. Simon would never have accepted a staff based contract after he led the club to the promise land, he would have picked up and coached elsewhere.

Can you see much changing if we don't make change? I've never seen a more angrier Demon supporter group than tonight on every level. We are going to bleed money next year in terms of memberships, potential sponsors, financial backing from wealthy supporters from this latest debarcle.

Time to start a rebuild?
I think if we had started the rebuild last year the club would have been destroyed by the chaos and mayhem surrounding it. The club this time around have no choice in the matter now. All avenues regarding trading to our club and out of our club must exist at the end of this season. But a new set of eyes (coach) must be cast on this list, Goody is too close with all the players now and what has transpired in the off-season with all this player empowerment sh yte must ceast to exist. Lamb, Richardson, Griffiths all assistants must all leave the building at seasons end.

Yes 💯 his injury prevention management of the players has been world class as for our overall fitness its been diabolical. From an endurance and speed standpoint we have been lacklustre and we either fade late or start games sluggishly. New Fitness boss extremely high on the list of changes for the club.

Time to go Goody?
We've got a new CEO and President that haven't even lobbed up to the job yet! How can you form a ticket?

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Surely the club will know it's going to lose more money in memberships and sponsorships than the $1m that will be paid to Goody and roughly another $1m to assistants, Richo etc.

Where is Darren Shand in all of this???? What ever he did in the off season has been a complete Mind/skull 💀 f uk on the whole entire staff/playing group. The Melbourne Football Club, also known as the Demons, recently engaged former All Blacks manager, Darren Shand, to conduct a review of their football department. This review came in response to concerns about the club's culture and the performance of certain players like Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver, and Joel Smith, as well as the departures of CEO Gary Pert and president Kate Roffey. Shand's perspective, formed after the review, suggests that the club's issues are not as dire as perceived by the outside world and are "very solvable". Here's a more detailed breakdown: The Review: The Melbourne Football Club sought an external review of their football department, aiming to address concerns about the club's culture and player performance. Darren Shand's Role: Shand, a former All Blacks manager, was brought in to conduct this review. His experience with building a strong culture within the New Zealand national rugby union team made him a suitable choice. Shand's Findings: Shand's assessment differed from the prevailing narrative, which painted a picture of a club on the verge of collapse. He found that while there were some issues, they were isolated and solvable. He emphasized the positive aspects of the club's culture and leadership under coach Simon Goodwin. Focus on Solvability: Shand highlighted the importance of addressing the specific issues rather than allowing them to be magnified by the outside perception. He stressed the collaborative effort between players, coaches, the CEO, and the board in tackling these challenges.

Did Simon do a press conference? What could you possibly say after that?

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
I feel exactly the same way. I shake my head now in disbelief how badly our club have fu kd that period of dominance 21-23 and beyond up.

Said it for a while now he is an absolute fraudster! The last 2 years from an overall fitness point of view have been pathetic on his behalf.

I am taking my membership of auto renewal, I will then decide if the $600 donation to the club is worth it. I don’t see any games in Melbourne so I'm paying to prop this garbage up, until I see signs of change from the incoming leadership change i will be membership free.

Trade Targets
No one ever knows 100 percent @Demonstone but I hear things through a contact at New Balance who has decent intel and those names never came up.
-
Trade Targets
Understand your point @Demonstone, but the footy dept didn't exactly target hard for players with noted footy skills e.g M Kennedy, De Ambrosio, Amon, P. Voss etc. All these players from teams that weren't even considered by the our club which is alarming and left a huge gap in our playing stocks. The players you mentioned aren't noted for their foot skills or have a particular part of their game that is strong. This is even more prevelent and relevant in today's game to kick through defensive zones and create better field position. You can only develop and improve certain parts of a players game first and foremost. The players we have traded for from 22 to 24 have ended up being nothing more than stop gaps. This is where we are now from poor, lazy trading. 13th on the ladder.
-
Trade Targets
These are the sought of risks we need to take now and back our development in. Established name players just don't want to come to our club.
-
Time to start a rebuild?
That's why we are angry @Dr. Gonzo We traded like dog ch it after our flag triumph for the 22 season then followed it up in 23 and 24. We spoke to the wrong players during this period why not have a convo with some great players by foot, De Ambrosio, peatling, Amon etc. Its not all doom and gloom as we have some talented youngsters to work with, but some one has to unfortunately leave the building.

This isn't doing Goody any favours.

May to Tribunal
Reasonable players are players who sherk the contest. Bruise-free footballer is another name for a reasonable player. Whimps/reasonable players get out of the way of a contest and Steven May ain't no whimp! End of story! In the words of the great Neale Daniher "play on."
-
May to Tribunal
The club grew some balls TFFT. Probably to protect Steven May's legacy, because this is how he would be remembered if he got or gets 3 weeks for this incident.
