  1. Our midfielders could do much better if they were capable of better acceptance of responsibilities. They need to: *read and attack the fall of the ball, no matter which ruck wins the tap-down or if the melee squirts down on the ball *learn how to reciprocally spread in an instant to receive chain handballs/taps accordingly in 360-degrees *draw up at least one halfback defender to cover surprises of ball entry into the opposition forward zone whilst our midfielders challenge opposition ball carriers (if that be the case) *learn to keep eyes down for forward line progress should these players learn to spread and lead out providing positive options *go harder at each engagement with the game, pace, aggression, power, recovery, making space, 2nd & 3rd attempts.
  2. Could not agree more! I still think we have a better current (and incoming from Casey) list than the Hawks but the work done by their coaching team and play advisors is far superior to that of the MFC. New boss at the top is very pleasing and I hope his influence is heeded down the line to the height of the cut grass.
  3. For me, I shudder at the term 'brain fade/s' when it comes to Frosty. His enthusiasm for the game was unbridled and that worked wonders with 'hope springs eternal' - even when a catastrophic outcome presented. For me, he was more entertaining that Jacko (Mark) due to his sheer exuberance. Someone must be thinking that he has improved as a footballer and has considered re-enlisting the Mighty Frost to the Manor, I guess. It just makes me smile thinking of his fearless game.
  4. Football aside, Frosty was greatly appreciated, no - actually loved - and a very fast runner, powerful tackler with a mind of his own to enhance the team; not too many other players caught the bug he offered, but he had wonderful ears to listen to their points of view. He'd be a killer player down at Casey; highly enthusiastic about new styles of the game we sometimes get a little bored with and thus, a light on the horizon of hopes and prayers for Mr Unstoppable.
  5. Remembering, of course, that Max - in several moments of Club stress - has propelled all before them, ridden the journey and provided the examples, then took them all to somewhere they needed to be and still persists to the benefits of 'everyone MFC'.
  6. It is all a sign (signs) of leadership, at multiple levels and responsibilities, culminating in multiple oversights and continuing poor decisions and influences. External reviews are the key to identifying and ameliorating such issues; it is commendable that at least, DL contributors have recognised key issues and put forward multiple suggestions that perhaps nail solutions and immediate options. Change is imperative. Go Dees.
  7. Actually spot on.
  8. Max is just the best ... for so long in a footballing career. He's our own big brother worthy of a knighthood.
  9. Let us hope that is the case.
  10. Melk has shown recoveries and commitments onfield that we need. I certainly hope that his body stands up to the rigours that he has faced and enables another round; his sharp wits - whatever build-up we have in the forward line - is very, very useful in both assists to others and in his individual abilities.
  11. By reducing the unwarranted penalty on Kozzie, it reinforces the arrogance and bias of those so appointed to determine penalties in play against their favoured brethren onfield. This level of decision-making has gone on too far, too often, too obviously across recent years, much to the disadvantage and now, the consistency of contested football for those teams just outside the revenue-attracting influences of a mere handful of a few anointed teams with greater, silent influence.
  12. Proof is now in the pudding. PF, your foresight of the recent past summarises the season that, for us, is now over.
  13. Agree. But if a dual offence were to be established - even though it really appears that Kozzie was innocently playing the ball - you could bet your last sixpence that Moore (as a Filth player and thus above the law) would be exonerated whilst Kozzie, an intense small player whose speed and agility are strikingly superior, would be most harshly treated of the two, particularly if an ex-Filth operative was to bear judgment on the limited contact so ascertained.
  14. It is difficult to determine whether or not it was " Kozzie's contact " because of the correcting and deliberate movement of Moore's attempt to get lower and lower, lining up for a head contact (incomplete) in order to assure himself a free kick/find a staged head contact rather than lose the incomplete and deteriorating possession attempt of the ball. It's all a construct of bull****!
  15. I'd reckon that it would take about five years; there is much to be settled and put into place. Our retirees will occur soon, and these players have done us proud but must be replaced. Similarly, recruitment needs great focus and a steady year by year development, with a good, across-the-field bank of talented replacements. Player development, exposure and great coaching procedures will be critical to filling the gaps we have experienced so recently. Coaching talent and depth, game styles, alternative strategies need to be established and put into place and given very high priority as part of the product of recruitment and game-day execution. We must strive for onfield mastery, nothing less. We also need that identifiable 'home' as part of the re-build to come.
  16. It was a Collingwood player ducking his head down low to the shortest 'legitimate' tackler onfield ... hence, a life ban will be applied plus many diatribes of condemnation - particularly in the media via the AFL.
  17. Time to take the gentleman's game more seriously - the Dees let us down again - so it's Shield and Test cricket for the next 6 months ... total refreshment! That should give those who represent us at the Club sufficient time to make amends, turning abject failures into tangible ownership of rallied hopes. '24 was an absolute disappointment, footy-wise.
  18. We're all in the same boat. There we are, drowning in the consequences of the season set-up from the AFL cabinet yet remain unheard, damaged and abused whilst the tide turns us way out to sea. The greatest turn-around of the last decade is before us with only months of engineering ahead in order to prevent the impending capsize; pass me a lifejacket, please, and a compass that works.
  19. On the injury front, I wonder which Demon player(s) the Filth have in mind to maim, cripple, damage in this 'dead rubber' of a game, as it is their last opportunity for 2024 to so afflict their greatest rival.
  20. No doubt about that ... phenomenal kick, tough as nails and great hands. Always thought he got the rough end of the pineapple at the advent of A. Jakovich. The two of them, onfield together, could have re-written the footy text book for forward play.
  21. Almost worthy of never reading anything more on any topic from these clowns - the power of the pen has gone to their heads, too far, too randomly, too inaccurately. Big opinions, small brains, lesser communication skills. Name one who varies from this assessment. Lyon, Gawn obviously excluded.
  22. That space creation attacked with purpose was invigoratingly revelational.
  23. I had similar thoughts about Marty Hore. HBF is a unique spot to play - he has put in some good performances over time in that spot. Consistency will be the key, I guess.
  24. Self-reflecting on the game he played, the things he did, the space he made, the attack on the ball that he engineered, Disco has much to be proud of, building confidence and initial knowledge of just what a good forward he actually is proving to be. Well done, lad.
