  1. I still think that the Wagners can further develop given further opportunity - moreso than some whose opportunity opportunities have yielded very little in a developmental sense. The Wagners are mobile, for starters, and at different times in different ways, get the pill and use it fairly well, fairly consistently. I'd expect that their stuff-ups will wane somewhat as their own processes onfield automate.
  2. In one way or the other, we have all said this about Clarrie's kicking all season and last season. If he continues like this, he will find himself at another level (upwards) and add a whole new dimension to the effectiveness of the midfield - just by influence, alone. Wonderful to see.
  3. Preuss is starting to ruck quite well; he beats most opponents and is amassing some impressive statistics, and the crumbers are responding well to his style. Gawn can be a forward as it appears that the Weed may be overwhelmed as a solitary tall forward, with Preuss rotating ruck-forward with Gawn across the game. Moments like these make me yearn for a fit JSmith, must admit, to shore up contests across the 50m arc and under.
  4. Conundrums of the situation actually do abound.
  5. Agree with the relativity of comparisons you make, Watts - but we must be aware of the sentiments as you suggest. Blind faith will drive some as a form of Club loyalty to be displayed; the balance is whether or not such displays are contraindicative of reality that, over time, is wearing thin on many. At the end of the day, we all have faith, expressed in varied outcomes. I'd slip the Weed to the Filth, myself, in a transfer arrangement that would provide us with a surplus to the transaction (such as Marty Hore). Grab a reliable forward elsewhere with the change.
  6. Talent only gets you so far. Attitude and hard work are needed at AFL level. As well as rehearsed and refined skills. One might make the expectation of accuracy and assured, unhindered goal kicking part of a deep forward's repertoire. He is obviously not doing enough practice or alternatively, the wrong practice deficient of advice and expert mentoring. Goal-kicking is a form of assured reliability for one so nurtured.
  7. Except for Viney's panic attacks and dumb decisions in the last 15 minutes - nearly sewed the game Carlscum's way.
  8. Then again, Goody as the ultra conservative might have hated Preuss' game today - it adds another confusing dimension to the team and its performance, and he has tried so hard this year (Goodwin) to keep such influences out of the team as a measure of his own success and judgement. Preuss actually smashed Kreuzer.
  9. Neither of these two umps will get finals berths this year it was so bad - Parkin
  10. Still gob-smacked with his talent as a footballer. He loved the Dees, but a calling-card back home was understandable as a career sunset. We all wished him well. He has stated on several occasions that if 'his boys' are good enough, they are Melbourne-bound if he has anything to do with it.
  11. Spargo is hearing footsteps, I reckon. Fritsch takes the whack 'cause he is played out of position (he's a forward flanker). Petty is still catching on to some big time action opportunities. None of the three read the game plan well; it appears that these players are often confused.
  12. Cannot remember one that was a good day, for him.
  13. This has been a scrawny year for the Website. Dull, lifeless, deficient in explanations,.
  14. Nope - not a positive year of football so far and there are limited sliver linings to follow, I'm afraid. Designed to elicit responses that they wish to hear.
  15. Proof of another week in the raffle of non-intent. Very worried, once again, about selections and forced recoveries, pace and contributions so far.
  16. Sorry, it got caught up in an overlapped post with other contributors; that is where I found the blurb that I wished to comment upon. It went up like lightning - surprised me, too. Apologies, again.
  17. Can remember it well - too well. The thought of it makes me shudder after the efforts we put in to get him, then wait for him, then see him almost easily penetrable in our zone of need. I presumed everyone else on DL could remember it as well. I hinted that it was a part of the 'hypocrasy' of the summative comments he made to Frosty in that game. I will leave it at that point, Macca. Squeaky clean in play observations will have to wait ...
  18. Any half-witted opposition midfielder would know that Max is going to win the tap and two of them makes a normal brain - so they rove to Maxy themselves - and our blokes allow this to happen around 50% of the time. When ours win possession, they bomb to take the heat off themselves - the effectiveness of the clearance is irrelevant to them. It would be friggin' stupid to play Max.
  19. Rest Gawn. There is no miracle cure or treatment for that amount of ankle-turn. So what if the swelling goes down? The ligaments and tendons have been weakened and will continue to require RICE before further stresses.
  20. So that's three of us?
  21. I really appreciate Frosty's game and efforts - and signs of further positive development and values for the Club. To receive a few words of tactful, concerned advice is just one stepping stone of many for his ongoing and unique footballing qualities. I commend young Frosty for reminding the font of absolute information so provided that onfield, mid-game, and in the 'huddle' of footballing expertise and concern is not the perfect environment nor an ideal scenario for the public interpretation of important strategic matters. Frosty most probably referred to his preference for a little chat in a more appropriate, mutually agreeable locale after the game - or more privately onfield - and that this might elicit a deeper understanding and less personal shame for such a learner and possibly from such a mentor. I'd also suggest that Frosty might have felt the need to remind his mentor of one's own credibility this season - crossing several areas of season preparation. readiness and team penetration from such an equally unique perspective. Albeit rather hypocritical in the eyes of some observers, May might well have provided instantaneous feedback with good intent from his vast array of experiential calling cards; so now, after the counselling event, Frosty is more able to select that type of defensive punch at the ball that wins games in the spur of the moment. After all, the path towards footballing glory, as Frosty might well concede, is a gauntlet of bumps and curves. Thank you, gentlemen, for providing a moment of laterality in the challenging mindsets of MFC supporters.
  22. Hannan found space, once; Fritta found space by following his man from the backline; result? Two goals. Enough said.
  23. Was hoping otherwise with some strengths returning but you are absolutely correct. So readable ...so inefficient - even when on a roll.
