  1. Firstly, who said those supporters were terrified? It was a stupid thing for Goodes to do with no context of why he did it? A reason he came up with later, which I personally believe he used as an excuse so he didn’t look as much like an idiot, but that’s my belief. He could’ve done it in front of his own supporters and they would’ve loved it. Also, what are your thoughts on another player standing in front of opposition supporters, pointing his hand like a gun at their heads and firing? After all, it’s imaginary? I didn’t particularly like the way Goodes played for frees and sniped on occasion etc, I booed him on occasion if he did it in front of us, am I racist? Because this is where I took offence at the time to commentators and the bleeding hearts of society who claimed that if I ever booed Goodes again I was racist, no ifs and buts. NO, I would’ve booed him again if he dived for a free in front of us or took a cheap shot at one of our players, not because he was Aboriginal. You can’t lump all of it together and claim that everyone who does it is automatically racist or crap morals? I hated the way Lloyd played for frees (great player and goal kicker), I hate the way Selwood plays for frees, actually add the whole Geelong team. I detested the way Lyndsey Thomas played. I’ve booed these players too. Am I racist? Would I do it in the street if I saw them? No, I don’t hate them as people, I hated the way they played the game. There were definitely people who booed Goodes because they were racist, but don’t lump everyone who booed him as racist or questionable morals.
  2. Lever just said on AFL tonight that he’s not playing this week, didn’t come up after training and should be back against Collingwood.
  3. This is where we need a plan b, which we don’t appear to have? We need to learn when to slow the game down, hit targets, BY FOOT, reset and hit another target etc. I’m not as bullish about our lack of leg speed as some, you hit targets by foot consistently and you cover it. I also believe a team looks slower when they turn the ball over constantly, players running in offence then have to stop and change to defence, now 5-10 meters behind their immediate opponent. I also believe if we slow our ball movement down and hit targets, we’d actually move the ball faster, with better delivery to our leading forwards. But I’m not a coach. ?
  4. The best teams have always controlled the ball, even if they played on quickly. Unfortunately for us, we tend to play on quickly and then just bomb it to a 1 on 3 contest. ??‍♂️ When our forwards lead, our mids either refuse to lower their eyes or they fumble the ball and waste the lead. Quite a few of these fumbles are from playing on at all cost, either playing on under pressure and/or giving a crap handball that puts another player under more pressure, then causing them to bomb in hope.
  5. They asked Jack Riewoldt during the last quarter of our game, talking about our poor goal kicking, how many set shots are they “allowed” to take at training, he said 30-40 for the week. ? 30-40 a week? That should be a day, minimum. If Melbourne’s “sport scientists” have our players on a similar program, no wonder our guys aren’t improving their set shots. ?
  6. Campbell Brown on Dunkley By what has been written, I think he’s been playing as a half forward, I know anyone can look good in highlights, but it looked like he at least lowers his eyes and hits leading forwards, unlike the rest of our mid field. Also looks like a better kick for goal then nearly all of our current team? Personally, sight unseen I’d still play him over Spargo or Jeffy from last weeks effort.
  7. I don’t care if the umpires don’t get all the decisions correct, I don’t care if one umpire targets incorrect disposal more then push in the back etc, I care for consistency from that umpire for the full game though, no matter who the player or team is. There are plenty of umpires that I haven’t a clue to their name? Why? Because they tend to be the umpires that are consistent through the whole game. Umpires copping abuse is a given, some supporters yell ball as soon as an opposition player gets it, then they abuse an umpire for no free kick, a free kick that if given against their team in the same situation would earn an umpire the same abuse. ??‍♂️ But I’d actually be interested in knowing if any of these umpires have copped abuse walking down the street during the week? Personally I would think it highly unlikely, even for a high profile umpire like Razor Ray?
  8. Definitely need to get someone down there to fix up Trac’s kicking technique. This is my opinion only, and I’m certainly not a professional ?, but I wonder if he was too good in juniors? Surely no coach taught him to drop the ball from chest high, or to try and snap the ball out of the stadium? They seem like bad habits that crept into his game, possibly because he won so much ball through juniors that he started being flashy and now it creeps into his game? We know he’s excitable, hopefully something he can fix though. ??‍♂️
  9. Do the umpires hate us? Probably not, but I do agree that we tend not to get the rub of the green more often then not. It’s our own fault, Goody doesn’t question the AFL every second week like Clarkson (best coach for a decade) or the Scott brothers. Our mids don’t duck their heads and complain about high contact enough like the Holy Trinity ? Our forwards don’t throw up their arms and exaggerate any contact like Ben Brown. There is definitely umpire bias though, stats prove that West Coast are the most looked after team at home, by a mile. Noise of affirmation? Gutless umpiring? Cheating? Who knows, and I doubt the AFL will admit anything. I missed what David King said on Fox footy after the game, from what I’ve heard off people, he definitely thought Melbourne were hard done by. There is no doubt we would’ve won the game if we kicked straight, we shot ourselves in the foot, but the umpires certainly didn’t help.
  10. Fritters accuracy by foot has dropped off this year too
  11. I said it at the start of last season and I’ll say it again, Jeffy is done. Selfish, lazy and shocking decision making.
  12. Anyone know much about Jeremy Sharp? Winger/halfback that likes to run and carry the ball from the little I’ve read. I don’t think we’ll finish bottom 2-3, all though since our season is over I wouldn’t mind getting No. 1 pick, so Rowell and Anderson will be gone.
  13. Won’t be any worse then Viney in there, his disposal efficiency has been pretty bad. ? Edit: Just googled Viney’s disposal efficiency this year, I stand corrected, it stats he’s going at 71.88%. Surprised the hell out of me, I would’ve put it at around 50%. ?
  14. Weids left knee strapped up, did he have it strapped last game?
  15. I saw that, I assumed that you have to press a button on the side of the headphones to talk and McCarthy had left his turned on and was laughing with Jones while Goody was trying to talk with the coaches upstairs? Nothing malicious in it.
  16. Won’t get a game for us then, he must jump for every contest with our other 3-4 players in the area. No smart crumbers at MFC, thank you very much. ??
  17. Personally I’m not happy with the result, but as long as the AFL is consistent for the whole season, so be it. Be interesting when the first big name player does a similar thing though? If I was MFC I’d be asking for a refund of the $10000 as soon as a player gets off for the same thing. ?
  18. If it was a compound fracture would the doctor try and put the bone back in on the sideline? That’s what he tried, hence I assumed it was a dislocation at first. I did google the following though. What is the Recovery Period for Compound Fractures of the Finger Bones Postsurgery? The recovery period for Compound Fractures of the Finger Bones depends on the complexity of the injury and to what extent has the tissue and bones been damaged. If it is a minor fracture and the injury is mild then the patient may return to normal activities within a span of 6 to 8 weeks. If the finger bone fracture is complex and the injury is deep and complex then the recovery period may take three to four months before the patient can gradually return to full function of the fingers.
  19. How many weeks is a compound fracture?
  20. Hopefully it’s not a broken finger.
  21. Pressure on players returning early is an interesting point, I assume the club doctors wouldn’t take that into account though? Don’t most of the contracts draftees sign though give them a base wage for the year, plus match payments for each game they play? I assume for salary cap calculations the club would have to calculate the base wage and what the player would earn if he played every game though? ?
  22. Surely Nic Nat wouldn’t be getting his full contract though? Unless there’s nothing written into his contract about injuries and amount of games he has to play per year etc?
