WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Goodvibes replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bob, Ian Holloway would be proud. -
But he's new and shiny.

Caddy is the classic 'big bummed' Collingwood midfielder. Talk before last year's draft was that Collingwood were hoping he'd fall to their first pick. Wonder if the Collingwood thinking regarding this style of midfielder will be reflected by the gameplan and approach of Neeld.

Now for the crumbing pacy small forward
Goodvibes replied to Grandson of a gun's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wonder if Neeld likes Dick. Sorry. Seriously, Brad Dick, Collingwood. Out of contract and Toovey has just signed. They've got to move one or two on you'd think. Any fans of his out there? Does he only play 2 good games a year and usually against us? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK
Goodvibes replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
As a resident of Brisvegas I've seen a hell of a lot of Mitch and I was very excited when we were linked to him and now elated that we've got him. He has great hands and despite what some bitter Freo fans are currently saying does have the ability to split packs and create a crumb. I'm still of the view that Watts has the potential to play full forward and will start winning more one on one contests. Mitch can do this but he also has great wheels and I can see us constantly swapping Watts and Clark to create real headaches. Jurrah and Howe as third and fourth options is scary. Find or re-juvinate that crumbing forward to complement the bigger bodies and we're in very good shape up forward. Our key backs and our now even stronger ruck division are turning into genuine strengths. If we can land a highly skilled, tough small defender and an elite inside/outside midfielder with breakaway pace, we're starting to have the look of a premiership team in waiting. Tom who? -
What's your care factor?
-
Yeah you will because there is absolutely no benefit in thinking this way. You're a committed, long term Melbourne supporter and you're not jumping off. The more we focus on our negatives the more we'll be viewed as losers. No-one wants to be associated with losers. We're the club that invented the game, we're debt free, great facilites, talented young list, increasingly large football department, an inspirational president and a fine young coach. The only negative I can see is the 'woe is me' mentality that has gripped so many supporters of late.

I think you're being a little unkind. Well, to the average Bigfooty poster anyway.

Mitch Clark is a significant improvement on Martin. I would still keep Martin because he gives us flexibility and is a player who is on the rise but if it was the difference between getting Clark and missing out, I'd reluctantly say goodbye to Martin. Clark is a great contested mark, has a mature body and was unlucky not to be All Australian two seasons ago.

He's definitely worth our pick 12 in a weak draft. We'd be gutted if we had a key position player, taken as a high pick, who can play in the ruck, has had 6 - 7 years in the system and has his best 5 years ahead of him leave us for anything less than a first rounder in a shallow draft. I'd actually pay more.
-
Which might explain why Dawes is rated so highly. He would have filled a structural need. I'm disappointed we couldn't get him.

It's interesting that you choose a picture of Norm Smith to associate with your username yet you're unwilling to consider that there are still people in footy who are loyal and honourable. Understandably people are a little sensitive after the farcical Scully situation this year but I'm confident Neil Craig should be viewed entirely differently to the growing number of footy people who are driven purely by money and quick fixes. He's a gentleman and viewed with great respect by Adelaide supporters despite the sour end to his time there. Taking Dangerfield away from Adelaide would quickly change this view and his time at Adelaide would be viewed in a very different and a very negative light.
-
I would love to be wrong!
-
Craig is the genuine article. The last thing he'd want to do to the club he has spent 14 years at is destroy his reputation by taking away one of their brightest stars. A Dangerfield, O'Meara, Viney trifecta complementing Trengove, Gysberts, McKenzie, Grimes and Blease sounds wonderful but it's the stuff of pure fantasy.

I was being a tad sarcastic. Gumbleton no doubt has serious talent but if Essendon were willing to let him go then alarm bells would ring for me.
-
We're not that shallow. How about that Youtube highlight package?
-
Thanks Demonland. Thanks for feeding the obsession.
-
I long for the day when Demonland is an absolute ghost town on this particularly footballing day because we'll all have somewhere else to be.

There's talk that Bailey may go to Adelaide.

Might get a few down to Casey next year.

Craig about to be interviewed on 3AW.
-
He could become a tall midfielder with breakaway pace. If we wanted him, I'm not sure we'd have to invest our first round pick. Second or third round possibility apparently.
-
I'd completely forgotten that. That's how quickly I've moved on.

I hope H doesn't read this.
