  1. Clever man that ProDee. Posted 10th September, 2016 without even logging on. Don't get a job as a PI Ethan.
  2. Nor was Jack Watts until this year. Fitzy's history isn't written yet and while I don't think it will be a great one there are many players I've misjudged before they've retired. Fitzy seems like a ripping fella, gave what he could for us in shocking circumstances and is now about to play a final for the team that's won the last three flags. Fair effort I'd say. Good luck Fitzy and I hope you win and are BOG, not because I like the Hawks but I just hate Geelong even more and you're the best thing on either team as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to see both these teams struggle for a few years like most clubs do. Hate them both.
  3. Because he has value and is probably surplus to needs. Nobody dislikes him.
  4. Look Dazzle I don't much like Saty's approach to this stuff but you, as cheerleader for the mafia, seems to take every opportunity to jump on him, and I don't much like you for that either. This endless brainless debate you and others continually have with him is uninformative and boring in the extreme but sadly from time to time you and he have really good things to offer. Why the [censored] can't you and the rest of the mafia just ignore Saty and let the rest of the of the forum get on with the uninformed and speculative debate we usually have at this time of year about trades, drafting and delisting. Of course this post is probably just another fruitless attempt to stop the bickering and "you said I said" crapp that will continue to polute this site. Saty you're probably the only one who can stop it because you are one and they are many. Please help us mate, we're sick of it and it will only hurt those that are genuinely interested in the useful information you offer.
  5. He was very good in all things other than his disposal by foot. He just butchered the ball consistently and often under no pressure. It's a deal breaker.
  6. You are a dill. I'm talking about the Hawks game, dunce.
  7. Great to hear. I like your son.
  8. You won't get anywhere with an approach like that!
  9. Spot on. The crowd was quite big and I had to park a couple of ovals away. The Scorps took the opportunity to make the most of the crowd, $15 for entry but they also saw fit to only have two food outlets open and the queue's were horrendous. Just dumb.
  10. Agree with most of this. I'm surprised Terlich only had 24 because for mine he was terrific and finding the ball but he clearly wants a job in the meat trade when he leaves football. It's not that he makes mistakes under pressure, he just misses players 20 to 30 metres away under little pressure. It's a shame because he was terrific other than that. Weideman was good today. Slow start but ended up taking about 3 contested marks, never looked like missing and got around the ground well and made good decisions. His pass to Scott on his left in the third was all class and whilst I reckon he'll need a lot of time to play AFL footy he'll be great when he gets there because he makes the most of his opportunities. He also needs a couple more preseasons to get a tank. I hope he just dedicates himself to getting fit this preseason. Most promising game I've seen from him today, not that he dominated but that he showed exciting glimpses. Garlo was awful early but played very well towards the end and Kennedy was busy. I feel so much for Grimes. He did some fantastic stuff today and looked a class above but the writing is clearly on the wall. I won't argue with the FD because they will have their reasons but I don't understand his treatment which was detailed in an earlier post. Hardly a mistake today. You can play semantics all you like but we don't want him and whether he gets a gig elsewhere I don't know but it would be hard to believe that Brisbane wouldn't be just crying out for someone like him to go there, teach culture, be a role model and help bring that club together. Reality is I just suppose we just don't need him. Sad.
  11. No player review. No replay on the MFC site. Disappointing.
  12. Help me here. You're worried about what happened 30 years ago because it sets a president for what might happen today despite all indications to the contrary and then support the your assertion that the AFL will reduce the number of clubs with "The AFL empire builders will do whatever it takes to EXPAND and consolidate their empire". I'm confused but lets leave it there, I doubt we'll make much progress.
  13. I wasn't nitpicking Sue, I just quoted you and then explained why the MFC fitted your definition. And don't think for a moment the name Melbourne is any protection to being made redundant, there is no "London" in the EPL. If MFC were to disappear it would cause the least disruption to the AFL of any Vic team, we have the least number of supporters as evidenced by the Morgan poll and I'd contend after our performance over the last 10 years one of the smallest supporter bases amongst kids. The AFL is wedded to 9 games because that's what the media agreement says. TV wants games to show and they want good quality games. That's why the AFL is trying to make all clubs competitive. Less games means less content and that means less money. The AFL is unlikely to want to reduce content volume and they will want to increase content quality and they are doing that by helping weak clubs, imposing draft and salary cap conditions and FD spending limits. Over the last 15 or so years the AFL has had the chance to reduce the number of AFL clubs but haven't. In fact they've gone out of their way to maintain and increase them. They did not force Bullies to relocate to GWS (or was it North, can't remember). You suggest that "if the AFL was starting from scratch" we'd have a different model. So what? We've got what we have and the AFL is showing no signs of reducing the number of clubs. Whilst neither of us can eavesdrop on the AFL we can look at their philosophies, policies and actions and there is nothing in them to suggest a reduction in the number of teams. I'd contend that my view is based on the evidence of the AFL behaviour and yours is contrary to it.
  14. Thanks Abe I knew all that. But for the record I never mentioned Franklin's compensation so I don't know why you're addressing this to me.
  15. You said " The AFL will do whatever it takes and if that means screwing the weak Vic clubs they will." They're your words. There was no MFC exclusion. MFC was the weakest of the the weak 2013 and they dragged us along by our bootlaces. They took us over, rebuilt us and have delivered by good management (and generosity) our best chance of success since the 90's. They don't do what they can to screw the weak Vic club, they do a fair bit to help them. Bullies, Dogs, MFC and Kanga's have all from time to time received help from the AFL and I suspect probably the Saints as well. The AFL don't want to see any club fail, they want them all playing competitive footy because that drives attendances, memberships and ratings. From that they earn money from sponsorships and media. They are contracted for 9 games of AFL footy per week, what on earth are they going to do if they can't provide those? IMO your view is seriously misguided.
  16. Thanks jmrmac. You're not the accurate one are you! Where on earth did I mention Hawthorn getting pick 17 for buddy. Whilst there are guidelines for FA compensation there is also AFL discretion.
  17. Is this the same AFL who granted us the same compensation for Tom Scully that Geelong got for Gary Ablett as well as pick 3 for James Frawley (who most here didn't rate anyway and most in the industry saw as gross overcompensation)? The same AFL that rid our club of incompetent administrators and football department personnel, paid out their contracts some of which had been recently extended despite the outcome from a tanking investigation still to be handed down, who put in a first class CEO, oversaw the appointment of a vastly improved Board and didn't impose draft penalties despite being found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute? The same AFL who guaranteed our overdraft and gave our club funds in 2003 to help pay a tax bill (amongst other things) that had been hidden in the bottom draw of a desk when we were one step from insolvency? Is this the same AFL who has negotiated massive media rights deals that has subsequently provided poorer clubs with enough money to compete? And you criticise them for not ridding us of Essendon which would most likely put the media rights deal at risk and as a result the survival of poorer clubs through lack of funding. Fancy the AFL wanting to help Brisbane become a competitive team which would do nothing but help the entire competition by giving them a priority pick which would grant them one player and push us from pick 40 something to 40 something plus 1 (assuming Hibbert costs our second round pick). Gosh, what incompetence. Yep, we've been screwed, we deserve more because as a club over the last 10+ years we've been such a beacon of competence and success. You should be careful what you wish for Sue because heaven help us if we got it.
  18. You're struggling. I've told you what I'll do in my post. I'll try and understand it. I'll look at it in context of the whole season. You've not told me what you'll do other than "I won't cop it". Wow.
  19. So you're "not going to cop it". What are you going to do? [censored] on Demonland. Wow. Yes, I do need an explanation and you haven't offered one. BTW you're not the only one. SWYL won't cop it either. Wow. Such powerful and meaningless talk. Almost as bad as Connolly's pathetic article.
  20. Yes I can. Yes I did. You can side with Connolly all you like for all I care but it's just a junk article.
  21. Explain what this means? It happened. You either support us or you don't. It's not a matter of "copping it", that's meaningless rhetoric.
  22. Not in my view. Typical example of Monday 48 hour syndrome. If MFC supporters are so stupid as to let one very poor performance colour their view of the future I wish them a long and miserable summer. Anyone with half a brain could see we were cooked for the last two games and were probably cooked from the midway through the 2nd quarter against Port. Young team, huge efforts against West Coast, Suns, Hawks and another away trip to PA and they were clearly exhausted. Couldn't run. It's pretty easy sitting in our chairs to be critical of effort but I doubt any of us have any idea of the mental and physical toll 6 months or so of competitive AFL footy has on the body - unless of course you've done it. Roos has said time and time again how young we are. Does anyone really think that playing older teams with games and preseasons under their belt isn't a significant disadvantage? Give me a break. Connolly of course wants to be "hard hitting" but his analysis covers 48 hours and not the progress we've made this season. So the irrational naysayers can slit their wrists for all I care. I'll watch the Hawks replay and think of another year under the belt of numerous talented youngsters, the added strength and experience of two former Bombers (how that must niggle the Ivory Tower brigade especially since our Coach was "first in line for the good stuff) and the promise that next year holds. Crap article by Connolly. Rubbish, garbage, junk and sadly misguided.
  23. Yet another good game by your boy Samuel. Do you think he'll attract interest from others? Unlucky to be dropped I thought.
  24. Apart from Viney x 2 all I'd take issue with is Brayshaw who I thought was good. Nice job this season Joeboy.
  25. So is Nasher. He thinks "no Harmes, no Melbourne"!
