  1. Tell em they're dreaming. We arn't going to fall for that [censored] again. Plus, it will be like 2018 in reverse. They are hitting a purple patch right now, but are having to throw everything they have at it just to make it and I'm tipping they will fall in a heap sooner or later.
  2. It's all cool here. Just a bit of drunk posting. Tried to correct a spelling mistake and ended up quoting myself 🤪
  3. You know, these sound engineers hace created the best crowd support the Giants have ever had. Stands look true to form for the Sydney Showgrounds though.
  4. Yeah, but thinking about it, there are probably a bunch of rules like that. Players just need to play conservatively and let the player run around until they are sure they hear the play on call. Lets more playera get that extra few yards on the kick and lengthen the ground. On ballance, I like the rule and I don't think it's that different from how the game was played back in the day. The other thing I think I have noticed is that I generally think it has stopped the man on the mark from holding on to the player with the kick for ages in an attempt to hold them up and stop them playing on, because they can just play on anyways. Unless the players are on the ground, then the umpires seem to have infinite patience towards the player clumsily holding up the play, without paying 50m, which I actually find total BS, regardless of the team.
  5. Try it again, until Ninethmond are back in their rightful place please!
  6. You of the cheep seats bingers! Lol
  7. Can you make a brown and gold version of this? No hawk on it, I want to see something that Don Scott would want to rip apart!
  8. I just hope the Tassie govenment arn't bluffing and it costs Hawthorn their major sponsor. That combined with all the internal divisions that Kennett and the treatment of Clarkson has caused, could really combine to set them back and consign them to the doldrums for a good period.
  9. IF we make the GF and Jones is fit, the he starts on the ground IMHO. If he starts as the sub, that would be viewed as a token effort and an insult to him, which wouldn't be fitting of the contribution of him over the journey. Even if his body isn't what it was a few years ago, he's still close to as good as a few players on the frindge of the team at the moment. If he plays, he will put in 200%, definitely wouldn't back out of a contest and would strike fear into the opposition in his immediate area. I think there is less risk of him being overawed by the occation than some of the less experienced players on our list. Back in 2000, none of our players stood up and matched it with Essendon physically, when Sheedy bought out his typical dirty thuggery. Jones bluntly wouldn't stand for that and he'd fly the flag with a few others like Viney, Hibbo and Maysy to get the message across that we will not be physically intimidated. Even if his body only makes it through half to three quarters of a game, we then have the sub and it would be a high value half a game we'd get from Jonesy. The fabric of footy clubs are built on spirit and playing Jonesy epitomizes that. We are in it, he is fit, he plays and starts on the ground.
  10. Hasn't been announced yet, so not soon enough. Total muppet and provided a shocking umpiring combo against us yet again.
  11. Sorry, not convinced GWS are/Will be the worst side in the top 8. * Brisbane have been puss over the last 4+ weeks since loosing a few players * West Coast are complete puss anywhere but Optus * If Richmond fall into the top 8 almost by default, then they will be every bit the battle weary, flaky side, just ready to fold like a pack of cards against decient opposition. They might pull one out first week of finals, but will be found out in subsequent weeks. Haven't had what it takes to string together consistent form and wins against good sides this season.
  12. I've been glad Sparrow has been given a few consecutive weeks to establish himself and build form after being there abouts and banging down the door in the magoos. Problem for me is that he hasn't really imposed himself on the side in any games within that time and hasn't made any real case to keep his spot any longer. Someone like Jones or Melksham are more damaging and creative from the limited opportunities they get in games. Still appears to have some potential to step up and break into the side in the future and is handy depth, but I feel he needs to put in a really big preseason and take his game to another level, because apart from being a really good kick for goal he is somewhat vanilla at the moment. Seems to have a good ballanced head on his shoulders, so I'm backing him to persevere and make a go of it at some stage, I just don't think he's best 22 material in 2021.
  13. 6. Harmes 5. ANB 4. Clarry 3. Trac 2. Gawn 1. Bowey
  14. We eventually turned Tom Scully into Steven May and left the carcass of Tom Scully for the vultures at Glenferrie Rd to clog a list spot with, so in the end it could be viewed as a win, win.
  15. Agree, I don't think I'd be devastated either, but really do hope that we can build some form and chalk up the Ws over this last few games. I do suspect that there has been some tweaks and experimentation with the game plan and personnel over the past few months but I think it's really important that we hit finals having consolidated that and built confidence in those changes so that we are cherry ripe and ready to tear the rest of the competition apart in devastating, ruthless style.
  16. The one flip side to the long weekend of waiting for our game is that it's helping give me something extra to get through the usual Monday workday drudgery.
  17. I know it probably doesn't make a big difference once finals start, but I would love to see us win tonight and be in the box seat to win the minor premiership. Think it would be a good psychological boost for the boys and our supporters if nothing else. ...of course the media would still be asking if we are the real deal, but who cares what they think. Anyways get the job done tonight boys or it's all academic.
  18. Really happy for Hawthorn and their supporters to see them making this great late season charge. What an excellent and fitting parting gift it would be from Clarko to Jeff if he could get his beloved Hawks another rung or four up the ladder and weaken whatever draft hand they have a bit.
  19. I think this is the key to it. Having watched a fair bit of Martin in the past and having seen what he can produce, I still think he can be an elite player in the same mold as Charlie Cameron is at the Lions. But he certainly isn't delivering value for money at the moment. Really glad our list management team seems to apply a such a mature approach to picking and choosing which players we chase hard and are prepared to offer good, but not ridiculous money too. Hibbard, Lever, May, Langdon, Tomlinson all have such great character that go along with what I assume are reasonably priced salaries. From what I recall, Lever and May are on pretty decient coin, but it's not the stupid big highest bidder type money either. I'd imagine they could both have attracted a far bigger pay check elsewhere. As another asides, there is a lesson in all this for the Weid too I think and I actually personally get the impression that it's not lost on him.
  20. Congratulations on game 100 Nibbler. Was a great game that one, Max Gawn's break out game as well, when he stamped himself all over it, taking a ton of big grabs all over the shop. Let's hope Nibblers game 100 can be just as memorable for a gusty win in another highly adversarial enemy territory in West. Nibbler has well worn the scapegoat tag for all our failings in the past, for reasons I really can't understand. Like many in the team, he has lifted his game to new levels this season, but to me, the signs of his elite running, smart ball use by foot and handy goal sneak ability have been there for a while. His form this season and notching up 100 games is a triumph for the lesserlikes over the marque players of footy.
  21. Wow, that's incredible. Wouldn't it be amazing if they got more injuries before the end of the season and had to pick some lucky bloke out of the VFL not even on an AFL list to put 22 players on the field.
  22. Talking about players/teams doing a Melbourne, gee I loved that shot for goal from was it Jordan Clark last night in the last quarter. Easy set shot, 15m out stuff all angle and he tries on some stupid around the corner kick and puts it out on the full. Geelong were only 9 points down at the time and had around 6mins or something on the clock. Had he kicked that, I reckon GWS would have [censored] the bed and rolled over. Way worse than Max Gawn's miss against the Cats in 2018 or whenever it was. At least Max had the excuse of genuine pressure of the moment and in front of a big crowd. Reeked of arrogance and a lack of footy sense on behalf of Clark.
  23. I can't realistically see how it would happen, but I'd really love it if Gold Coast could dig deep after their embarrassment of last week and knock off Carlton today. Would make Carlton supporters feel some Melbourne like pain of having their season snuffed out totally by a team they should beat every other day, after thinking they might be within a sniff of a finals chance after their win last week.
  24. Petty could potentially do the job as well, as could May in the end as all three of our key backs are pretty good readers of the ball and interceptors. I guess I was thinking that out of the three, Lever is the more likely to play with a bit of physical distance between him and his opponent and not get engaged physically which plays to Hawkins key asset - he's just such a huge powerful man, to the point that he makes May almost seem puny and weak.
  25. Really must say that I don't really like Monday night or Sunday night games for that matter. I find I get impatient waiting out the whole round / weekend to watch us play unbearable, particularly now we are playing so well and I expect us to win most games.
