SCRATCH MATCH: Essendon @ Casey (21/2/20)
Wiseblood replied to buck_nekkid's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hardly a surprise when there were barely any MFC players in the game, and of the ones that were, at least half have no AFL experience. Save your ham for tomorrow if it happens then. The article was clearly written by @poita. -

Good day for the club. Players who are being rotated still get a run against some AFL standard players and it looks like our guys got through unscathed. Great result. -

Dees with another one through Briggs (VFL) 16-27 Bombers way. -
When you read that article it seems quite incredible that they let him go, especially with the futures of Daniher and Fantasia still up in the air somewhat. Their loss is our gain.

We have, but so far we've kicked 10 points and 4 out on the full. Players are in full panic mode. -
Thanks for the report, Bob. Is it possible that the missing players are potentially playing at Casey today? I know a few were named in the main side for tomorrow, but they may also have given the morning off to a few in prep for the game against the Crows.

Funny you mention that - Jenkins only kicked 11 goals in 8 games against us. Feels like he kicked far more than that, but we always seemed to cover his sheep dog tactics quite well. Betts has 36 goals against us in 20 games, so he has fared far better than Jenkins has.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, and sorry to derail the thread. I'm on Telstra too and the $15 for 12 months deal seems like an absolute no brainer. I'll be checking it out for sure. Cheers.

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated.

I've got Foxtel currently by really only use it for sport. For those who use Kayo - what are your thoughts on the service? Happy with it? Not happy with it? I'm thinking seriously about making the change.

Cue the usual suspects still slashing their wrists over losing the game by 8 goals when we're only fielding a small handful of AFL listed players. -
First half has been a classic pre-season game: decent skills but plenty of errors, one team starting hot then the other getting into the groove... neither side worries me all that much though.
-
These are meaningless games... until we get rolled. Then it's got all the meaning in the world.
-
Can't play them all. I dare say they'll get a run in the following game while others are managed.
-
I love a cherry picker. Look at the forwards around him. Trac, Melksham, Fritsch, T Mac and Vanders... As I said, pretty strong overall.
-
Pretty strong team overall. Great to see Vanders back as well. Fingers crossed he gets through the game well!

I was at this game. Lumumba (he was Harry O'Brien back then) got injured early and Robbo went bananas. The filth supporters thought it was going to be a walkover and we shoved it right back down their throats. Great stuff.
-
Cheers Bob. My 'bulk of the pre-season' comment was based on the fact that, compared to last season, he had seemingly done everything asked of him up until the injury, which I feel would still leave him in a good spot leading up to the season. You guys would know more than me on that, but compared the pre-season he had last year, he looks to be in a better position to be ready for the year ahead.
-
True. I won't argue that. But it was still a silly decision on the tribunal's part.
-
That suspension he got last year was an absolute joke. It was worth a small fine, at best.
-
It will be me. ANB will run into an open goal, miss and then I'll break my hand as I punch the wall. It's inevitable.
-
Let's be honest - the leadership group and the big announcement is more for 'show' than anything. We will already have leaders across the ground (eg. someone like Jake Lever or Nev Jetta directing traffic in the backline) so not announcing anything right now isn't a big deal.
-
You might be right rjay. But that's life. I don't expect the club to always tell the 'whole' truth. Maybe they believed it wasn't too bad and it's taking a little longer? That happens from time to time. Either way, May has done the bulk of the pre-season and should therefore be in pretty good nick regardless. Here's hoping he can be right for Round 1.
-
Ah, don't be like that Andy! The best is yet to come - frustration, anger, sadness, depression. You can't tell me you've missed those feelings... ?
-
Doesn't matter though. If the other five who don't play get a good run on Friday then it's still a win. The more game time we get into the legs of all players, the better off we'll be.
