  1. Right now, we need Preuss more than we need Tyson. That's why we do the swap. Forget how many games they played. We know Preuss can hang with the big boys and will be the perfect support for Max, something we've all been crying out for. Tyson has been playing at Casey and then shunted to a wing, where he has little impact, when in the senior side. I'd swap Tyson for Preuss every day of the week in terms of how well it will help to balance the list.
  2. Now he just needs to sign a 5 year deal and I'll believe it.
  3. He's over there doing the surgery now. Pics on his Instagram later.
  4. While you're right re: Brayshaw, you could argue that about any Top 10 pick and how they'll make the transition. There are just as many failures as there are success stories. 2 Top 10 picks can be interpreted a few different ways, as in they don't just have to be picks. One top 10 pick and a highly rated player would fit the bill as well.
  5. Depends how they feel about picks. If they want to hold on to one then they'll have to look at potentially moving a player or worth on, especially if we hold firm for two low picks. Plus that doesn't take into account any further swap of picks (eg. Hogan and next years second rounder for their first this year and Brayshaw) or something along those lines. I don't think it will be as cut and dried as Hogan for two picks or one pick and a player, as other picks may be involved in the deal.
  6. I agree SWYL, even though I don't think that will end up happening. Would you be happy with a low first rounder (say, Pick 5), and a player like Brayshaw? I see it as similar to the two first round picks, plus Brayshaw has already had a year in the system and shown he can play.
  7. 'Cartwright? CARTWRIGHT!
  8. Of course, but I'm talking simply about a deal in general, which is what they mentioned above (if it's in fact true to begin with). If Hogan wants to go home, then Freo will be paying fair price to get him. I'm confident we will get what we need.
  9. I doubt we get that, but that's the starting point. You always ask for more than you want, so when you meet in the middle you get generally the right deal. Plenty of water to go under the bridge with this one.
  10. We have the culture to take on someone like this... but Bennell is too far gone for mine. I don't think the best culture in the world could keep him under wraps. No from me too.
  11. If you could pass that on to Freo, so they only give a second rounder, it would be much appreciated!
  12. Buckenara says that Hogan isn't worth two first round picks, more like an early first rounder (eg. Pick 4 or 5) and a swap of second round picks.
  13. Brad Scott right now:
  14. Just like it's spelled Winx, genius.
  15. He'd be handy on a wing, Steve. Quick, good endurance, gets to the right positions. Plus he knows how to win. Get it done, Josh!
  16. Why should he be disregarded? Is it his good year at Casey that has turned you off? The bloke could be good depth for us going forward. I don't know why I'm bothering to argue the point with you as you've got your mind made up, but I think you're wrong.
  17. Read my post. I said we should consider it in terms of any interest in another backman, like Alex Pearce, which is what AF suggested. It has nothing to do with adding May to our list. We will go for him regardless. In my opinion we have no need to add a further key backman to our list outside of May.
  18. Where did I say any of that? All I said was that there was some chance he could be upgraded, which means we would have plenty of cover down back, and thus we would probably not pursue two key defenders in the trade period. There's no need to put words in my mouth to back up your opinion on a player.
  19. Hey Brad, guess what? Gaff isn't coming to Norf!!
  20. Would we really go for Pearce as well as May? We've just re-signed O Mac, Frost is still contracted, we have Petty waiting in the wings and it sounds like there is a chance Keilty might be upgraded come draft time as well. Seems like a bit of overkill in the 'tall backs' department to me.
  21. Brayshaw or Cerra. I'm not a huge Ed Langdon fan but you get the suspicion that they would rather add him to the deal than either of those two players.
  22. I'll make the point here, as I'm sure others will question my post as well, that I'm not advocating for just one pick for Hogan. Far from it. I think he's worth more and I'll be a little disappointed if that's all we get. However, as you say, we don't know the true worth of a trade for at least a few years after it occurs, so I won't be ranting and raving if we were to only get one pick for him. Look at how everyone treated Ports off season in 2017 - journos were calling them 'October Premiers' for snagging Watts, Rockliff and Motlop. They didn't even make the finals. And of course threads like this are for those to rant and rave, and it annoys me that people bring that up, like it excuses them for any type of over the top behaviour. We can discuss things from both sides, which is what I was doing with Graeme in my earlier posts. Some will get upset, others won't. Both are welcome to those responses equally.
  23. You weren't crude at all! I just didn't want to come across as if I was in my response. I think that second sentence sums everything up - you're right, we don't know what's going to happen, which is why we can't judge a trade until we see more of the outcome. Heck, we don't even know what we're getting for Hogan just yet. I'll trust Mahoney and co. to do the right thing by the club.
  24. There are lots of possibilities, Red, one of which you've mentioned above. It could turn out to be a 3,4,5 team deal, it could be a straight swap, future picks are involved, and so on and so on. Some are getting all antsy that we will get 'unders' for Jesse, but there has been no indication that will happen. Freo didn't really shoot down giving up more than Pick 5, while Mahoney said we would be looking for one of the best deals ever done for a player. If you meet in the middle of that then you would expect two picks or one pick and a good player in return. A few low rent journos might be suggesting just Pick 5 is involved, but that is nothing more than their opinion.
