  1. Plus we tend to have at least one extra player at that contest. If we go with the hurried kick we can turn it over easily and then they have the spare players to spread and score. If we get that handball out and allow some time to dispose of it then we look like a dangerous footy side. We just need to learn, as I'm sure we will, to do it more consistently, especially when under pressure from good sides.
  2. I've been one of his biggest detractors, but he was close to our best player in the first half. He was terrific. Faded in the second half, no doubt, and that error at the end was bad, but if we based things off an error like than then many of our players wouldn't get a gig either. Calling it now that he'll be in the side again next week.
  3. Have to agree re: Dawes. Didn't give us enough today. I do like for our structure as he knows where to lead and he takes one of their key defenders away from Jesse, but he needs to do more in everything else. Just didn't do that today. The bit of play that summed his day up was when he laid a good tackle, got the free and then proceeded to kick it backwards and have that kick fall short, resulting in a turnover. Not good enough. Are Hulett or Weideman ready? Pedo didn't look like he played at Casey today so I can't see him coming in. Interesting decision ahead this week.
  4. Yes, season over. I don't think we would have made the finals even with a win today, but it would have been nice to dream a little longer. Disappointing to lose today. We obviously still lack the ability to win these sorts of games - we have lost close ones to North, Hawthorn and the Crows, and they are games we most certainly could have won. Turnovers and some skill errors hurt, and while they are covered against lower sides, a side like the Crows make you pay for it. Too much quality there. I thought there was still plenty to like. Hunt was terrific. Jack Watts stood up for 4 quarters, as did the captain, as he always does. I thought our key backs, apart from a few mis-fires, gave a good account of themselves and it was great to see Jeffy back in good form today. Just shows you how important he is to the side going forward and was always too good for the VFL. We are a better side with a much better gameplan. We just need to learn to execute better under pressure and make sides pay on the rebound. Exciting times ahead though, we are building a strong list that just needs more games in their legs.
  5. Why? Dunn wouldn't have stopped that mark. It was to Jenkins' advantage.
  6. Boy did we need that. Crows are a quality side, they were always going to come out hard after half time. Need to get those centre clearances going again.
  7. Yep, we haven't come out switched on. We need to get going quickly.
  8. Welcome back. Didn't see you much while we were dominating.
  9. Good response from the boys. Two crucial goals and the lead going in to half time.
  10. Poor kick from Jones. We've done plenty of good things today, but a few of our experienced players have made some poor decisions. Got to hold firm here.
  11. Super, super play from Jayden Hunt. Simply fantastic stuff. Beautiful kick from Kent as well. Great stuff Dees!
  12. Rubbish decision umpire. Petracca mark all day long!
  13. Gee we made hard work of it, but we deserved that goal. Good start to the second term.
  14. Exactly. We just need to fix up our disposal by hand and those turnovers going forward.
  15. Not all doom and gloom. If we can fix up the mistakes, and that's a big if, then we're still in this contest. Boys are working hard and looking to play on from every opportunity. We need to get better at the clearances too, as they are quelling what has been a real strength this year.
  16. Far poorer? Adelaide have only scored 50 more points across the season than the Hawks. I know all scores don't just come from the forward line, but clearly the Hawks can score just as well as the Crows. If we can defend like we did against the Hawks then it gives us a chance.
  17. Great news that Viney is playing. Even if he isn't at 100% he is still better than most of their midfield. If we can shut down Sloane, or at least keep his impact on the game minimal, then our midfield should well and truly get on top of theirs. Don't agree with whoever it was who said Hogan will get shut down by Talia - if we get it in their quick enough, and use it well, then Hogan can easily kick goals on Talia. If we play in to their hands then it makes things difficult.
