  1. Not only that, but supporters get annoyed when we 'overlooked' a player that was also ignored in the draft by most of the other clubs in the competition as well. "We could have had him" they cry... yeah, so could the rest of the competition...
  2. GC had far more money to throw around than what Richmond will be able to do, though. It's not as if they can offer a Godfather style offer that clubs can't get close to matching. We will go close to matching whatever the Tigers are willing to put on the table which will eliminate the pull of money. If Prestia wants success, and a good pay packet, then the choice is Melbourne.
  3. Clearly a different set of circumstances.
  4. The only problem I see in landing Prestia is what we need to give up to get him - forget our picks for the moment, as we know they'll have to come in to play. But what players on our list are expendable, and worth enough, that we can use them as part of the deal? I guess it all depends on how supporters rate Prestia, as AdamFarr would be happy to hand over Salem, Hogan and Viney to get him, while others think next years pick and ANB would be enough which, as an example, is not enough to get the job done. I'm interested to hear what others think is a worthwhile and, above all else, logical trade that would get the deal over the line.
  5. Or the whole team decides not to show up and we win by forfeit.
  6. I got there for about an hour. Plenty of kicking, handpassing and marking. Lots of running, they did that well. There was a good selection of different coloured footy boots too. Found out that some support Arsenal, others Man Utd. There was one who supported Leicester but that was a bandwagon jumper, chap. Took an unbelievable amount of photos of their arms and legs. Got one player while they were bending over too. I also took the opportunity to tell every single player how poor they are and what they need to improve on. Surprisingly they took it well, told them not to look at Demonland as they do the same thing there but it doesn't hold any weight as it's not in person. Any questions feel free to ask.
  7. Fair points there mate, I can't argue that. I agree that he is certainly not the damaging player he once was, say, 2-3 years ago. I guess I'm rating him based on that past - I feel as though he would slot very nicely into our current midfield and, for example, rotate with someone like Petracca through the middle and a forward pocket. However, as you mentioned, we probably need players who are more damaging on the outside than Rockliff. Plus the Lions would want far too much in a trade and I doubt Rockliff wants out anyway.
  8. Possibly, but to me it's no different to what we did with the expansion clubs a few years back so they wouldn't bid on Viney. Clubs will always try and find little loopholes here and there to exploit within the rules, and this seems like one of them. If they do that deal then fair play to them.
  9. True, but there is zero chance they trade away a key part of their future to get him.
  10. Ours turns up more than theirs. We haven't been flogged by 100 and 88 points this year.
  11. You could say that about most players. Salem is an important part of our future though, and it would take plenty for us to trade him.
  12. You answered your own question there, John - we have leaders. Brisbane don't. Rockliff wouldn't need to come in to be a leader, he can just come to the club and play football. That's what he's good at. To me he's never been a leader but they've not had anyone else to do it. It's a moot point anyway as I think he will stick with Brisbane, but if we could get him, we would be crazy to say no.
  13. I think you forget how good Matty Whelan was. I think Gorgoroth is selling Jetta short a little, but Wrecker was sensational in both his drive off half back and his ability to win the one on one contest. He was a super player.
  14. Just heard he supports the Perth Glory in the A-League. Clearly, he's gone. Anything related to Perth = Gone!
  15. No. They're a top 8 side, as evidenced by their current position. We rolled them. As Ricky said, I think both clubs are on the same trajectory right now.
  16. Just as we have. But don't let facts get in the way of a good story.
  17. No! It can't be! Must be Schwab's fault.
  18. GC up by 1 point at half time. Look out everyone, this means that GC have 'gone past us' and are 'progessing at a faster rate', while we've beaten no one of note and it's clear that Roos is taking us backwards.
  19. Not angry, just can't believe the defeatist attitude. We are win with a shot, and can beat, quite a number of sides in the final 9 rounds. Gold Coast, Carlton and Fremantle are games we should win. We are in with a chance against Port, Adelaide (because it's at the G) and the Saints (don't give me the Etihad stuff, they're beatable). To me, we can put at least 4 more wins on the board and finish with 10 for the season.
  20. Rubbish. Total and utter rubbish. We've been in every contest this year - even last weekend, up until three quarter time, we were only 4 goals down. We are in with a shot in each game will play in the final 9 rounds, and this defeatist attitude above is well off the mark.
  21. Exactly. Saints win one over good opposition, they've gone ahead of us. That is until they lose next week and that perception changes.
  22. I hate both clubs, but gee that was a great finish. Thought the Saints were done when Membrey missed but they stuck at it, full credit to them.
  23. It's not our fault that the Pies overrated him. He wouldn't be doing anything differently in our back half either. He'll have the odd good game, some decent ones and others where he goes missing.
