He is the best kick inside 50 we have. Full stop. Offers more than Chandler IMO
-
Gun! And future MFC legend IMO.
-
We need a petition 🤣
-
He should be booed off stage at the B&F. Send a message to the headless chooks running our club.

I'll get shot down for this I'm sure, but if the Dees Trade Oliver to Geelong, I'll be done with this club. This is the first time in my 20 years as a member that I have even considered such a thing.
-
He can certainly play! Would love him in the red a blue if possible. Not sure 5 years is necessary but maybe a 3+2 option deal....I would much rather chase players like this than old past it delisted players like Seb Ross, jack martin etc.

Still interested in basically all of the young guns on this list. But I am now extra keen on Josh Ward. Proved on the weekend that when he gets to play in his preferred spot he has potential to be an A grade player. 22 Disposal (8 contested) and 9 Tackles from only 64% TOG. Had the most tackles on the ground and looks to have improved his physicality. With Will Day and McKenzie clearly the preferred options but out injured, he may be open to a club change. Secondly, With the new Dusty bombshell, we MUST knock on the door of GC for young Humphries. unlikely he will break into that midfield anytime soon and is wasted playing full time forward pocket. In: Ward, Humphries, Pick 5 (gun Mid). This would be a huge boost for not only our midfield but the overall youth and excitement surrounding the club. I don't no about you all, but seeing Ward, Humphries, Smillie/O'Sullivan joining current youth would make me super excited for round 1 This youth added to our current vets sets us up for the long haul but also allows us to compete now. Midfeild Group 2025: Trac, Oliver Viney, Rivers, Ward, Humphries, Pick 5. Plus the occasional cameo from Kozzy, Windsor, Mcvee & Kolt.

Super Happy with this! Looked to have a new lease on life this year down back. He may even go on further if he keeps his 2024 form up! Interestingly, Macca is currently 12th on the games played list for the Dees. None of those above him have a flag to there name either.

Although things seem to have turned a corner lately, this year has highlighted to me how little depth we seem to have through the center of the ground. Which, in my opinion is the most important part of a modern day AFL list. I feel we need to bolster our midfield ASAP and believe this year there are several high potential targets out there for us to look at. I don’t want anymore 26+ year old rejects from other clubs, as I feel that sets us back to in our age demographic and I think we need to re-energize the list with some youth. I feel we should be targeting high potential youngsters that are for whatever reason struggling to break into their current sides or cannot get game time in their preferred position. I understand we need other positions filling as well, but if we can snag 2-3 off this list and keep our first rounder this year, I think we would have done very well. Tier 1 Ben Hobbs Down the pecking order at Essendon but has the potential to be an outstanding player. He can’t get a decent run at it in the Dons midfield which is his best position. I love the way he attacks the ball, has a touch of class and can hit the scoreboard if pushed forward. The Dons midfield still has Parish out injured with Tsatas and Setterfeild as further options so he may look elsewhere. We should be in his ear and try to lure him over with opportunities to play in the guts on a more regular basis. Angus Sheldrick. Clearance machine and unlikely to get a run at his best role anytime soon as the Sydney’s midfield is an embarrassment of riches. Been injured most of the year but would be a walk up start in a lot of midfields when healthy IMO. I get young Jack Viney vibes off him, and his ceiling is yet to be shown at AFL level. Another we could potentially grab on the cheap and he is excess to the swans needs. Bailey Humphrey Most of us here are aware of Bailey as I believe we went hard to try and trade up to snag him in his draft year. He wants to play midfield but is stuck playing forward full time which is a waste of his talent IMO. With the absolute hoard of mids at GC he may not get a look in for many years. If we can get into his ear about coming home and offer the chance to get midfield time, he may just be gettable. He is only in his second year but I can see Petracca like qualities in this kid. Would be an absolute coup if we could land him, but we got to be in it to win it. Tier 2 Josh Ward Looked like an absolute future star in his first 2 years but has been down this year and pushed out of the side due to Worpel, Day, Newcombe and bizarrely Connor Nash taking almost all midfield rotations. They have tried him on the wing, but it just doesn’t suit him. He would add some class to our mid-mix and has an elite kick inside 50. The only knock I have he that he doesn’t relish contact like he needs to, but he is still young and has an extremely high ceiling. Down on confidence at the moment, but the kid can play! It would be a buy low type of trade that could pay off big time. Neil Erasmus Absolutely dominates the midfield at WAFL level, but with the young gun midfield at Freo it seems inevitable he will be on the move at season’s end. The former pick 10 is a Big bodied mid and only 20 years old. Not the best user of the ball, but hey, either is Viney, Clatty, Sparrow etc. He has never really been given a chance to prove himself in the guts at Freo, but the potential is there. Potential bargain if we can get him on the cheap. Luke Pedlar I don’t understand the way the crows have handled this bloke. Yes, his body has often let him down so far in his career, but Nicks almost exclusively plays him forward in a team that really struggles to move the ball cleanly, or he is stuck in the 2s. On the few occasions Luke has got some center bounces attendances, he has shown some serious talent and some very nice and rare attributes. He is not a huge build but goes very very hard at the ball and man. If he can get his body right, I see him as an explosive, tough and skilled Mid/Fwd with huge potential upside. Tier 3 Alex Davies. Not the same level of player as the formerly mentioned but would cost basically nothing and would certainly add to our midfield mix. 191cm midfielder and still only 22. Gold Coast have solid midfield depth at the moment and he is right on the cusp of getting regular game time. Works hard and cracks in. Would be a could get IMO. He is rough and raw but there is a lot to like in his game. A late 3rd or 4th rounder could get it done. Henry Hustwaite This kid has class, skill and that elite “Pendlebury” awareness in his game. Has played a few games this year at AFL level and while he didn’t star, he showed signs and potential. Hawk midfield is deep at the moment, and he is back in the pecking order. I don’t think the Hawks would want to lose him and it would at least be worth putting out the feelers. Jaxon Binns More of an outside type, Binns racks it up in the VFL and has shown he is above the level. The Midfield at the blues is stacked both inside and out so his chances to play seniors have been extremely limited. Probably not any chance of becoming a center bounces player so would be lower on my priority list but the kid can play and would be an upgrade on Laurie or billings. A late pick should get it done and he would most likely offer more than a 3rd round kid in the draft will. Elijah Tsatas Another ball magnet and high-end draft pick rotting away in the 2’s for Essendon. His kicking is suspect at times but he works hard and can find the pill with ease. If he can put on some size and tidy up his disposal, he would be a very handy AFL level mid. Huge upside if he keeps improving and wouldn’t cost the world IMO

Been feeling this for a while but tonight it has come to a head......we are so f$#@ing boring to watch.

Lots of unfair potting of our Fwds, umpires and young defenders going on in here. The team across the board looked very flat, however we lost this game due to the worst midfield performance we have dished up since at least the start of the Goodwin era. Our big three all had shockingly bad games and should cop the majority of the blame. They were not alone of course but Oliver, Trac, Viney and Gawn are our engine, without them at least running at 80% the rest of team has no chance of fulfilling there own roles. We can carry a sub par game from 1 of them here and there, perhaps even a so-so performance from 2 of them, but when all three dish up what they did last night we would be lucky to beat any team. I know Fantasy scores are not always the best judge of a player impact but these stats are damning: Petrraca had 59 SC points, lowest since 2018. For context last year he averaged 119 per game. Oliver has had 62 and 65 Points the past 2 weeks, both games ranked in his worst 4 games since his debut year. Averaged 121 last year and 127 in 2022. Cleary hampered and should not be playing. Jack somehow managed to get 75 but most of his score came when the game was already lost and was still 30sih points below his season average. These 3 are champions of our club and I am sure they will bounce back. However, for all three to have poor games to this level suggests to me that this wasn't just Brisbane being good. My guess is the team was cooked from the get go and the bye could not have come at a better time for us. The Richmond game will show us a hell of a lot.

Caleb was born 18 years after Robbie retired! He is more likely to say "Who the hell is Robbie Flower?" 😅 Early days but you could be right! The 2023 Draft class is starting to look like a promising bunch. Read and Walter are future guns for GC/the team they head to after there contract runs out. Wilson, Sanders, Reid, And Watson are all having impact already! Duursma and Mckercher look very promising too. The difference is Caleb gets to slot into a very consistent and high preforming 22. The poor Roos kids are stuck in an absolute rabble. Reminds me of what we did to Scully & Trenners. Having said all that, Caleb at pick 7 is looking like an absolute steal! Now bring on the Kolt!

No doubt! A but a plastic bag floating around the SCG would have had more impact last night, and would have certainly offered more physicality. Its mind-blowing that bloke was pick 2. He had 1 Hit out and 1 effective disposal last night.... In fact, in his last 20 games at AFL level he has kicked 11 goals and had 22 hit-outs TOTAL! This illustrates that he is not up to it as a key fwd or a ruck. its crazy he is even on our list yet alone getting a game at AFL level. I remember when we had a mantra of "drafting competitors". That's clearly gone out the window now with players like Laurie, Schache, Billings skirting around the ground doing sweet FA and refusing to cop an contact whatsoever.

Yeah I am pretty confident he only did drills for 20-30 minutes than disappeared for match sim -

I thought he was good mate. Not a stand out today for me but he uses the ball beautifully. Another one that is locked in the 22 come round 0 IMO -

Fair call on his interrupted summer. My critique isn't just based on today though. I just feel he hasn't quite come on as I thought he would have since 2021. Still young however and capable of getting there. Its equally a observation on the younger guys looking good and fighting for a spot. Good problem to have. -

I headed down to Casey for a few hours this morning whilst I was “out seeing a client” 😉. It was hard to tell who was who on occasion as a lot of them didn't have numbers on the jumpers and were wearing caps. So go easy if I botch a few things here. I’ll do my best to share my observations. I arrived around 9.40 and the drills were underway. Clarry was running at a solid pace for most of the session and according to the man himself he thinks he is a “couple of weeks away” from joining the main group. Will Verrall did quite a solid amount of running along the boundary with Clarry and didn’t look far off. Viney wasn’t participating in the drills when I first arrived but joined shortly after and played through the entire match sim later in the session. Whatever he limped off with the other day clearly is no issue. Fullarton also jogged for about an hour and didn’t seem to be uncomfortable but was at minimal pace. Salem was hanging around near the interchange bench for a while during match sim, but he did not train at all to my knowledge. I didn’t see Petty, Bowey, BB, Hunter, Melky, or Smith at all. They may have been on the far side of the ground from me or inside on the bikes, but as far as I can tell none of them participated today. Jefferson participated in a few drills, but I didn’t notice him after the first 20 minutes. There were about 30 mins or so of ball movement drills before the good stuff started! Match Sim was made up of 3, 20 minutes “quarters” and there was AFL Umpires there to officiate. The teams started off with what seemed to be a mix of the best 22 and depth players on both sides, with the starting backs lined up on the starting fwds. Having said that the blue team was clearly stronger through the middle, even with Gawny and a few others on team white. After the first 2 “quarters” there was a changeup in teams and the blue team was stacked with our likely best 22. Interestingly ANB, Billings and Thommo all lined up in for the white team. Some interesting inclusions on team blue included Windsor on the wing and Howes and Macca playing down back. Macca looks fit and held his own today. Thommo and Disco might be stuck in Casey for a while longer it seems, although both did some nice things. Our key defensive depth looks great…. The key forwards on the other hand look very thin. Roo was quiet today but is a great focal point when moving the ball forward. However as good as he is as a target, we really need another Key Fwd to step up or it might be much of the same in 2024. There seemed to be a focus on scoring quickly and coming from behind in this period, The white team were given a 30 odd point lead for the blues to hunt down, which they did comfortably. At one point during match sim Laurie received the ball during a center square stoppage and blasted it forward in a hurry. Chappy then yelled out, “Connect Bill, Connect!” I liked this as it shows they are working on a major issue we have had for the past 2 seasons. A work in progress but at least a sign they are addressing it. I was pleasantly surprised with our game style today, I thought the ball movement looked much faster then previous years and they used the corridor quite often too, this had mixed results but that's to be expected. Although Blue dominated the session, I must say there were some good signs from our younger brigade and depth players. All the draftees took part in the match Sim and showed signs of what they could become. Really liked Kolts energy and attitude, a future leader in the making IMO. Kynan had some very nice moments and looks like an absolute work horse, just goes, and goes. And Windsor…. Ill get back to this lad. Taj lined up in quite a few CBAs and did some nice things when faced up against our starting Mids, He really stood out to me today, as did Laurie. Positive signs aside, Gawn, Track, Viney & Gus were our starring 4 for blue at this point, and they looked levels above the opposition. Overall, the standard was to good watch and I left with optimism for the season and our future with our youngins all showing a bit. Just some notes on individuals: ANB - Undoubtably starting 22, he was BOG for white by a country mile IMO. Great player for our young players to watch and learn from. Kosi – Everything he touches turns to gold. He really stands out with everything he does. He does stuff that no one else on the list can. Track - looks to be in extremely good nick and was just a powerful beast all day. Viney - Seemed completely unhindered to me and at times untouchable. Kicked a very nice goal during match Sim. Gus – Looks to be fine after his big knock. Played a mix of halfback and midfield. I really like the look of him in the guts and should stay there until Clarry is back IMO. Track, Oliver, Viney, Gus should be our priority mids in 2024. Elite! Windsor – I will be shocked if he doesn’t play round 1. It’s the first time I have seen him play live in any form and he looks like a ripper. Used the ball well, ran hard to give and receive, competed better than expected in the contest and just looked like he belongs. I may have just caught him on a good day and his consistency might not be there yet, but I am a fan already. A shoe in to take Hunter’s role, just a matter of when. Sparrow – I know some on here are big Tommy fans, but from what I saw today he is in danger of losing his spot to one of the young and hungry up and comers if he doesn’t improve. He just seems to have stagnated. Taj, Kynan, Kolt, Lauire could all push him out if he is not careful. Schache – Never been a fan of this bloke, however I must admit he impressed me today. Got bullied a tad in the ruck Vs Gawn but that’s to be expected. He shouldn’t have to go up against many starting rucks at AFL level and from what I saw today he may well be our backup ruck/fwd this year. He had a great moment when he competed in the ruck with Gawn, smothered an attempted clearance kick then followed up with a big tackle locking it in. The boys and coaches loved it! Laurie – Thought he was a mile off the pace in his AFL games last year but looks to have stepped it up bigtime. He found a lot of the ball and looked clean, calm, and effective. Howes – Not sure if he will play down back in the AFL but during the drills and match sim he had moments that made you take notice. The kid can play, just not sure how he gets a look in. McAdam – Took a few BIG marks, one on poor old Gawnys back. He must be getting sick of that! McAdam will add to our forward line potency for sure. He didn’t get a huge amount of it but he was impactful. Looks the goods. Spargo – Looks super fit and was his creative self. Big fan! Lever – Loved his voice and leadership, I still think he will be our captain one day. Gawn – Dominated the ruck and was never out marked as expected. Today did highlight how badly we need to ruck depth ASAP though. Anyhow, it was a great morning, and I am excited for the season to start! I’ll do my best to answer Any questions you lot may have! If Bailey played for any other club, every single demonlander would be agree, Fritch is hungry and regularly burns his team mates. I know this is a Dees fan forum but the bias in the thread is unreal. I'm reading posts comparing him to Petracca taking set shots, ridiculous jibes at the media, Coaches instructions to take shots from anywhere! These are all just excuses and deflections from a flaw bailey has let slip into his game. Clearly this is an issues that the team and Bailey need to address. Sometime we have to take of our Dees glasses to see the truth!

Anyone have a link to how the scoring is calculated?

Looks awesome mate, let us know when prints are available!

Kozzy for me, went from 7.13 goals last year to 40.28 this year! Outstanding for any small forward let alone a 19yo one. Gonna be a fan fav for a long time! Jackson not far behind and Petty was excellent too.

I know this is a MFC forum so should expect bias, but people in here are seriously underrating Adam Cerra. Seriously talented 21yo and should absolutely explode next year. Also, players get what they want %95 of the time these days. As much as I hate how much power the players have in the trade period we might as well use this to our advantage for a change. If he if he nominates us it will most likely happen. Same goes for any FA's that might pop up in the next few years. The system is rigged for the rich to get richer. We should abuse this like other clubs have in the past.
