GAMEDAY: AFLW Rd 4 vs Adelaide
Brownie replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in AFL National Women's League
Big shout out to the commentators, calling scragging kicks off the ground acrobatic and sublime by Adelaide players was Scomo like. Making out that it was the Adelaide's defence which got the result when it was the defensive tackling pressure by their forwards and midfield was as smart as looking at their against tally's this season and making stupid assumptions. Umpires... As someone mentioned the holding the ball, incorrect disposal decisions were all over the shop. Baffling. Anyways, Adelaide's pressure was superb and our ensuing disposals were woeful. Good last quarter but we should have swung the midfield changes a couple of minutes into the third. Goldrick into the guts looked really good. Daisy probably should have been put into the fray earlier as well even though she did well up forward once we started to get momentum. Looks like the opposition knows how to beat us once they apply tackling pressure and plug the gaps. I think we've got the talent. There's some work to do on defensive pressure, disposal and connection. -
It was Gus with his work on the field and that interview with Gary Lyon where he talked about how this was for everyone that really summed it up for me. He was the one that kept grinding away when the game was in the balance and then summed it up so we'll post match. Heart and Soul.

GAMEDAY: AFLW Rd 03 vs St Kilda

Well done to St Kilda for the first three quarters. They really tackled well and plugged up the holes across the ground to block up our running game. Our defence did pretty well early on. Great last quarter and a bot like the blokes last year. As long as we keep winning, that's all that matters. Should be a cracking game next week. -

No offence to Teegs Cunningham but she made great position but just couldn't hold a mark or convert. Having Harris down there this year with Daisy and Fitzpatrick is chalk and cheese for our forward line this year. No idea what she's paid. -

Looking like an arm wrestle when we needed a good win. Just not clean enough with posessions and kicking at goal. Hope this doesn't turn into the loss that costs us at the end of the season. -

Three good passages of play where she wrecked it by kicking mongrels. -

Great running pass by Hoare to Harris who marks and kicks a goal for us. Saints 8 Dees 6 -

Good pressure by the Saints. We're really rushing every possession because of it. Domnated by the saints so far but we're defending pretty well. Saints by 7 -
Is it time to reset the Chris Sullivan line?
Brownie replied to Delusional demon 82's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think it stands and I look forward to many games of watching us hit that line HARD. I loved the fact the players supposedly got the message to ice the game in the last QTR and they evidently laughed and kept running. As mentioned above, there were lots of years where we got five goals up and wobbled. Lots of post game threads wondering why we weren't ruthless enough. Keep the bar set high at 8 goals I reckon. It would be interesting to know how many games we've won since that Essendon game by 48 points or more and how long it will take us to surpass that win tally. I wonder how many games we lost by 48 points or more versus won by 48 points. I want to see more reverse floggings where we are the flogger not the flogee (geez this sounds wrong). You know what I mean. -

Yeah, she scampered for home before the end of the season last year. She's in the squad but maybe not back yet? -

Yeah me too. She's tough as nails and just got better as the season went on last year. Anyways, I think I banged on about team selections at the start of the year for the blokes last year and look what happened. -

Anyone know why Sinead Goldrick isn't back in the team? We really missed her run off half back at the end of last season. Great to see the girls back into it. Go Dees -
Yeah, his kicking is something else now. He's really improved this area of his game. https://youtu.be/zGpM5o6q34Y

Coming down from northern NSW. Had to miss the celebrations. I'm not missing the grand old flag going up. The only way to get a prime time Friday slot is to keep winning flags and grow our supporter base right across the country. TV Ratings rule. It's a bummer about the annual leave we will burn for this but we'll be there with you all. Let's fill the G and smash them again. Can't wait.

By the look of those photos, Tomlinson might have stolen Jack's spot as the angry beast of the team. He wants back in.

Makes up for that one that looked like a goal that Max kicked in the second QTR I think. I was spewing at the time.

It wasn't that long ago that we were all complaining about how we couldn't put teams away. Geez we've found another one or two gears now.
-
I'd be happy if they put the whistle away all bloody year. Usually makes for a much better game.

We had to buy a couple of snails for our fish tank Recently to suck up the scum. We called them Joel and Patrick. I think Joel has gone into his shell or died.
