  1. Thanks D.D. I think. #Demonlandadmin, can we please bring back the thinking emoji?
  2. Sheesh, I love your passion PF but my goodness your a hard taskmaster at times. It's something he needs to improve and can....look at how far Kozzie can launch them. But for me he brings other skills that not only compensate for this defficiency (and granted, it is there), that warrant his inclusion as much as anyone. We tolerate Max and Traccas awful set shots and sure Spargo isn't in their class, but he's a solid player especially given his size, that will find his previous form that helped secure us a flag in 21. And yea by no means the biggest contributor to that, he played a very decent part. All year in fact. Kicking more goals than all but five others for that season and many of them at pivotal moments. So there's that.
  3. Great, true words and sentiment from you Binman. From my take of the man, spot on. A big loss, not just from the game, but for the community and especially, his loved ones. Judging from this thread, seems there are many. But for his family and friends, my sincere condolences. On a brighter note, it's interesting in aging, one shifts the goal posts as to what old is. I know I do. And while I agree, that in today's world 74 isn't "old", that aside, given the quality of the bloke, he would be a loss at any age. It's great to read so many kind posts about the man and I'm sure, reassuring for those who knew him personally. Seems to be a particularly sad time in the footy world for a number of reasons. Take care everyone.
  4. Thanks Roy11. Chin has had a good season. But he had definitely struggled to maintain consistency after an often very good start to every year . At time showing some super star skills. I've lowered my expectations since. But 's good to seem him playing better more frequently. But I don't think we should forget how good Spargo was in 21 and not underrate how being injured for so long would have impacted his present form. If ( Spargo,) got back to 80 percent of his best he would be an inclusion every game. ( Here come the critics😀). I would like to see him play in the middle for a trial. He doesn't lack courage and a difficult player to tackle. Other than that to keep him in the forward pocket or a capacity to be that sneaky goalsneak that he is. I hope he sticks it up a lot of his naysayers here. Totally off subject....but while speaking of critics, I thought Oliver was good v the Lions. Watching the replay without the alcohol and nerves you notice seemingly small things that players do, that make a big difference. I thought Oliver did a lot of these.
  5. Agreed that Viney always goes before Spargo but I think with Spargo( I'm not calling you out) not a few lately on this site have been giving him too much grief. Aside from being out of commission via injuries for a long time he still offers a lot. He works very hard and while some may sarcastically attribute the space he frequently "finds" himself in towards not running enough, it is in fact the very opposite The possessions he does accumulate are often from him traversing a lot of distance to make himself free. And he's often been a good link up from chb to a little north of the middle. I would like him closer to the goals more often as kicking beyond 35 m accurately isn't really in his bag of tricks. But he's one of our hard workers and given his size and injuries, does very well in my humble estimation.
  6. Good point re Kozzie Dd. For me KP is there to gather possessions and boot his usual goal contribution and it's always about the opposition keeping up with him.
  7. Thanks for letting me know wwsw. Appreciative but disappointed.
  8. I definitely think Swans are underrated. Much like us, their best on a given day is good enough to knock off the top teams. So this will be a tough one . As good as Melksham was, we can't rely on him every week to boot four goals. And I'm guessing Fritta will be Sub but will come in much earlier this time. Swans have several Frittas so to speak, that in form can all win a game off their own boot so here's hoping all our defenders are in top form.
  9. A lot still holding for Fritta as sub. I guess as good as he was it was only one quarter so fair enough. Maybe keep him angry. Melksham can lend him some agro juice too. Viney has to come in so I guess Sharp is the unlucky one. Other than that as my dad would say "don't monkey about with a working monkey." I just wish I'd have once asked him what it meant . I miss him.
  10. Certainly had their chance. Too many posters. And the umpiring has been iffy. Fancy that.
  11. This is could be something I was looking forward to to becoming be a mare for the dogs. Is there rain on the horizon? Eight frees to three . No prizes for guessing which favor.
  12. Was loving this game for a while. Come on dogs.Get some back pronto. Despite it's critics you've gotta love Thursday night footy. It always reminds me of that clip from...
  13. I remember ... "Apart from their goals, St Kilda was scoreless in that opening quarter" Eddie McGuire. There are a few about. BT is one of my favorites when he doesn't finish senten..
  14. Go doggies. Damn I keep picking the wrong jumpers.
  15. Those guernseys look like North playing an NRL team.
  16. Good to hear from you lately Jaded. We always get forced to play there on some crowd number financial technicality. I hate that venue except for the glorious 21 comeback we made there. So apart from my ingrained dislike of the cats, yep may Bont rip it up. My brother in law is a cats fan. I usually just send him a nice photo of Max when we play them. That's all it takes to wind him up.
  17. Always tough at Kardinia or whatever it's called but I hope they rip the Cats apart tonight. Always had a soft spot for the doggies. Probably because they suffered like us for the time between flags. I'll never forget that camera shot during the Gf of a group of dejected Bailey look a likes. Said it all at the time. And I do enjoy watching their version in Bont of our Tracc. Was a great day when Tracca won the Norm Smith.
  18. There's a bit of space in my front yard I'd donate. But I guess living in Northern Wollongong it won't be sent by 1many. Then again could be just what this city needs. A great tourist attraction . I'm still seeing him in my mind's eye taking all those seemingly effortless marks v the lions in the last in the weekend's game. And that soccer style crucial goal, seems to be his new best way of scoring. If we can just get opponents on the mark to stand with their legs open he could win a Coleman at full forward. Thanks again Max. As fit as he his and the knocks he's always taken, I do worry how long we will have him playing. Ruckman don't usually play longer than other positions. But you know he's going to always been involved in the club in some way. So there's that. As it should be. I also recommend a nice smaller statue/ trophy award after retirement for annual future games against the lions with the theme of courage/ leadership. Or maybe more appropriate for Geelong games. Just a pinch of salt for an old wound. A nice little bronze trophy of Max walking a cat or lion if it's not too bias. Either will suffice. Perhaps both in memory of our two finals in 21 and the previous last home and away game when he kicked the winning goal. So maybe a lion with a cat either side of it. As much as I admire the bloke, that final set shot at Kardinia was heart in the mouth stuff. I remember a camera shot of Oliver talking to Danger and thinking they were both saying, 'He'll miss it". I think he surprised himself. He didn't look nervous at all.😄Nerves of bronze.
  19. Most in part, due to a really underperforming forward line. The simple inclusion and success and leadership of Melksham in one game not only gave us a decent score, it encourages and motivates all the others. He's also one tough hombre that players know will have their backs. Even without Viney our usual chief enforcer who pound for pound over powers others with more than a decent tickle, I saw a plethora of others go in and fly the flag. It's a great sign of mateship, unity and above all passion to win. Can't be underestimated. I really felt sorry for Gus when after being so unfairly knocked out only Viney came in and gave Maynard a touch up. Was a very bad look. A soft one and it gives the opposition confidence and probably justified arrogance to do what they want. Let's keep the agro up. Within limits but as much as possible. Edit, I was actually wondering if Jvr had maybe toned down his temperament after a few suspensions, and if it lowered his form. As spectators, how many of us blood thirsty ones enjoy seeing an unpopular opponent get a justified bit of rough stuff. So I imagine the player's like to see a bit of it too. And those of us who have played any contact sports probably remember occasions when we played with a bit of anger and we accounted quite well for ourselves. I was a hack high school player but if I got an unfair knock, it usually spurned me on to give some back but especially to make sure I beat my opponent.
  20. The cliche a week is a long time in footy parlance, is true. I'm guilty of calling for Goodys head. Sincerely because I think it would be beneficial for the club in a number of ways which I won't get into again,. But mainly because I didn't want him unceremoniously forced out. I cannot and won't forget the incredible task of giving us a flag after so long. But after that win, I hope he sticks around. Regards your most fickle poster. LITD.
  21. Yea it's a big call and decent of Fagan to acknowledge. Be difficult not too though. But credit given to both.
  22. Obviously not objective but I try to be about other clubs and supporters. Carlton fans have had a long run of not winning a flag so there is probably a lot of frustration. But we've had one of the longest droughts in flag history. Ironically, finally broken by no small part from Max's 21 season. While relatively quiet by his standards in the premiership game he set us up all year. But in the in the two finals with a solid game v the lions and an incredible performance against Geelong in the preliminary ( after kicking the winning goal in the last h at a game at Kardinia), he booted five mind bending majors. One a classic 70m odd roost from the middle on the run. I send my brother in law a crazed cats fan, a picture of Max before Geelong games. But with other supporters, I do really believe we are much more civilized. Maybe we are. This will probably sound arrogant, but it's quite possible we are more from the upper echelons of society classes. I would love to get a breakdown of stats on supporters jobs, education and salaries. Marital status and iqs etc. Not that these are the a thermometer of civility but perhaps we are more rational than others and don't constantly boo just for the sake of it. I find Eagles fans the worst. Maybe the opposite holds too. Successful club supporters have a sense of entitlement that we don't. In any case, We should be proud of the composure and class we bring to the competition. Including our cheese platters. I mean what could be wrong with eating something other than a delicious but offal filled meat pie that always burns the roof of one's mouth. ( I find I always have to nibble mine and then it's gone without any big bites that bring gastronomic satisfaction). It's a shame we can't bring in the odd bottle of Penfolds now and then. Some of these vintages are without doubt the wines of the true connoisseur. And as for the supposed accusations levelled at us, of skiing, even if true, what in heavens could be so detrimental about this. To be out and about in the Snowy mountains highlands, enjoying some of the greatest scenery and fresh air in the world while getting a healthy spot of exercise. I mean at the end of the day, despite all the beamers you see with those famous MFC adhesives on them, doesn't reveal elitism. For me it shows we appreciate the finer things in life. Like high end engineering and quality acoustic systems to enjoy playing our classy theme song while the others go back to their boxes via unreliable public transport . Often they try to bait some poor Dees fans on the same mode of transportation. These patient MFC souls, are just doing their bit for the environment via active choice. So aside from their resentment of us having one of the best players in the competition, I imagine they probably do have a bit to grumble about. But who cares. We simply know we are superior. Although in full disclosure, I drive a Kia. (It does have a very good seven year comprehensive warranty). So if not more successful in life and I'm not saying your income defines this, we are at least, the most mannered and decently behaved. That to me is the true litmus test of class. The others just keep inbreeding the constant, dear I say one would call "yobbo," element. Go number 11.
  23. Wasn't sure where to post this but do you still sell merchandise. In particular the caps? Thanks. Couldn't find any links. My old ones getting a bit tatty and probably losing it's luk. Although my lucky undergarment still work. But I probably should wash them. But that may Jynx them. Can't hold out much longer under threat of divorce.
  24. There is new zing in the air and within all our players and most Demonlanders. And why not? Especially when you travel that far to knock off the reigning premiers. And to see so many players lift in form and stick up for their teammates was great. The last point, I think is truly a zingful sign, if you will, of a winning team and culture. Been absent for too long. Without going overboard and giving silly penalties, it's very important for mine. Long may it ring, so we can all sing that great thing " It's a grand old flag" more often.
  25. Top podcast gents. Some great things explained by Binman about Stats. And great praise for Captain Max.
