POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Clubs should not call out about the umpiring standard. That said this was such a a disgraceful effort by the maggots...Im sorry...professional umpires.... in the pies game, that an exception needed to be made. It clearly cost us four points and our finals hopes. If it's not the pies taking out one of our players, it's now the umpires seemingly chipping in, to help out. I used to think the crowd noise was often a factor in swaying decisions. Against the pies there were so many dodgy calls when this wasn't a factor. So, I cannot find any legitimate reason why the standard was so poor. It ruined a great day of footy on such a special occasion. Great work you maggots.

A Wee Indulgence
MFC supporters are clearly a class above the rest. Fine food, good automobile appreciation, fine wines and clothing. Enjoyment of the high country and less booing.

Goalkicking
Our manic bombing it in is so counterintuitive given our lack of players who can take a pack mark. We are also missing players who used to crumb well in Spargo and Nibbler. Chin has dropped off in this area too so it's so frustrating. I hope we try something different with our fwd line but I have no idea what that could be. Maybe isolating Kozzie at ff for a few cameos

PREGAME: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
I am concerned not just about Power having two more days to rest but the fact that the pies games was pretty intense and probably zapped us of our strength. Then again after playing what seemed like a manic finals type game, we could find the Port team pressure to be soft. Here's hoping. Mathematically we are still a chance but it's down to strange and unlikely permutations and combinations from now on.

Nothing but points always disappoints..... I've got nothing.

NON-MFC: Round 14
His kicking used to be pretty suspect. I'm glad he's got better. He's faced some significant challenges in his life for sure. He's well liked.

And he also had a decent lull in his career after he left.

I wish we had a Hogan type player with us. Oh wait. Four marks in the first. Nothing but the best of luck to him and i reckon all Dlanders feel the same.

Swapping Petty & Disco's Roles?
I reckon May would kill it as a fwd. He is probably one of our strongest players in sheer physical strength. He's probably not that fast but apart from Max, would be our best at taking pack marks. But at 34 next year, he's not really our future gun fwd. He holds his ground better than Petty does. Although I have noticed Petty has been getting a little better in this area. Petty is faster but he seems to get caught out of position too often and the pies games was an example of his opponent getting in front of him. Maybe with Petty being a natural defender, he is used to playing from behind so he's struggled to overcome this. Petts does have reasonable acceleration for a bloke his height. Petty does get the ball to ground often enough but I just want a forward who can take more marks and convert well. And Petty would probably be better than May crumbing. But May reminds me of the old fashioned mold of a full fwd with mass and power but fitter. May, Fritta and Melksham firing in our fwd line would be ideal for me. Speaking of our fwd line, I think Sparrow when he does play, should always be in our fwd line. Going off topic but I don't think Sparrow gives enough return in any midfield role. Sparrow is a strong mark for his size and can kick long and accurately.

Swapping Petty & Disco's Roles?
It's definitely a mind set. Often you see it in a game when the yips go through the entire team. But for us, it's been an ongoing case for a long time. I'm sure all.the players are always thinking about it and so it goes. I'm sure the club has tried various things to fix it. But we need all the help we can get. Dozens of Austrian Psychiatrists working around the clock. Standing on the sidelines giving advice and therapy.

Swapping Petty & Disco's Roles?
This is what I'm essentially asking. Is Turner really our best defender? I think May is better. He has been a little out of form of late, but v the pies he reminded me he is our best. And again it's been so long since Petty played as a defender, people have forgotten how good he is. He is at least as good as Turner. So on this assumption, I'm arguing in swapping them, we don't lose anything from our backline and more than likely we will gain more up forward. Perhaps can I ask you, who you think would be the better fwd? I feel even without Turner in our backline, we have some stellar talent that many would be envious of and plenty to stop teams scoring against us. Perhaps this question is way too late given where we are at. That going forward so to speak, ideally we just find some new replacements. Given the ages of May, Lever and Tmac and the injuries they get, we will probably need both Petty and Turner defending. I think maybe if we began the year with the roles reversed we could have been a chance for finals. And it's not a question of hindsight. The writing on the wall with Petty fwd was there last year and it hasn't changed since. Our fwd line has been an issue for so long, I don't get why much hasn't changed. Our i50s count for so long has been wonderful. And often not the greatest of entries , more than enough for a competent tall to utilize. We've tried a few things and a few players but always stuck with Petty. I feel sorry for him. I'm sure he would probably love to be back in his old position. I've recently watched a few of our 2021 games and remembered how good he used to be. And Goody hasn't had much cattle so to speak to try but he's certainly stuck with a system and players that certainly haven't changed anything. A super competitive and dynamic fwd we don't have. Well we have Melksham back and it's made a big difference. Fritta was back in form and despite a few brain faded created havoc late in the pies clash. Imagine if we had a tall that could impact games as well. How many times has Petty kicked three or more goals? I haven't checked the stats but I'd happily wager it's less than the arguments I win with my better half. As our premier tall fwd his goal tally is around 0.7 a game. And yes he often creates a contest but you need more than this. Maybe it was different when we had more crumbers like Spargo and Anb about. And Chin when he was firing.
