Maynard must get at least four weeks
Funny how Maynard quickly tried to frame the incident as a football act. Trying to get out in front of it. Reminded me of T. Bugg talking about his punch not being what we are all about. Guilt is often not silent.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if it was. These a good reason he wears that Helmut. I imagine it's from a Drs order. Bloody hell. I hope theres a team of top notch neuro surgeons testifying as to the danger of this act

Maynard must get at least four weeks
The more I watch the replay of this act the more it shows how guilty he is and dishonest. He ran at full tilt at Gus without ever deviating and then launched. How did he think he would stop or avoid a collision? The moment he ran and jumped sealed poor Gus' s fate. Maynard knew he would crash into Gus and is100% guilty. I maintain four weeks. Some of these commentators acting tough that there's nothing in it sound like they've copped too many hits themselves. Bloody disgraceful to defend it. Maynard should come clean and accept a punishment if he's really remorseful. It's a disingenuous attempt to avoid suspension.

POSTGAME: QF vs Collingwood
He can but is still has little ways to go. Doesn't hold that many yet but uis certainly crashing packs. Will be a gun but truth be told if we had tge talent I'm not sure he would have been picked for a final. Not a dig. He's a good player but still developing. That said with our lack of fwds, we will miss him next week.

POSTGAME: QF vs Collingwood
Theme for a while. Our touted Mids were all sound asleep thr first half. Great 2nd half but just too late to come to the party. I dont get Trac at all . Hes clearly an elite player but poor halves have been ongoing with him. Pies did as they pleased. Without Bowey and May it would have been much worse.

Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.
Off topic but I wouldnt blame Tommo if he left. It's almost as if he's not liked by the fd. Can't buy a game.

POSTGAME: QF vs Collingwood
This was predicted to be a close one. Strangely the first half showed otherwise with the Pies much more effective with disposal. We had another slippery night. The second half wasn't close at all either. We dominated and had almost twice the fwd entries. An experienced player down replaced by a very inexperienced kid made a big difference too. I think we have gotten to think of tge sub as a last quarter tool to inject some fresh legs and speed. Not what it was designed for. Bad call Goody We had many more scoring shots and couldn't win. Goal kicking issues arnothing new for us. Happened in KB too.

And giving a fig about players like poor Gus the protection they need from unjustifiable agro acts . Everyone likes a good bump and hard tackle but hitting someone like a Mac truck at a 45 degree angle from above is not somthing I want to pay to watch. Unless it's on Maynard. No revenge motive here Layzie . It's Maynard's claims of feeling really bad but saying he didn't mean it that wind me up. I actually think he didn't mean it. He didn't want to knock Gus out. But he certainly wanted to make contact and admit it. (Dirty and dishonest). And that bad choice had serious consequences. And those consequences must lead to Maynard accepting the penalty. You stuffed up mate be a man and own it. Unless of course your not sorry.

And height. The angle of incidence couldn't have been more deadly. It could have been neck breaking. Glad Gus seems OK but you never know with these things. I guess that why the Afl has been so aggressive on these acts this year. But tge cynic in me wonders if it's more the legal action. Money moves. I do wonder if it cost us the game too bit Gus's health is more important. With his concussion issues he's a brave player and deserves some justice and consistency and clear boundaries in the rules.

If I had a duty of care to protect myself, I would have sued myself into bankruptcy. Geez following this club is a clear departure from any such obligation.😄

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
Nibbler was good. Not fantastic but one of the few who applied enormous pressure throughout the whole game.

Well said. Yes tge commentators couldn't defend him fast enough. They knew he was guilty. From a purely neutral perspective one can argue we don't know what Maynard's intent was. OK but we we have a bloke stretchered off ...end of story. Maynard was was simply too high and fast and direct to know some impact would occur. How could it not. It's physics. Newton's rule of motion.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Spot on. I was watching some old vfl, afl and afl reserves vids on YouTube during the week and and shocked by what was allowed in the past. I had almost forgotten. It's sad in some ways but positive in others. There are some shocking head injuries around today because of poor protection. I get it's a fine line too so I don't really know what to think. As someone who is related to a young woman who plays Aflw I want her to be protected at all times. I worry as she as already had a few concussions. The videos from 30 years ago seem eons away in terms of what was allowed. The transgressions are even worse. Off topic I watched a reserves player push an umpire over and then go after some poor bloke in the crowd. I was both entertained and appalled. Like the proverbial car crash I couldn't look away. I do think Maynard wanted to make some contact and while he probably didn't intend that much it left a young man with a concussion history totally knocked out. Plus probably cost us the game with Laurie taking his place. Edit. Found it. Coincidence it was a pies player John Bourke.
