I wouldn't be so miffed it Maynard just owned his actions. It was deliberate intent. A rush of blood or premeditated makes no difference.

According to DubDee, Gus wears the Helmut to pacify his mother's concern. Given the injuries to other family members mentioned by Jaded No More, it is not inconceivable for Gus to call it a day. Maybe it's the best thing for him, but would be a gut wrenching call for the young man. I'm not going to say I hope he doesn't because it's none of my business. I will say that now I hope Maynard gets more than four. Any ideas as to when will we find out?

That was a poor choice by them both. But before the commentary even had time to watch a couple of slow mos they were talking over the top of one another in their attempts to dismiss the whole event as just a smother gone wrong. Just didn't get it. Well done C7. Mate.

Thanks for tge optimism. I think this will be another close one. I'm not sure we are playing excellent footy elsewhere. Our slow starts with our mids v Pies was very poor. We have been caught napping in the first quarter for quite a few games now. Credit to the fightbacks but what is going on with them. Last game was another bridge too far unfortunately although with Gus we probably would have won. We will probably roll the Blues but Fritta will have to turn it on. And Kozzie.

Thought Jvr was lucky with one week. It makes me nervous.

Tmac holds because the cupboard is empty. How many times this year when bought back in has he failed? All of them. Laurie was a huge error from Goody. Maybe if he came on as fresh legs in the last 15 mins ok. But we were exposed to what the sub is really for and a kid with 5 games played a whole qf and no surprises only touched the ball 5 times. Not his fault. He's just starting. Hardly like for like for Gus though. Chandler should have been dropped 6 games ago. I can only surmise Spargo wasn't smashing it at Casey. The young five gamer in Laurie was hardly like for like. He had five disposals. I'd say it cost us the game and given that Gus smashed Carlton last time we met, may cost us another.

I'm in the same camp. I'm sure his intent to hurt was there. I was just positing that he probably didn't mean the ko. Not because he's not a mug but because he wouldn't want to be suspended. Then again I wouldnt put it past him. Claimed remorse but didn't say I'm sorry that hurt him. It was all about saving his own hide rather than caring about the bloke he.. " loved to bits" Pleaser. Yep. Maynard came out pumped. He wanted to make a statement. I'm sure he didn't mean to ko someone ( only because he wouldn't want a suspension) but he was clearly trying to rough someone up.

We looked soft. I think the pies thought we were. And maybe they were right. Gus lying on the turf and no pies players given decent jumper punches wasn't a good look. Aplogies to Jack Viney.

He even looks guilty. He's a grub. Four weeks is lucky. Good if he misses a granny. What about Gus. He's missed a qf which we may have won with him playing. And next weeks final. That's on the positive side. Could have lasting consequences. How on earth did Maynard think he would land? The ground will break his fall? He knew full well he would collide with Gus. It's not just the act but the trying to save his hide with this subterfuge of " footy act".

Given Laurie had 5 disposals, would we have won if Gus wasn't knocked out? It's clearly more likely.

The Pies did do well flooding our backline although our slow entries did help them. It was pretty crowded in there most of the time.

What a tool to say that. Was listening to Maynard interview after the whack and thought it strange how he was talking about it being a footy act and that he loved Gus to bits yet didn't hear him say I hope he's OK.
