Hell why not. Petty worked. What other options are there? Tmac or Bbb on one leg or Schacke. It's not Grundy.
-
Fantastic tackling effort.
-
My hasn't as I did a silly thing and watched the replay. Umpires were so quick to blow the whistle for htb when we were tackled but gave the blues a free pass many a time. I wonder if the crowd noise sucks them in.

Is it not inconceivable to put a couple of cameras on the goal posts themselves. Or one camera on the goal umps head. My son doesn't use his go pro anymore. The reviews of standard tv coverage is farsical. I mean how much do small high def camera cost these days? Why have reviews when the coverage is so often inconclusive?

Appreciate that. It's the same with Grundy. People say he can bring the ball to ground. A forwards job is to present and take marks and score goals. Melksham was supreme against the lions with ten marks. Yesterday his job wasn't to " take anyone out" it was to score goals. He failed. I'm not saying he's not a good player, I'm just pointing out why he hasn't featured in the team for the last two years. He's very hot and cold. Played a blinder like he did in round 22 against the blues last year. Then disappeared in his next three, including both our finals. When he is on, he's electric . As said before, I find him either on or off with a most uneven form scale. It's just the way he is. If it were not, he would be playing more often than he does.

Was always going to go down to the wire. Credit to our backline for absorbing that manic first quarter pressure. Umps were frustrating with the htb inconsistency but it happens. Maybe it's crowd noise. We had our chances. Jvr kicks one of those goals he usually does and it's happy days . Also midfield totally caught napping five mins l at the start of the last. It's the fwd problem that worries me come finals. I just can't see where our goals will come from. Chandler, Melksham and Kozzie are hot and cold. Jvr our most reliable but the kids played twenty games. Back to betting on Tmac . I do think in leau of Petty going out, Goody should have played Smith fwd. Grundy is definitely not a fwd and once again Max seemed subdued.
-
Of course. They had good calls from the umps all night. And when they got legitimately called out, it was all boos.
-
Schacke lacks strength. We need someone like Tommo but it's probably too late to trial him in this capacity. Now we are back to hoping Tmac can comeback. And Milk has gone back in his shell. It's a big concern now. I'm sure the FD is just as frustrated with our fwd line shocking luck.
-
Tx Binners. Yes forget Jvr being legged and Tracs point/ goal, this was the most telling and annoying thing for me. We got maybe one htb free kick and Carlton got quite a few. I have no idea why the umpires were so blatantly inconsistent. I also wouldn't mind seeing some sort of rule change where the third deliberate out of bounds in a row gets a fifty m as well.
-
Did our fwd line look totally inept to anyone else? How are we going to score in the finals? Is it all on Fritta? Is Tommo an option? Anyone else concerned about this? Grundy is definitely not the solution.
-
I am over the Grundy experiment. We just can't afford to have a ruckman or forward who struggles to mark. It's fundamental skill of the game. He's good at tap work and below his knees but marking always takes precedence. And you can't train it into someone.

We don't have any key fwds Rl. Well we have one. A young first year kid who tries his guts out every week and does well considering he's still developing. All our four key fwds out injured. Every club would struggle under this. And as for Melksham he's either on or off and explains why he's been in the Magoo's for two years. Schache isn't up to it either. That's five of them not in the picture. It's a pretty tough situation for any club. Unless Fritta comes back and fires I can't see us winning a flag. And even if he does it Will still be tough without another key tall. We have a great backline but they can't do it all. Maybe the club should have done more when Bbb and Tmac showed signs of injury and form drop but it's hard to fight dumb luck sometimes.
-
The real problem is there is insufficient technology to make definitive calls most of the time. It's footage from the broadcast and that's all. That's hardly state of the art . I agree about umpires being unsure but without any call what can you do?
-
What can you do with a fwd problem like ours? How many teams have their FOUR best options injured and out of form ? Petty Tmac Bbb Fritta. We have done well all things considered.
-
Yea but who? There isn't anyone left.

My 3 word player analysis V Carlton
leave it to deever replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Melksham. Again no impact. Two on the trot. He's simply on or off and never the twain shall meet for some reason. -
Milk had one mark and no goals. He was great for one game but this is why he is never a constant in the team. Like last year when he popped up, he kicked three goals in a game and fell completely flat in both finals. Sadly the fwd cupboard is well and truly empty. What do we do? Is Tommo worth a gamble? Got to try something. It's not Grundy. Not Bbb. Not Schacke, not Tmac and not Melksham. At least Jvr is consistent.

Goal umpires should Know Not I believe. And if they don't know...they s s t h up. Robbed. We tackled and tackled but got one htb for our efforts compared to their six .
-
Lost that by no tackling rewards. Umps well below par.
-
That sums it up. Bloody cheats.
-
Roo legs taken.
-
Just one goal please footy gods
-
Throw not pinged. FMD.
-
So many htb not payed to us.

Umpires are cheats.
