  1. It's about building a proper culture for our club, it's about not accepting mediocrity and aiming for discipline for the club at all costs in all areas. It's about developing a young list that can grow together and form the cornerstones of a new power in the coming decade. Not about drafting 31 year old recovering drug addicts, who lost the captaincy of their own club through their own ill-disclipine. I'm not talking about disclipine on the field, he was a fine player, but off the field he was not and he would not help develop the type of culture our club so desperately needs. Valenti can speak to Bruce if he wants to learn about gut running. Developing our list by drafting a 31 year old who has played a handful of games over the past 2 years is not list development, it's list suicide. Are you with me?
  2. Let's not. How old will he be by the time we get him? 31? By the time we're tilting at a premiership he'll be 411, well about 36 at best. Even Robert Harvey couldn't last past 37, that gives him the most unlikely outside chance at a 1 year window when we're looking at heading towards a flag. In what way would he help our team?
  3. If your analysis of that statement was that he called him a dog, then it would be very hard to trust your analysis of any player. Defend him in context, all you've done so far is complain that he's being criticized (and nothing over the top mind you), without actually responding to any of the criticism. And by the way, if you can't figure out what a word is because of one incorrect letter, then perhaps you are a degenerate
  4. Jaded, i've often found that those who take issue with people that criticize Bruce, never actually seem to address the isses brought up. Indeed, I've basically cut myself out of Bruce debates because of this happening. Bobby, defend Bruce if you wish, and fair enough too if you can back it up. But if people say he needs to hit more targets, etc., building a defence upon "don't call him a dog", when no one here has, i don't think helps your argument. Like any other argument here, this should pertain to Bruce's performances for the MFC, not side-tracked by the ways in which some deginerates label players
  5. I'm not a poster on 'ology, and don't read it too much so I'm happy to be corrected if anyone thinks I'm wrong. But it doesn't seem to have the same amount of quality as 'land. Posts don't seem to be as intuitive or thought out, and seem more often to delve into personal attacks with posters seemingly keeping tabs on each other's history. If this is complete rubbish please ignore it, but I'd be interested to hear people's opinions who post on both.
  6. Wow, this Bruce thing can't go away. Every week! It needs it's own forum section i think. Bub, how did you view Whelan's game and how he fits into the team now, being probably the only player to take a stand in the first half against the league's best team
  7. Year at a time sponsorship? Sounds odd to me
  8. There were a couple of positives, but the biggest one in my mind is that it wasn't round 22, and we at least have a few weeks to lead us into the summer with something to look forward to. Next Saturday cannot come quick enough IMO
  9. I'd have said run from James Frawley is one of the few consistent things we have seen from him
  10. What summed it up for me was about ten minutes in, it was 10 inside 50s to 8, yet we were 4 goals down. We were getting it in there, but all and sundry could see that we had no scoring options to go towards. From here i believe two things happened. Our midfield dropped their heads, knowing that even getting the footy up forward would be fruitless, and Two, the Geelong boys in the middle tooks more risks, knowing that even if they turned the ball over, Harley or Scarlett etc. would get the ball back downfield anyway and they could reload. Tough to kick a score without a forwardline, especially against one of the best midfields in the comp.
  11. haha benno. Being a grammar boy you should know the last time the two teams played at the g it was a hard fought game with scotch winning by about 20 points. Personnel were a bit different too!
  12. Absolutely Bub. If it was the great youthful injury beautifull known as "general soreness" i'd be fine becaus he can rise above it. If people need to use the excuse of shin splints to pardon Bruce's onfield play, then i'd say it's a bad decision to keep playing
  13. I say he can perform at the highest level, you say he can't, i suppose we'll find out in the "baby Demons" premiership year of '09
  14. I understand your point. But Whelan can't help a team of youngsters you say? Never head of Tim Watson i guess
  15. Playing with shin splints. Interesting debate it raises. Courageous or stupid, basically how is not looking after your body to play at the best of your ability the best way to move forward and teach young kids?
  16. "Baby Bombers" because they were the only team to do it. Never heard of experienced, quality teams winning premierships, i guess before your time....Or, pretty much every year since 1993. But still, hold your hat on the Bombers team of '93. 1 in 16 years is a great record
  17. Bub, what in the world are you talking about? Essendon are doing it basically with their elder brigade. Guys with experience can help educate those around him the proper ways to play footy, not just on the field but off as well. The only "EXPERIENCE" you gain from playing only 20 year olds is 100 point losses. I'd "love" to see where that experience takes us. Jaded i do agree, i love him and want him at MFC forever, but anything beyond a 1 year contract would be silly. He'll help build our young backline into the future, and that's what we need
  18. Well said Chooka! Thanks heaps Bazza, your insight and information has been fantastic! I just hope you don't give the Saints fans as much input I'll still be a Sandy fan, as will Mum, but i guess with a little less zest. Thanks again mate, you've been awesome!
  19. We will not die. We will not let it happen
  20. Haha What goes loss, loss, loss, loss, loss, loss, loss, loss, loss, win, loss, loss...? The Shaws in Grand Finals What goees brum, brum smash...? The Shaws in a car
  21. This week just gets better and better!!!
