  1. Would you be happy to pledge a year's salary to the MFC if it does happen?
  2. In that case end of discussion, no need for a thread then.
  3. How could you possibly know that everyone who has posted in this thread knows sweet F/A? You're making a generalisation with nothing to back it up. I know for certain that at least one of those guys I've previously mentioned has posted on this site under a different name, I also know that some junior coaches read club forums, including demonland, and sometimes contributes to discussions. Bob, the only point I'm trying to make is not to be too quick to make blanket judgements with no evidence on a group of people you know nothing about.
  4. One more question to add to your list: What's his record like?
  5. How do you know this? I'll take bigfooty as an example (because it's the most popular). I agree that 99% of the posts are just the same old views regurgitated around and around, however that are a few regulars who really know their stuff, ie mojo (doesn't post on bigfooty anymore, occasionally on puntroadend though) weaver, footyman. These guys go to many games and their writeups are very insightful, similiar to that Collingwood fan who we read his posts on here from time to time (forget his name) Ant555 is another example, these are some of his threads that he does descriptions of potential recruits http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=360062 http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=359260 They really know their stuff, so don't be too quick to make assumptions that all are blithering idiots. Sure they're not going to be completely accurate with all of their opinions but no recruiting manager can lay claim to that either. Even CAC has made and will make mistakes. Just because someone at a club has an opinion on something doesn't make it correct. On a personal level I make no claims to having much knowledge on the topic either, I do however know some junior coaches who has seen alot of these kids play and I trust their judgment.
  6. I agree jacey, unless it was a deal too good to refuse then I'd prefer to develop our own kids.
  7. Interesting theory, when was the last time the favourite didn't go at number 1? 2006 - Gibbs, umm no, he was the favourite 2005 - Murphy, once again the fav 2004 - Deledio, you guess it 2003 - Adam Cooney, ok this is getting boring 2002 - Bendon Goddard, yawn 2001 - Ludge Hodge - Finally, this was the last uncertain number one, Judd or Ball could have gone here. Have you ever seen Kreuzer play? No club would pass on him because it's just far too risky, a player of that size with that amount of agility is as rare as they come. Ratten is just wanting the put some doubt into the other clubs, but they'll take him just liek everyone knew they were going to take Murphy and Gibbs.
  8. We won't get Kreuzer or Cotchin, no chance at all. My preferance is either Morton or Henderson, actually I'd be rapt if we got either one. Morton is a tall, classy midfielder who can kick on both sides, probably like a Cam Bruce who can kick or an Andrew Embly type. Alot of people think he's a chance to go top 2 but he might slip through to us dependign on what the blues and tigers are after. Henderson is considered to be the best true KPP in the draft.
  9. We picked up a key backman in Frawley last year and we also have Rivers and Carroll, but we only have one young key forward on our list in Newton, which is why a big forward is more important to us than a defender. There are more key forwards around who are capable of taking a contested than you think.
  10. We still need another forward who can consistently take contested grabs, Dunn definitely doesn't fit into this category and the fact that he's been played as a run with type suggests that the club realises this. I'm not convinced that Bate is a sound long term prospect up forward either. We need another big athletic forward who can take a pack mark
  11. Retired: N.Brown C.Bizzell B.Pickett Delist: B.Holland M.Jamar (or P.Johnson but not both) D.Ward H.Neville M.Warnock (if at the end of his contract or Ferguson) Promote off the rookie list: J.Bode S.Neaves Hayes to have another year as a rookie That's leaves us with 6 picks, perhaps too many in a shallow draft. Miller, Ferguson, Godfrey and PJ kept for depth and because of a shallow draft. With the draft I hope we get either Morton or Henderson with our first pick.
  12. Don't see that every day

    Bode

Ok, thanks, must have missed it. I have the game recorded on foxtel so i'll watch it again and pay more attention to him. I must admit I do like the looks of him, but then again I think we should stick with CJ....

    Bode

I like the look of Bode, he should be promoted as this draft isn't that deep, I'd prefer to go with him than a gamble on a kid in the 6th or 6th round. My only issue with him at this stage is that he is very one sided, but that will come in time. As others have previously stated (RR?) he would be a depth player at this stage, but there is a bit of improvement in him though, especially if he gets his confidence going.
  15. Agreed, he has a heap of composure.
  16. Ferguson probably had his best game, but was it enough to get him a contract extension?
  17. If he could improve his amrking overhead and specifically contested marking then he could be a very good forward and bloody hard to match up on because of his agility. At this stage I think he's been generally overrated by demon fans but he still has time to develop, he's still learning the game so there is hope.
  18. Good effort jb, although I thought Jones was pretty good at bounces. Anyone know how many clearances he got?
  19. hehe, yeah huge
  20. Appointing Bailey is definitely the club taking a risk, Sheedy would have been the safe pick because of his reputation and record, so I applaud the club for that. On the other hand if Bailey's time with us is a complete failure then the club will be judged poorly for not going with Sheedy, so there is definitely alot of pressure on our new coach. As I've stated elsewhere my preference was for Sheedy, but without being privy to everything that went on it's difficult for us to make accurate judgements. Bailey sure does seem like an uncompromising hard nut, which I think the team needs right now, but he also is very intelligent and has worked under a couple of different successful coaches, which is always a good thing. Haydo, thanks for the inside info, sharing your knowledge is appreciated. On the job offer, you have to remember that you're dealing with a huge ego in Sheedy, and as haydo's info came from Sheedy himself it would have been his own interpretation. Perhaps things were discussed that Sheedy interpreted as a job offer. This forum should be encouraging these types of threads on football issues, not ridiculing them....
  21. Keenan is a self absorbed hedonist
  22. Your second option would make me cry in my wheeties....alot
  23. Thanks for sharing that with us. Revealing a source on a forum is a very bad thing to do, I wouldn't expect anyone to give up a source and I'd be dissapointed if anyone did.
  24. Blight was a completely different example, he's heart wasn't in coaching but the Saints chased him until he agreed. He was happy to work the media and play golf, Sheedy on the other hand is still very, very eager to continue coaching, and he hasn't been out of the game either. I didn't say (nor do I beleive) that the admin are spineless, not sure were you got that from, or are you referring to someone else?
  25. I understand what you're saying about Sheedy being a bombers or tigers man but I don't think that really matters. Barassi is a good example of that, when he went to Carlton he was a Melbourne man, he symbolised who we were, and he was very successfull regardless.
