  1. I've heard a rumour the Club has asked whether we can train at AAMI so that we can use a rectangular pitch, with proper goals and all...🙂
  2. Cold and windy, but soccer was still the go - the boys loved it and the Captain and Vice Captain combined for the winning goal! Quite a few absentees today: May, Lever, Spargo, Turner, Melksham, Langford, Lindsay, Howes, Campbell,Fullarton, Petty, Pickett and Henderson. Hore (out for the year) and MacAdam also absent, but AMW was present for a short period. Goal-kicking practice again and Trac, as usual, was last from the field - certainly trying hard that boy.
  3. It would be interesting to get the stat of the scoring for the period Max was off the ground - I sense it was meaningful, given the minutes involved - although Max lost the hit-outs on the day......might frame this argument well.
  4. I am told to ignore how the team is selected, but I am hoping to see (as named) Langdon and Lindsay on the wings today and Viney forward, with Langford going through the midfield - looks like Sparrow might also go through the middle (because of the Viney move). Great day for footy in Adelaide. Apparently we have beaten this lot 5 of the last 6 times we have played them here. Go Dees!
  5. Surely Nibbins-Hargreaves has to play for us? The new hyphenated replacement for "Nibbler".
  6. Yep, as I posted earlier he is "chunky" - solidly built. Not "gangly". Sorry for the technical terms....
  7. Now that you mention all those traits....
  8. Athletic. Determined. But I am no Jason Taylor.
  9. A thousand apologies - reckon his little cameo happened after training and as you know some of us track-watchers hang around to dissect the problems of the universe. Didn't give it another thought until I saw the press about this possible Cat B rookie.
  10. I regard Roan as a very similar player to Henderson, and we went in the Henderson direction. Pretty amazing that Roan is already in the Pies' side. I guess time will tell on this one?
  11. We actually watched him doing a few run-throughs and simple skills drills down at Gosch's a few weeks ago - we actually thought he was an Irish prospect. He was very athletic and has quite a stocky build for a basketballer. We are starting glass half-full, unusual for DL I know, but you heard it here first....Go Oscar!
  12. Yes - two hamstring injuries if I recall correctly....
  13. OK, so you're sure Ainsworth wasn't just being given the green light to proceed to the new mark (with 50 meters )to take his kick. Often players do that so as to register the score quickly and therefore avoid a reversal from any infringement in the melee.
  14. Good question - yes we were also worried, but Disco seemed to be moving OK and participated in the soccer with the main group.
  15. Are we sure the umpire did not award a 50 meter penalty for late contact after the mark was taken (even if momentarily)?
  16. Our healthy list not so healthy this week. Absent: Lever, Melksham, Howes, Hore and Petty. Rehabbing: AJ, working on the ankle, and Spargs, who arrived late, on his shoulder. Campbell, Billings and Sestan kept away from (yes) the soccer. Nice to see both McAdam and AMW present (no soccer), with Riley Bonner, who we understand is taking on a development role. More goal-kicking practice (Max again trying the "around the corner" shots from short range with reasonable success). With Howes and Petty unavailable, we are unlikely to see 17 AFL-listed playing for Casey (as we saw on the Gold Coast). The mood was OK, but no bubble.
  17. Don't do it.....climb down!
  18. Maybe the umpire had awarded a 50 metre penalty (hence no bounce) and Ainswerth was just getting it over with....
  19. Good on ya' Ghosty. A few other hardy track-watchers in attendance - we expect Kev's views shortly. All present and accounted for today, other than AMW and Shane McAdam (unsurprisingly). Re rehabbers - Spargo was doing some serious grappling work so, as Ghosty said, it looks like he is close to a return from that shoulder. Hore and Windsor did their warm-up work together. Hore carrying a corkie makes sense. Windsor then did a number of laps solo. The foursome of AJ, Campbell, Lever and Sestan did simple handball work away from the soccer. Lever and Campbell often avoid the soccer, rumour is that AJ has "a little ankle" and the Club has advised officially previously that Sestan re-injured his hamstring. So possibly all (other than Sestan) available for selectionthis Saturday in the two games on the Gold Coast. I reckon that's the smallest injury list in the AFL? The session itself was soccer, then some run-throughs then goal-kicking practice. Very gentle. Interesting to note Max trying some "around the corner" shots from short distance, Sam Draper style. Maybe that's the answer?
  20. I agree that a new home base is Priority No. 1 for the incoming CEO. Who makes the footy department decisions in the next few months? - in the decisive way that Peter Jackson did back in 2013. Will it be the Board, the acting CEO, Alan Richardson.....?
  21. So if you're correct why was this language used in the Club announcement: "Paul will hit the ground running and Members will have opportunities to hear directly from him very soon." We/he didn't check?
  22. The press articles suggest that the new location is currently leased by the CRRT to the MRC and the MRC house equipment there. My undertstanding is that the original, now "landlocked" plot (due to the Mt Scopus option) was vacant.
  23. Members had a vote in December last year. 4 out of 8 directors were up. We made a choice.
  24. So we should win by 9 goals on Saturday week? Or are we still "math-poss" to play finals?
  25. Interesting - Viney was BOG in that game. Nibbler, Langdon and Howes were exceptional. Kolt also played well. Turner kicked 4, Petty and Van Rooyen 3 each and Viney and Melksham 2 each. Kozzy only had 4 disposals. Tomlinson played (with TMac and Lever - no May), which allowed the three talls to be forward. We should show replays of that second half for the next two weeks.... Oh, and we kicked 18.9 in extremely windy conditions.
