Stephen King had mentioned that 15 of the Year 1 to 4's were required today: They were Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford, Lindsay, Jefferson, Howes, Adams, Sharp, Mentha, Johnson, Henderson, Kentfield, Moniz-Wakefield, Culley and Berry - all present. The other 12 were JVR, Lever, Laurie, TMac, Campbell, Sparrow, Petty, Chandler, Steele, Heath, Minocek and CJ. Total present 27 - absentees were May, Salem, Viney, Turner, Gawn, Langdon, Bowey, Melksham, McAdam, Rivers, Fritsch and Pickett. Total 39 on the list with the draft to come. MIhocek will be a while with his toe - so will Moniz after the Befbruary ACL, etc... Lots of running for Minocek, Moniz, Steele, CJ, Henderson and AJ and they did not take part in the match sim work. Nice to see Andy, Fritta and Turner, Slarti, Tim, Redleg, Kev and of course Ghosty present.

Not sure you ever get "day of the game" preference, but we should have got Casey instead of Ikon. Apparently a Channel 7 override....

I reckon he'll want him forward of the ball - not playing a Mihocek or JVR role, but near goals - not in the mid-field or on a wing or half-back.

King wants someone who will kick goals - not just another midfielder that "bombs it in" or even kicks it in well. Who beyond Pick 11/12 fits that cateogory? Nairn it will be.

How long can AMW remain as Cat B?

Yes - current;y committed to 39, which includes Berry and Mentha (B) and 4 A Rookies (which includes AMW - the others are Henderson,Kentfield and Culley). If AMW goes onto the primary list, we will have 34 non-rookies on the primary list - so Picks 7, 8 and 37 get used to top that up and we draft Kalani in the rookie draft? Leaves one spot spare? So 4, not 5?

Cameron Nairn fits what King mentioned was required (some quality forward) - I'll swap him in instead of Dovaston - hoping we can still get Cumming....

Hate to disagree with you Ghosty - Maeve had strapping on her hamstring and did not participate in training. No way she is playing. I guess we want to keep the Lions guessing...we'll know for sure at 5 pm today - maybe? Banno was also getting some treatment but reckon she is good to go. I reckon the only change will be Molly in for Maeve.

Still nothing on the website but unofficially 10 am on Monday at Gosch's.....

Maeve will be a close watch tomorrow at the Open training session....

There were lots of consoling hugs going Maeve's way - I would be surprised if she plays on Sunday.

Chatham House Rules applied to a "meet Stephen King" event for the great and the good at the MCG tonight, but one tangible matter to emerge that all Demonlanders should be aware of is that the first men's training session (for the Years 1 to 4) will be on Monday 10 November at Gosch's at 10 am. King expects that to be 15 players, plus any of the "old guys" who want to have a kick. Hopefully this is confirmed on the MFC website soonish.

Yes, Goldie supposed to be one week away - a bit of shuffling might be required. Not sure that we can play Tahlia, Saraid and Gabby in the same backline....?

All 30 players were in attenance, plus Jacinta. Unfortunately it seems that Maeve Chaplin has injured her hamstring and did not take part in the main part of training. And although Molly O'Hehir was listed as a "test" to our eyes it did not look likely that she would be available. In better news both Gabby Colvin and Grace Beasley trained fully and well - would be a big call to select GB this week, but we think it's worth the risk to boost our mid-field. Nice touch when Steven King, Jared Rivers, Nathan Jones, Troy Chaplin and a bunch of others (including Alan Richardson) joined the group for a quick "Kumbuya" moment. Sunday 1.05 pm at Ikon Park a nice time and a convenient location to support our women!
