  1. I'm undecided on what I'd do, but I'm of the same opinion - I doubt we'll need to worry.
  2. How very hypocritical of you to accuse RB of not answering the question, yet you have actively avoided answering the question. I'll quote it for you, in case you missed it: Fire away.
  3. Really happy for him. He's put his head down and worked really hard to become a good player, which you can only respect.
  4. 1- It's good for the ego. 2- I think it's important that people looking on see that they shouldn't be scared off by the irrational, yet loud, minority. If idiocy is accept to be OK, then it makes Demonland a worse place. It becomes a place where interesting, logical, well-reasoned posts and posters become fewer and further between, which ends up feeding itself. If irrational, yet noisy, posters become the norm then good posters aren't attracted to the site, but rather it will attract irrational loonies. I want Demonland to be a place where I can have interesting conversations with intelligent people wo love their footy. Hopefully the critical mass can be on the light side, rather than the dark side.
  5. You are kidding me. Is this a Bluey-esque joke? What do you think fitness is? (He says, with popcorn in hand)
  6. You haven't seen that Strauss can kick? Your opinions are pretty steadfast for someone who has watched no more than 3 quarters in our last 2 games.
  7. Logic, professional insight ...... and mentioning Galileo!
  8. Imagine how much we would have lost by if we didn't focus on fitness in the preseason.
  9. For all those that haven't seen 'ology ...... Bluey is just a [censored] stirrer that pokes others with stereotypical negative supporter stuff. If you know this it's actually pretty funny. What's even funnier is when other posters come on and agree with him!! They're the stupid ones.
  10. Sometimes you're unlucky. Freo probably would have run over us anyway, but losing a couple of players made it pretty much impossible to stop them. We were running on the spot at the end. Showed some good signs, but unfortunately we : - Lacked spread - Lacked Clark up forward (especially when Martin had to ruck). Definitely getting better, though.
  11. He can be both a hero and a villain. He's a hero for beating cancer and inspiring so many people. If he's convicted of cheating then he's a villain as well. He has always been a polarising character, and this will just further that. The sport is trying ultra hard to get rid of the drugs. If has taken on Contador (and won) and now Armstrong. There will always be one or two that think the risks are worth it, but that's the same with every single sport. I'm happy with where the sport is, from where it's come from. There are very few superhuman efforts that are hard to explain, and it's making for some really interesting racing. But it will take some time to get the stigma off it.
  12. He really paid for that early attack, Cadel. The problem is that he is a very similar type of rider to Wiggins, but he's not time trialling as well as him. Evans is a better climber, but he's not a dynamic rider. He's used to covering moves in a similar way to what Wiggins does, and then beating them on the time trial. He's not really an attacking climber that can break Wiggins on the climb with bursts of acceleration. Unfortunately he's been forced to ride in a different style because of Wiggins' superior time trialling Wiggins is being Cadel, and Cadel is trying to be Schleck ...... but not a very good Schleck. More like Dean Waugh, rather than Steve or Mark.
  13. Did Sky miss a trick, though? Evans was really struggling when he got back to the group, but they slowed down and allowed Evans to recover in the group. If they kept the pedal down until the summit then they could easily have dropped him. Interesting that Porte was dropped today after doing the pacing yesterday.
  14. Really happy to see Evans back. He is, if nothing else, a really hard runner. Hard running is what we need, so hopefully he can add something to our list.
  15. I don't know. Importantly, you don't either. None of us do.
  16. Cadel's big advantage is that he's done it before. He's lasted the distance and was going well at the end. The last time trial and the last mountain stages are as much about having a tough body after 2.5 weeks of torture as it is about talent. He just needs to keep up the pressure and stay patient. I remember when Sastre won it a few years ago. He did nothing for 2.5 weeks and then won it in the last few days. Last year Schleck almost won it on a single stage at the end when everyone was exhausted (except Evans). Evans doesn't need to get desperate, he needs to stay patient and pick his time. Is that time tonight? I don't know, but I'm looking forward to finding out!
  17. How do you know that he hasn't done that several times already in his career?
  18. Cadel rode his strongest at the end of last year's tour. Last night wasn't a tough enough stage to do real damage. Tonight is the big stage that could do damage, and there is a stage later on where it finishes after a big descent. Watching last night, Wiggins is an awful descender. Riders were being backed up behind him the whole way. Evans had a few chances to go last night, despite the attention, but he didn't. He could have driven the descent, because he was in position, but he stayed back in the field. I kept thinking that there was a reason for it. I think that it is a game of attrition for him, where he's tiring out the Sky team to isolate Wiggins when he's least comfortable. There will be some sore boys after last night, though. Tonight's stage is a good 'un. 2 uncategorised climbs and a cat 1 finish. It will be very interesting.
  19. That's what I remember, but I don't know whether or not that applies only to us trading the selection last year, or if it applies to any year. It is funny that we both conceded to each other, and now appear to be arguing the exact opposite points!!
  20. EDIT: Going through the AFL rules I don't see anything supporting what I was saying. I think that I probably had my wires crossed and it is very probable that a club that has a compensation pick traded to it cannot change its activation status.
  21. Yep, Stringer is one that seems like he could be pretty special. He's a risk, due to injury, and he's not performing at the moment, but he's got some real talent and is a 6'3/4 midfielder with genuine strength and power. It depends on how much of a risk we are willing to take to possibly get a superstar. I'm keen (at the moment) but I'd love to see more of him through the year. Players like him don't grow on trees, so sometimes you just have to take the risk. If we take him early then we'd probably have to go pretty safe with the other early pick though. It's one thing to get a good player and then strike out with the other, but it's something else to miss with both of them.
  22. It doesn't matter that Geelong hasn't activated their compo pick if they trade it. If Port gets the pick then they are allowed to activate it for this draft, regardless of whether it has previously been activated by Geelong. It just means that Geelong can't use it to select a player in this draft.
