  1. Yep, time to shine lads! Get fit, prepare thoroughly and with purpose. Stay out of the media spotlight. Go over there, exorcise the demons of September 2018, but most importantly just get the 4 points! It is a marathon, not a sprint, but what a brilliant opportunity to make a statement! Go Dees!
  2. Just listened to the podcast. Refreshingly open and transparent. Yes, individuals may have personal views about Frosty, O-Mac, AVB, Nibbler and the like, but Mahoney presented clear and logical reasons for immediate short term planning. Proof of the merits of this thinking will obviously not be visible until the end of 2020. I really liked the interview and like others I do not understand the lack of love for Lyon.

    Theyā€™re out....
  4. I found the whole ā€œbringing the game into disreputeā€ comment by Ryan fascinating. Was it premeditated? Was it random? Whatever it was it was certainly bizarre to emerge in the middle of one of the more important games of the year. We then saw vision of Whitfield collapsing behind the play from a rabbit punch to his ā€œbad backā€ from his opponent. The commentators noted the danger of this sort of precedent, when umpires acknowledge on-going injuries and ā€œwarnā€ opponents not to ā€œtargetā€ them and in doing so ā€œbringing the game into disreputeā€. Just weird in my view and a massive can of worms waiting to be opened and dare I say exploited by our more lateral coaches. If premeditated, the unintended consequences of such clownery is so typical of how the AFL butchers the game.
  5. Overt thuggery, player vulnerable on the ground, bringing the game into disrepute, close up for all the kids on prime time TV, strong track record for violence and sniping throughout the career, for a franchise club moving into week 2 of the finals = a fine. Incidental contact, in the flow of play, maybe late, maybe not (Melbourne player, as an example Steven May in the JLT says hello) = 2 weeks........... Gotta love the frauds in the AFL who run (ruin) our game.
  6. Thank God itā€™s finally over. Skills, skills, skills, outside run and somehow get some game/situation awareness. Just a team of dumb footballers.
  7. As an afterthought Iā€™d add in Round 22 1990 (I think) vs Hawthorn (to make the finals) and then the following week to beat them again in the Elimination. Will NEVER erase 87 Prelim, and 88 GF, but certainly felt pretty good for a while.
  8. Round 22 1987, then daylight. Elimination Final 1987, First Semi 1987. Semi Final vs Carlton 2000. First 2 Finals 2018.
  9. As much as I cannot stand Toby Greene.....the maggots have just crucified him..... and then provoked the retaliation....turnover goal....prancing clowns who think they own the game....rant over
  10. A quiet reflection. Just imagine if we were actually contending this year and the disaster that has been 2019 did not occur! Where would your mindset be in preparing for what looked on paper to be a huge ā€œ3 Weeks At The G - Richmond, Collingwood and Sydneyā€? Are you thinking Gil and his clowns have handed us the draw from hell leading into the finals, or are you pining for a return to those fantastic two weeks we had in September last and look to embracing 3 blockbusters in a row! The mind certainly does funny things!! I donā€™t have a strong mindset about tonight. (My God, Iā€m sounding like the coach) Iā€™ll drift in later, leaving the family in the warmth of house and I am sure I will return home full of disappointed learnings...(there I go again!). Go Dees.
  11. Just hate Essendon
  12. Interesting to see Gil on the TV - a tad dishevelled, tieless, engaged with his phone - obviously a big weekend on the Gold Coast - supporting his mates at Essendrug perhaps.
  13. ā€œAnother poor umpiring decisionā€ say the commentators.
  14. The female umpire just asked ā€œJake Leverā€ no 8 for the eagles to get back on the mark. The evidence of incompetence just continues to mount, minute by minute, game by game.
  15. Looks a lot like the first half of the Preliminary Final. But, of course we wonā€™t remember that.
  16. A great game, and maggot 3 who paid the last horrific free, is a former player!! the AFL are just beyond belief - amateurs who think they ā€œknow bestā€. The maggots simply embody the complete amateur culture created by Gil, Hocking and the brown shoe boys who are ruining our game. I certainly wonā€™t be around in 50 years, but I wonder what game, if any will be known as AFL.
  17. The AFL and their ā€œrulesā€ coupled with the clown maggots who make it up as they go, are just ruining our game.

Darcy Moore has had 5 years? In the system, and despite being injury prone has shown this year that he can actually play. I have faith in the Weid. I also liked Pettyā€™s game on the weekend, and even more so the poise and control he showed prior to injury for three quarters against Carltank the previous week. I also remember his embarrassing debut against the Saints last year. In a season of despair, there is some big picture thinking and promise here.
  19. Clearly, the ICC have been working behind the scenes with Gil, Hocking, the MRP to ensure that cricket will never have to endure farcical rule interpretations and decisions made up on the spot. Hang on.....
  20. To all the haters and advocates of ā€œthe worst game everā€, you obviously didnā€™t follow the Dees in the 70ā€™s. I went back and watched the last 15 minutes of todayā€™s game a couple of times - what guts and poise and character was shown by those fit enough to still be on the ground. I note all the whinging this year about lack of ā€œcharacterā€ and ā€œleadershipā€ - well go back and look that last 15 minutes. I do not care how bad the opposition were or how far we ā€œshouldā€ have been ahead, a win is a win. And a win in extreme adversity makes it even sweeter. A diabolical year no doubt, but give give me this winning feeling any day. Go Dees.
  21. Iā€™m really pleased that it looks as though we will have our list fully fit and rareā€™in to go by Round 23......
  22. High risk with only very moderate reward, due to mind blowing turnovers and skill errors. Having said that, Clarrie and Viney were being held at EVERY centre bounce. Not one free kick. Harmes tunnelled just before the break - ā€œplay onā€ from maggot 14. 20 seconds later the soft push in the back - thanks maggot 2 who then warned Frosty not give away 50. Gil really has got the game in good shape.
  23. From the broadcasting partner to the umpires department that would be on of the biggest con jobs I have ever seen. How corrupt and just plain incompetent is this organisation.
  24. Walters cleared - amateur hour continues.
  25. Despite what Gil might try to intellectualize, the AFL is truly an amateur outfit - a wonderful sport (Australian Football), run by complete and utter amateurs - at every level.
