  5. This discussion on statistics and birthdays has given me more laughs than any other on Demonland. Mega_Watts has added the fine detail with aplomb. Of course, having the same birthday is more common than being the same age and having the same birthday. But we could assume that draftees will be the same age in the majority of cases. I guess the whole coincidence would have been newsworthy if Petracca's birthday was also 9th of January!
  6. Condolences to Ray's family and friends. Thanks for letting us know Bush Demon.
  7. There's approx. a one in 366 chance that a draftee's birthday will fall on the same day as another draftee... but our club only had four chances in that 80 to draft someone. So... ?????
  8. I'm Irish and I kinda like the shite that's been piled on me over this post... but seriously guys, surely it's about a 1 in 366 chance that your Birthday will fall on the same day as somebody else's... but what are the odds that your Birthday will fall on the same day as another person who gets drafted on the same day to the same AFL club? Come on probability buffs... what are the odds?
  9. A little trivia... Neale-Bullen and Brayshaw share a Birthday, just 5 days after Petracca. Could be a big week come January!
  10. Perhaps one of 40/53 will be mature aged.
  11. 19 - Harmes, Stretch, King 19/20 - Salem 20 - Hogan, Toumpas, Kennedy-Harris, Hunt 21 - Viney, Kent 21/22 - Tyson, Frost 22 - McDonald 22/23 - Newton 23 - Trengove, Michie, Riley, Gawn 23/24 - Fitzpatrick 24 - Watts 24/25 - McKenzie, Howe 25 - Jetta, Spencer, Terlich 25/26 - Garlett 26 - Grimes 26/27 - Bail 27 - N Jones, Dawes, Dunn, Garland, M Jones 28 - Pederson, Lumumba 29 - Vince 31 - Jamar 32 - Cross
  12. This is an attempt to redress the balance in the Michael Evans case. I was at his first game, might have been at Etihad. He got high 20's in possessions and continued in that vein for three rounds (approx.). He seemed to get where the ball was going, he seemed to have good size and good endurance. At least one non-MFC scribe likened him to Paul Kelly (not the singer). The future looked rosy! Then injury struck... a series of injuries, more like it. I don't think he has had a clear run at it since. It may be beneficial for MFC to have an extra pick, particularly if they snaffle a Doggy Brown or Mat Whelan type with that pick, but to suggest Evans was a poor choice from the outset is Revisionist and misleading.
  13. Moneider96 has summed it up nicely. I keep a low profile around here these days, although I read several times a day. Mark Neeld is a quality person who gave senior AFL coaching his best shot but it didn't come off at the Dees. He was held responsible for the failings of many because the buck stops with the cocker. However, the insane hatred expressed by several present on these boards has been unwarranted. His rise part way from the depths (that he must have visited) is a tribute to his resilience and spirit. I hope he experiences great success in his new role at the Bombers. I respect him and, even at this late stage, thank him for what he tried to achieve at our club. I don't see myself as a supporter of all things Neeld; I just see myself as a more reasonable and educated football fan than those who burden us with their warped brand of scapegoatism.
  14. I feel compelled to come in on this. I like Jack. As many have stated he has shown a love for MFC. He has struggled with injury but has maintained a positive, forward thinking attitude. Right now other clubs are interested in him. He is our best Trade-bait! This is what I want the club to do.... Play very, very hard-ball on all deals related to JT. If they want him, and if the offerings allow us to pitch for a star from another team... still play extreme hard-ball. In other words, ONLY LET JACK GO IF IT IS AN OFFER TOO GOOD TO REFUSE! ... At the moment I haven't seen that offer in print, here or anywhere else. JT is a quality person from a quality family... So much more integrity than at least two birds that have flown in recent weeks. IT BETTER BE THE MOTHER OF ALL OFFERS! Otherwise, step back, take a breath and secure Trengove's services for a few more years to give him time to repay our LOYALTY!!!!!!!
  15. bananas: "Sewell was a better player than any midfielder we've had in the last 25 years. Todd Viney and Nathan Jones probably go close". Now bananas, take a breath. Sewell would be a worthy pick-up if his body wasn't stuffed! I won't even entertain a comparison with Jones, but let's just consider Todd Viney for a moment. Todd won two B&F's, finished 5th in a Brownlow and made All Australian. He averaged close to the same number of disposals as Sewell over a longer career. He was club Captain... and until Sewell produces a F/S proposition for the Hawks, I think Todd has him well and truly covered!
  16. Wines is not only shaping as a better pick than Jimmy, at this stage he is also a better player than Jack V (and Viney is a goodin!). However, Toumpas has plenty of upside that we haven't seen yet due to lack of pre-season and injury/illness. With an ounce of luck, Jimmy will prove to be a long-serving, decent player for MFC!
  17. I'll try to be more objective now. [censored] off Frawley so we can get pick 3! Kent is a keeper. McKenzie is not! Dunn has regressed! Howe was lazy! N Jones was not as effective as we need! M Jones is not clean enough! Watts played well, just not well enough 1 on 1. Jetta close to Bluey for me. McDonald close to our best! I hope Riley doesn't insist on always being that dumb!
  18. This aint gonna be nice! How much closer would we have been if the f@#@$% fat umpire knew more about the rules! PRIOR OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!! F@#$%$n hell!!!!! Get a F%^$$#$ life you fat #@#^.
  19. To those players who are trying to establish themselves on an AFL list... Salem... I need more than that! Kent... One or two shots on gaol each game is not enough! Michie... This club gave you a lifeline! Barry... Get your hands on the ball! Gawn... hit the ball to an MFC player!
  20. Now I'm going to take a swipe at some players. Look away if you are inclined to defend the indefensible. MacDonald... your inability to pump the ball towards goal when you were in position to do so in the first quarter is a signal to the opposition that you are a limited footballer! Dawes... give us more than a long run towards the ball carrier! Frawley... get whatever you can from the player transfer rules because your best days are surely behind you!
