  1. ANB or Jones get a game forward, but having a pseudo chf/ half forward that understands leading patterns and forward craft from a decade of high performance in a once very good team, is worthy of ridicule? We lack forward line organisational experience and leadership. Throw a pick 50 to the Crows so they can rebuild with a kid, and Lynch slots straight in for s couple of years after the probable delisting of Brown. Anyway, it's Raid Adelaide time. Get excited.
  2. Wouldn't mind old Lynchy boy at half forward taking marks on a lead...at the end of year Adelaide Fire Sale
  3. But he has the moustache of a senior constable with 30 years experience in the force!
  4. I dunno. Is there only 2 options: 0% and 100% effort? I think they could've applied more effort, but I don't think theyre in the game within 3 goals with 10min to go, if there is No Effort. Just multiple factors that prove insurmountable for em. Weather, Lions, not enough Effort from 5-10 players, missing mcgovern, away game, sooking over hubs etc. Are you discrediting Brisbane? Lachie Neale , Cam Rainer, Hugh McClugg, Harrison Andrews, Berry. All were firing, maybe Brisbane just hit their straps last night. I liked their game. And it proved they'll be in the 4-8 range for me. Edit- The "line in the sand news" about wce refusing more games in the hub r4-6 put a smile on my face though ?
  5. What if it's multiple factors...
  6. Fair call. It's a [censored] shambles currently. So we don't know, but i still think it's wishfull thinking. Gils said it's a 170 or so game season, not a 17 round season, so we just hope it evens out when next blocks are announced, and we have some 5-6 day turnarounds and deal with it. Better than playing 4-6 games in soapy confition in qld However, maybe an additional point to @Kelpien I'm no history buff, but it seems the 4pt forfeiture is a very non VFL/AFL phenomenon in my 30 years watching. Not like NRL where they took premierships off teams. We never stripped anything for salary cap breaches. Crime pays. Even when EFC were disqualified in 2013 from finals, youd think they'd need to apply an equalisation to redistribute points to teams that lost to them. But then there were double up games, so it's mathematically complicated. Fines and draft picks is about as far as the AFL is prepared to go.
  7. I think the nature of the testing potentials for error means that game is in doubt, irrespective if all players have negative results in next 5 days.
  8. Im confused: is the mid season or r24 bye a penalty? This idea of forfeiture for 4 points over a week rest is wishful thinking. The only forfeiture I'm hoping for is WCE sooking and throwing in the towel for '20 over the hub/border situation and gifting all 17 clubs 4 points (us retrospective r1 points)
  9. "of course it was him" was my first response. The bloke is home sick, doesn't want to be here, and has said he'll leave end of year to go back home. Just here to see out contract and get $$ - I feel for him in this pandemic situation in wanting to be home, but he's the first candidate for being the one to not give a [censored] about the AFL season being postponed or cancelled. And not a surprise was had when he tested positive.
  10. We can give Lever, Smith and OMac all the week off and let Ratagolouou do all the spoiling.
  11. Probably more of testament to him and excelling with his limitations. He's Essendon's Pedo, a battler. He'd also be useful for us too, given they've gone him over Brown. We'd have taken McKernan if he was a DFA Maybe I'm biased but I recall that a few media presenters have said that Corey McKernan, his brother, is one of his biggest proponents, pumping him up and suggesting he has the work ethic and tools to be a very good player. Its always stuck in my mind since, so much that I've rooted for him individually, and noticed that he's now Essendon's most respected forward for getting the most out of themself.
  12. He's not your run of the mill small fwd, but a burst midfielder that has exquisite skills, can start middle or forward. Maybe Salem run with role in middle, Jetta in defense I think he can contain him in the contest, first go at least. Was he on Phantasia last year? Who knows maybe Rivers is up for a defensive challenge? Tbh I still have no clue where Smith fits in.
  13. Roos was the one that tried TMac fwd. I'd be highly surprised if Goodwin sprung a May or Lever up forward if we were behind and needed 3, 4 or 5 goals in the last, in the next month. The great irony is we're relying on a KPF that was discovered through a hail Mary experiment! May as well rtry another experiment, if it's not working. He might do it when the season is over like he did OMac. He strikes me more as a coach that needs to follow the same process, while the season is on the line. Like our inside 50 philosophy, keep doing it as much as possible until it eventually works.
  14. it's absurd really, like saying TMAC is currently above them all, because the future is unwritten. A brilliant player of a bygone era because they never won a premiership, couldn't make a bigger difference to a current team than a current player? Our forward line and wings in 94 or 2000 + our mids and defenders in 2020. There's our drought breaking premiership, thank you very much. Why show up on Sunday, the Bombers have recruited Premiership champion Jacob Townsend and he's better than any player we've ever had. He has the medallion to prove it. ?
  15. Weid played well, pressured with toughness and presented and marked perfectly on the wings in our finals wins. But there was an element of defensive shambles in the way he scored his goals. We rattled Geelong and watched on as the Hawks choked on their opportunities before pouncing. We're not talking about 5 or 6 goal hauls here @MyFavouriteMartian - the mythos surrounding Weids finals seem to have grown the worse we've played since. Tbh I think a few of his marks and goals fell in his lap. He was imposing in a way we've longed for since Neita, but I fear and also hypothesize that it was also due to our opponents desperation as their defences crumbled under the weight of our chaos ball style. They were under siege. Throw in Dawes, Pedo or maybe even Brown, and they probably would've taken the same opportunities as Weid took had they played. Maybe that's unfair. I could be wrong. We still don't know whether it was a fluke or a sign of things to come. Anyway, the slate is wiped clean. This year and possible next await what Weid can do when he earns his opportunities
  16. He's not a player that plants his feet and defends a 360 degree radius of physical space like a natural fwd like Hogan did. Heck I saw more shades of Hogan in the way Fritsch wrestled and held out an admittedly weak Carlton opponent. When has TMac jostled and taken a one hander in the space he's made for the fall of the ball? I think TMac and Weid are currently very straight line lead up run and jump players. Many clubs similarly dont have a natural gorilla fwd though, but have compensated by recruiting 200+cm lead up players that are aerially dominant due to height. Here's hoping Tmacs bulk, clean hands and athleticism can return and give him an edge in a marking contest and he kicks 40+ However we still might need to bring in that 200+cm marking forward though come end of the year and let go of one of Weid or TMac as I fear we just won't have any edge on the opposition when it comes to inside 50 marking contests. Unless Jackson fast tracks his physical gym development in the next 6 months and we back him in to come in and do an Aaran Naughton next year.
  17. ie Neitz em' When he was getting on, he'd still hit a pack hard and scare the living daylights out of the opposition. I can still hear the clunk of him shirt fronting a player in a contest, from behind the goals southern stand. @DemonOX absolutely agree. More physical imposition from TMac. Halve every contest. Set the tone for the others.
  18. I hope TMac was taking note on how to take out the oppos best running half back when he gets in the way of a lead I want to see him physically impose himself and halve every contest at the very least ie run through a pack like Neita did when he wasn't clunking them.
  19. And the following year, could not come back against the Pies in the prelim because he had upwards of 3 players on him. Needed to recruit Lynch. He wasn't a cherry on top, but a crucial structural piece.
  20. We wait another 48 hours And then another 96 days for Joe Daniher.
  21. Petty dropped after 1 game. Corey Maynard. Just from memory. And now Luke Jackson. I don't think there is any 2 game directive, and each player has earnt their 2nd. Even Keilty earnt his.
  22. Goodwin reliving his Tony Modra glory days vicariously through Fritta.
  23. Can Vander's wrestle? Maybe throw him in the goal square if all else fails forward.?
