  1. Well yeah, we won't be using pick 2 for BH, but the emphatic way our fan base has been proclaiming Langdons final worth as pick 20, reminds me of the initial evaluation of wanting two 1st round picks for Hogan, which then leads me to thinking that Freo will want more than p20. Will be hard to address all issues in one draft/trade period
  2. Talking Footy just said that Goodwin and Clarko would be doing a press conference with Jordan Lewis for his retirement over the next few days, and Hodge will retire and look for media/assistant opportunities. So I mean, maybe the stars might be aligning. Goodwin acknowledging he's so far out of the loop this week and maybe bringing in some clarko footy and its evolutionary offshoots IP.
  3. That sounds more like a tv commentary team...
  4. An overweight retired player would be a better target than anyone in our dysfunctional forward line.
  5. I suppose Dew is not a Prik like Clarko when he flooded back and prevented Fevola from kicking 1 last goal to hit 100
  6. After watching the borefest that was Bris v Geel (Until last few minutes) - I decided to skip the WCE-RICH game. Mistake i guess, but meh, footy has been pretty garbage to watch this year on the whole
  7. Exacty. this thread is totally [censored] absurd. Anyone thats been paying attention to footy in the last 10 years knows that Ben brown is a proud Tasmanian man that plays for a club that has an academy region with Tasmania that plays home games there. This is one of the most unlikely trade moves that could ever occur given these circumstances. The only chance he leaves is as a Tasmanian teams marquee player.
  8. This doesn't seem to be a topic of discussion currently, given what's happened at the 3 other clubs this year and how an assistant coach could realistically be temporarily at the helm and then appointed. Jennings, McAartney and others moved on, and yet we're not sitting here discussing an assistant to jump on board NOW like Caracella at EFC & Ratten the year earlier at St K that will be waiting in the wings for an opportunity the following year.
  9. How many footy minds has Jones seen? Tis a bit like Campbell Brown endorsing someone as a good bloke, hardly an experienced or reliable determiner on what constitutes 'good'
  10. FFS; Jordan Lewis is still one of our smartest players and most versatile - forward or defence. He even ran down and got a HTB tonight! He doesn't need to have speed with his positioning. Just looks like a completely different breed of player that sizes up the situation and applies the correct bodywork, tap, spoil etc, especially compared with the tactical immaturity surrounding him. If we're a shambles by mid next year and he's not in any way associated with the club be it player or coach (replacing Rooke? Jennings?) - then i'm done with the club. Has been my favourite player these past 3 years and still has better claim to a spot on the list with his current form, than half the list. Heck, he's got more claim to next year than Hibberd and especially Jones. And jesus christ do we need players like Lewis, that can hobble around and still be far more useful than the dirth of headless chooks ball watching Been supporting them in two stints ill admit, childhood age 4-21 and the last 7 years of my adulthood, settling down in 2013-2019 (Missed in between with other interests) - The hope of the club rebuilding and acquiring Roos got me back on board, but another poor year is just indefensible in terms of keeping footy in my priorities again.
  11. The score is currently 39-20 and watching on delay. I've just logged onto the latest page and I'm guessing we lose because we're playing with no heart at all. No interest at all in seeing it unfold, may as well save 90 minutes of my life. Edit: Ok, now to start back with page 1, and afl.com saying its 95-41 or something, ew.
  12. He's been working on his piggyback technique in the VFL and might be able to steer the opposition over the boundary line.
  13. Given our needs, Hayden Ballentyne deserves his own thread more than Daisy Thomas. I'm not game to create one though.
  14. Nah, we only play off and dish out last quarter spankings to Carlton in week 1 finals
  15. Would be a better place than Melbourne to spend the month of September
  16. I don't really understand these types of ideas. What exactly is he coming back to that was there when he was a player? He wants to return to the same but older cheer squad to chat with every saturday pre game? The same 85 year old boot studder in the locker room? Time to move on and get the best person for the job.
  17. Interesting to think about what kind disproportionate advantage we can leverage out of The Lachie Weller Suns, if we pick get pick 2 and they get a pick 11 PP etc? I mean, could we could ask for Ben King and pick 11 for pick 2. We could also ask for Ben King, Izak Rankine and pick 11 for pick 2, 20 & 2020 first. The mind boggles
  18. "6 clubs apparently in the race to get him" was mentioned on Classified. Wonder if we're in the race?
  19. "According to Caroline Wilson, young forward Ben King could depart the Gold Coast Suns as soon as this season" What would you trade to bring him in? Would we trade pick 3 for him? A 2020 1st round pick?
  20. And we have Bayley Fritsch; the most successful player of the modern X'era
  21. Pick 3? What to do with pick 5 after we wipe the floor with Horse & Rice Sure. These late season wins that we're all cheering (not tanking) for are coming yeah?
  22. Melksham played a pretty dominant first half against Richmond earlier in the year when he was put in the midfield, might still be our leading clearance player (as a very small sample size of % of time in there) - We obviously have needs in the forward-line, but i'm just wondering if Melksham along with Petracca can add 1 more dimension to our midfield that could push us into an elite category next year. We obviously plan to target Langdon, probably won't get Hill, so i'm still thinking that we're going to be 1 elite midfielder short of being an absolutely elite midfield again. Clubs are targetting a Coniglio say, so if we're not going to add a player like that in there. Who exactly is going to fill that void? This year has surely taught, inspite of injuries, that we're still lacking in that area imo.
  23. Interesting take. It was Xavier Ellis on his podcast that said at the start of the year that our midfield was overrated and we did not actually have any A-graders, predicting Oliver was not one yet, nor would be this year to the exasperation of the other hosts. He gets a tick for that currently. Then a month back, he also said that we shouldn't be targeting any forwards or wingers at a high cost, but another elite mid. He used Rory Sloane as an example of a 1 elite midfielder that we needed in there and a big trade like that would at least change the dynamic of our midfield group that could accelerate our development. Whether it's a 25 year old mid of a 30 year old mid, we're still lacking 1 elite mid. Sloane probably ungettable, but we can use our imaginations. Edit: Hawthorn add Mitchell/O'Meara, Essendon add Shiel (B+ though), Carlton/Hawthorn will probably add Coniglio. Melbourne might need to come up with a particular move over the next 2 off-seasons. I also have to wonder, if Goodwin/FD see Ed Langdon as a player, like Melksham, that can keep trending upwards and become elite at their position. Elite enough to play that impacting outside mid role, and not just a roaming wing/hb
  24. Not to mention it's a very Weid like performance. 1 big goal haul in a season and all of a sudden a 21 YEAR OLD KPF that's spent most of the season in the two's will fill all our forwardline holes immediately? Try maybe in 2-3 years. I'd prefer Jenkins, Tmac instantly takes 2nd defender, Weid 3rd and we're back to the dynamic of 2018, at very little cost.
